New rear view camera

Recommended Posts

We have a 2004 Itasca Sunova with an old black and white rear monitor. It actually works great but is big, hanging down above the dash and rattles every time we hit a pothole. I will contact RV Cams unless anyone else has a suggested upgrade.

Sounds like you are headed down the right path. Check with RV cams and find out what our options are. Our last coach I removed the dash mounted CRT monitor and replaced it with an LCD the mounted inside the drivers side sun visor. Probably not a good fit for a class A but just an example of how creative you can get with monitor placement.

Any tips on how to run a new camera cable on 2004 Alfa. It still has the original b&w Jensen rear camera, b&w monitor?

Did you post on this site for Alfa owners?

Couple people on this site that really know Alfa’s, I’m also a new Alfa owner and would be interested in the answer.

In most cases, you do NOT have to run new cables. Yes, may need adapters.

My suggestion is to contact Tim-- this is what he/they do for a living

Instead of trying to figure out how to replace the old obsolete Sony coax, I went with a wireless Voyager rear camera system. To power the wireless camera I re-purposed the Sony coax by making the center wire the 12V positive feed and the braided shield the negative/ground. It's worked well since 2013. Since I had the dash apart anyway to remove the obsolete Sony CRT it was easy.

What model camera/monitor did you get? I want to do something else back there as well. Currently have color camera but it's pretty well useless due to lack of clarity.
