Hello Everyone… I have a 2003 Ford F-53 RV I usually stay hooked up to shore power for 6 months, then leave the RV in storage for the other 6 months … So after 3 years of this schedule the chassis battery died even though I was hooked up for months , and now the deep cycle batteries are leaking .. (I did replace the starting battery ) What are my options in this case to increase the longevity of both the starting and house batteries? (Since the charging system is built in) disconnect from the shore power for few minutes every day? For few hours every week? Should I remove the negative terminal from the starting battery even when hooked to shore power? If so then how often? Take into consideration that my fridge and microwave work only when connected to shore power… I do not know much about how electric systems work so that is why I ask all these details to make sure I get it right

We were camping last weekend on the hottest week of the year and the ATS (auto transfer switch) kept kicking out every 30-40 seconds but only with the a/c on. The coach has a 50 amp system, three a/c units and was plugged into a 30 amp shore power plug in. I do not try to run them all on 30 amps its either the front or the back. I just ended up shutting the a/c's off and everything else seemed to work normal. I started the Onan 10k generator and they all ran perfectly fine with no issues. When I got home I plugged the shore power cord into my garage 15 amp plug and the a/c came on and the ATS was cutting in and out exactly the same as it did when it was plugged into the 30 amp service because I had forgotten to shut the a/c off after driving home and running the generator. So in my eyes it seems to be doing exactly the same thing plugged into a 15 amp service as it did when plugged into the 30 amp. My surge protector showed that there was 104 volts at the campground plug in and I took the cover off the ATS box and the voltage from L1 to L2 was 104 and L2 to L3 was the same while at the campground. So I'm looking a little advise here if anyone can help me, I'm a licensed automotive tech so I do have a good understanding of how stuff works. If I had to guess its only getting 15 amps to the coach???

I'm having an issue with shore power shutting off randomly, a few times per day. We just arrived at a new park yesterday and it started shortly after we got plugged in. I should mention I have a portable "surge guard" plugged in between shore power plug and my cord. That surge guard shows all green lights, even as shore power in the RV cuts out. After some google research I "think" it may be my surge guard / ATS. I have a 2017 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 36U. The surge guard / ATS is a Surge Guard Model 40350 RVC Automatic Transfer Switch. Background: There appeared to be intermittent loud humming from the area of the ATS in the recent past. It doesn't seem to be "humming" anymore.... just making a fairly loud "clunk" as it shuts off interior shore power, and then later (random amount of time each time) it makes the same "clunk" when interior shore power comes back on. It has done it with very little load. No A/C or heater on... maybe pulling about 3 to 4 amps. Since it is so recent I don't know if it will also do it under load. Speaking of "load". Back when it was "buzzing" it appeared the buzzing pulled a load. Nothing on except for maybe the fridge and it would jump from 3 or 4 amps to 11-12 when the buzzing started. I should also mention it seems if I cut the breaker at the shore power tower off then back on, the shore power in the RV return I have an appointment to bring it into the shop in mid-January..... just don't know if this a big enough issue to worry about right now. We are full time and travel / move frequently. (about every week)

I'm getting ready to snowbird to Desert Hot Springs for a few months this winter. With the cost of propane down at about $2.00 a gallon I was wondering what it would cost to run the refrigerator off of propane compare to shore power. Shore power is 13.5 cents per amp hour and was costing me about $60 per month. The information I was able to look up so far is that the refrigerator is about 500 watts running on shore power. Someone has posted somewhere on the web a formula of calculating the break even point of kwh cost compare to cost of a gallon of propane but I can't seem to find it. The question is how long will a 12 cu feet refrigerator run on a gallon of propane. I figure that about half of the cost of shore power I used last year was for the refrigerator alone but I could be wrong. Does anyone know the calculation?

Have 40' ft diesel pusher (2001 Monaco) w 2 ac's. One AC (front) works fine during the day and we turn it off at night. The other AC (rear) comes on at night and works until early morning (around 7), then shuts off and will not come on again until night. Had it checked and they say it is fine. Both AC's are left on auto at 69. Any suggestions?

My 1995 coach came with a Marinco brand 50 amp power cord -- the yellow style with push-in and twist connector to the coach. I'm not sure if it is the brand of the cord (although some have said that the yellow cords are inherently stiffer) or its age, but any time the temp drops below ~60 degrees F getting the cord back in a storage bay is like alligator wrestling. Others in the same situation don't seem to have nearly the issue that I do. Would anyone offer a recommendation for a replacement cord that is more flexible and with which they have had actual experience? It would be great if a brand name was available -- maybe even a new Marinco cord if someone has also replaced an old one of that brand with good results. I would even get the appropriate size cable from an electric supply house if I could get a decent specification/brand for a truly flexible cable. It doesn't need to be arctic level caliber, but something that is manageable down to ~50 deg F. Thanks in advance for any help offered. Bill

Help! We brought home our "new" 40' 2007 Fleetwood Revolution and plugged it in to our outdoor power source and nothing. We can't find the converter to turn it on. What are we doing wrong?
