Spooks535 Report post Posted March 27, 2019 Hi everyone, I am a new member, just arrived From Australia having purchased a 1999 Fleetwood 30 foot Storm with 47k on clock. It has been stored outside in Sonoma since October and batteries have run flat(not unexpected). Anyway, got main battery up and running so can start and move rv ok and once we get on the road, would expect that issue to be resolved quickly. However, I cannot get the Dometic 3 way Auto select refrigerator to fire up on gas. I don't have access to shore power where RV is stored so am wondering if, due to batteries going flat, a relay or similar may have dropped out? The main battery is just capable of starting truck and house batteries are not, I would think, anyway near full charges at this stage. Checking manual, it seems that 12v power is a prerequisite for the fridge to run on any of the 3 supply sources - 12v;110v or gas. Have checked inline valve at rear of fridge is open and can not find any other valve /shutoff at all. Propane supply to rv is fine as we have checked the stove is working. It seems as though gas supply is not coming through to fridge. we have turned unit on/off heaps of times to try and reset to no avail. In house detector has been reset and is working . We have booked into Sonoma County fairgrounds for Friday night( our first night in rv) and am hopeful 12 hours of shore power may get all batteries up to square and enable fridge to run. Any other suggestions?

The 12 volts required in all cases that I have ever seen is from the house batteries, if they are fully discharged the fridge can't work, and as stated from any of the three supply sources. The fridge controller is 12 volt and that controls all sources. To work on gas, 12 v is necessary to open the gas valve to let gas to the thermocouple, and 12 v also necessary to ignite the gas flame. Welcome to the forum, hope when the house batteries get charged your problems will be resolved.
wildebill308 Report post Posted March 28, 2019 Welcome to the forum. Like Kay said without 12V power nothing works. Once you get plugged in you may find the fridge will work because your system should pass 12V power to all your 12V requirements and charge the battery. Check the water level in the battery's. richard5933 Report post Posted March 28, 2019 Re-reading your original post, if gas is not getting to the fridge you might have to bleed the air out of the line to the fridge. Once you get the batteries charged, check to see if the system is attempting to light the flame. Some systems will only make so many attempts to light, and then they'll stop trying assuming that there is a problem. If you have a lot of air in the line, you won't get ignition and the system will stop trying. You might have to crack the line at the fridge, open the valve until you smell the LP, then close the line back up. Of course, be sure to use proper safety precautions when doing this (no flames, so electrical sparks, etc.)
wildebill308 Report post Posted March 28, 2019 Spooks535, do you have a generator? Have you been able to run it? It probably uses the house batteries so you might be able to use the switch that connects the 2 battery systems together (with the coach running) and start the generator. This will give you the equivalent of shore power. Richard, with out 12V power the gas valve won't open and you won't get any spark from the igniter. Yes just like the water heater if it doesn't ignite after a set number of tries you have to turn the main switch off and try again. Spooks535, Don't try to light the water heater till you have water in the tank, but that is one more thing to try when you get set up. You need 12V for this to.😄 Bill
manholt Report post Posted March 28, 2019 Spooks535. Welcome to America, FMCA and the Forum! You might want to check the water level of all batteries and age. That also goes for your tires, find the DOT number. Good luck at the Fair & enjoy some Wine! Carl
