Water Heater will not heat on electric

Water heater will not heat on electric but works fine on propane…Replace or try to fix the electric side?

Don’t have enough information about the make and model of your water heater, but check to see if 120 volts between the terminals on the heating element. If the voltage is there, then the element is bad and needs to be replaced.

I'll bet money the 120VAC heater element is failed. This is nothing special to RV's, the difference is mounting, screw-in or bolt-in, and total length. Any hardware store carries them. You will need the huge hex socket for the screw-in, which again is the same as a residential water heater.

If your water heater has the depth to accommodate the long style, it is a slightly higher wattage than the short style.

I have a 2011 Jayco Greyhawk with no power to the element. What is the next step to identifying cause of no hot water on electric? Works fine on gas. Thanks

Turn the breaker off. Remove connections at the element. Using an ohm meter, measure the resistance of the element. If you read zero, the element is open meaning it is shot. For a 1400 watt element, you should see 10 ohms or a little more
