jraffler Report post Posted May 25, 2020 Hi all, Have 2003 Fleetwood Southwind R35 on Workhorse chassis. Entry steps are stuck in up position. Checked fuses in engine compartment, both are good. Followed troubleshooting flowchart from Lippert for the Kwikee steps, however no luck so far. Any one out there who may have some insights ??? :>) Any assistance is greatly appreciated. dickandlois Report post Posted May 25, 2020 Have you sprayed some oil on all the pivot points? If they are hung up the current limiter circuity will stop any motion. I have had the best luck with a good bicycle chain oil. To get all of them one needs to get under the coach, But make sure you are clear of the area under the steps. They will pin you to the ground ! if they start to move. Not a good location if you are working alone. Rich.
rayin Report post Posted May 25, 2020 Welcome to the FMCA discussion forums! Have your steps ever been hit or bent? Those may cause high current draw. I agree with Rich, Kwikee recommends monthly lubrication.

Good Luck Old Marine Run to Lowe's and get some LIquid Tape. After cleaning the connectors and after getting the steps working use the liquid tape to seal the contacts. It applies with the applicator brush that comes with the can. Great stuff. There are several reasons why your steps are not working. Jammed, broken tooth on step pawl, broken tooth inside step motor, bad step motor, low or no voltage, broken ground wire from motor to chassis ground and usually a separate wire than being in the harness. So many possibility. Start trouble shooting and call Lippert Customer Support.
manholt Report post Posted May 26, 2020 Even if everything is perfect with the step...It can lock in out or in position, by not allowing it to come fully out and lock, before putting weight on it. You or a 20 pound dog can do it.
