roadking Report post Posted January 5, 2017 I have a 2001 Newmar Mountain Aire with a Shurflo PN 2088-404-144. It works fine as long as it has water in the pump but as soon as the pump is dry it will not self prime. Has anyone rebuilt one of these? I have been able to find a rebuild valve kit but before I go that way I wanted to see if there's something else I should be looking at. Thanks in advance
dickandlois Report post Posted January 5, 2017 Roadking, I have rebuilt my water pump twice by ordering the proper rebuild kit. No special tools, just need to clean the area around the pump well so no dirt gets into the area. If you have worked replacing parts in a water valve - it is not that much more complicated, work carefully getting things lined up and do not over tighten the screws. Most of the assembly is plastic. The hardest part might be getting the pump out so you can work on it and making sure you know how to reconnect the electrical. Rich.

A friend had a brand new MH and it would not pump water. Another member reached in and tightened the lines by hand it it started working fine. Being an '01 it probably needs a rebuild. Good luck and let us know what you find.
