berginaperzina Report post Posted February 25, 2017 Is a Spartan chassis good? Any problems with it?
wolfe10 Report post Posted February 25, 2017 Sorry, the question is too vague/broad. Like asking of Ford is good-- are you talking about a 1992 Ford Escort or a 2017 Lincoln? Same for Spartan-- they made a number of different chassis over the years. Some VERY basic, others very high end. What year and which Spartan chassis are you interested in? manholt Report post Posted February 26, 2017 Jose. My coach is on a Spartan chassis...no problems with it, just problems with the junk that American Coach added to it. The 06 Revolution was a top of the line Fleetwood, not an American Coach, so I also have to concur with Brett...we still don't know which one of Spartan chassis your asking about. I can only add, the K2 or K3 is the top of the line for Spartan! Carl
wolfe10 Report post Posted February 26, 2017 I believe it is on a Mountain Master chassis-- that is from a web search, not any first hand info. Was not able on Spartan's website to get any information on specifics for that chassis. Did find a (relatively minor) recall on rear suspension mounts for the air bags. berginaperzina Report post Posted February 27, 2017 Thank you so much for your replies, we are helping out our kids with finding one to buy. They found a really nice National RV similar to ours on a Freightliner chassis so all is well. Thanks for your time
kaypsmith Report post Posted February 27, 2017 Things change from year to year, but Spartan at one time built the largest number of chassis for fire trucks that was produced in the USA. My previous coach was a Cross Country by Sportscoach on a Spartan chassis. I will say that I loved driving it because it had a very close turn steering, good ride, and very stable on the road. That was a 1991 chassis and coach, and as stated by others, different models can vary.

jleamont Report post Posted February 27, 2017 Kay, I believe they still do build the most Fire Truck chassis. I cannot recall ever working on a fire truck that wasn't sitting on a Spartan and there were many of them. Different set up but none the less a very trusted company. When the sirens are blazing and the adrenaline is flowing those chassis go through a beating, they took it!
