Back Up Camera

Recommended Posts

Backup system stopped working - monitor still worked so assumed problem with camera.  Checked with manufacture who advised just take off camera and pull cable out until able to disconnect coaxial cable from camera lead.  Did so however wasn't connected by screw- on connection to  coaxial - was just a plug in connection.  Disconnected from coaxial cable from monitor well back from camera location in ceiling above rear bedroom. Any suggestions how to fish that cable? Local dealer suggested removing ceiling above bedroom which isn't going to happen!!

If the coaxial cable is good, why remove it? Simply unplug the connection and replace the camera. You can use an ohm meter to make sure the coax is good.

Problem is coaxial cable unhooked a few feet forward of the camera.  Challenge is how to get hold of the cable without going through the inner ceiling of the unit..

Sorry for the misunderstanding, can you get one of those snake type cameras to go far enough back into area where the coax separated. If so, an improvised tool to hold the coax end in place while a similar tool to force the new coax on the new camera to push back together. Usually a stiff wire can be formed to make this happen.

Is there any slack in the cable? Kay has a good idea. Using the camera you may be able to pinpoint where  exactly the end is. There may be a light or air duct to help gain acess.

F 353196, Welcome to the Forum!

Could you post the Make, Model and Year of the coach? That information helps because builders use ducts, trim  or some other method to run the wiring.  Sounds like a splice has failed from your post. Do you have a short piece of wire connected to the camera and an end that was pulled out of a routing hole behind the camera mount?

Can you take a picture of the end the came loose if you have pulled it out of where it was coming from ?  Pictures are very helpful because we can see how the bedroom sealing and the cabinets installed for possible wiring paths.

Rich.

No trip tek.  Unit is a 2002 Triple E Empress Model FW3802.  Tried hooking but no luck yet.  Possible not sufficient cable length to pull through to camera location if able to hook it. Will talk a picture of end of wire connected to camera and post.  Appreciate the suggestions

I now forget where, but I once saw a flexible  remote camera with a  grabber on the end, like the grabber made to  retrieve a dropped nut from a small hole. Wonder if one may be rented?
