Hey....Shut off the darn breaker at power pedistal

Recommended Posts

When I last stayed at the FMCA campground near Cincinnati, I discovered that all breakers were in the "ON" position when I went to plug in.

This is neither safe nor good for long term life of your power cord.

Here is the background

Thanks for posting ... not good to plug in nor pull cord out when still hot.... surprised but see this frequently around the country..

I've stayed at CG's were the pedestal breaker was at a remote location, so I turn off my main breaker in the RV first to eliminate any loads then plug into the 50A receptacle.

One of the benafits of using my portable surgeguard. It will not transfer power till all the cheacks are made. So you don't have any power draw when you plug it in. However I turn off the pedastel breaker when I am un pluging to prevent arking.

I have acquired a habit of checking the breaker before plugging in, and I always turn it off before unplugging.

Good article Roger, thanks.
