ONKUJALA@GMAIL.COM Report post Posted September 18, 2023 I'm just looking for a small compact air compressor to keep my tires at recommended pressure. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a tool like that?
fagnaml Report post Posted September 18, 2023 I have the small Porter-Cable 150 psi air compressor that works well and is relatively inexpensive versus other options --> https://www.amazon.com/PORTER-CABLE-CMB15-Oil-Free-Shrouded-Compressor/dp/B006CVXGR0/ref=sr_1_5?adgrpid=1331509144723937&hvadid=83219560664843&hvbmt=bp&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=73309&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=p&hvtargid=kwd-83219665374666%3Aloc-190&hydadcr=1673_13458132&keywords=porter+cable+150+psi+air+compressor&qid=1695058385&sr=8-5 I use this "lock-on" air chuck with the air compressor which allows the compressor to continually run while "topping off" a tire --> https://www.amazon.com/Haltec-CH-350-LO-1-Dual-Foot-Chuck/dp/B01938M520/ref=asc_df_B01938M520?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80470562648773&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584070147706798&psc=
rayin Report post Posted September 18, 2023 I have the setup Mike described, but with a Fini brand compressor from Menards. If you don't want to spend that much money, check out this 150 psi 12V compressor from Harbor Freight: https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=12V 150psi air compressor I've owned one for about 20 years now and it still performs like it when I bought it, although it is slower to add air than the 120V 150 psi Fini pancake unit. five Report post Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) I have an older version of the Porter Cable noted above. Works fine and certainly faster than a 12 volt unit. Mine was on sale for $100. Edited September 19, 2023 by five
wildebill308 Report post Posted September 19, 2023 I have a Viair 45053 and a pancake 120 V one that travel with us. One thing I have found is with the Viair if you use a larger diameter air hose it works better/faster. I have seen some with a small axillary air tank and I am considering adding one. Having a tank is why the pancake works so well. Bill
rayin Report post Posted September 20, 2023 IMO the Viair brand is vastly over-priced, mine from Harbor Freight performs well and cost $59. Now if a Viair is used continuously for 6-8 hrs. yes it will outperform the HF copy, but what is the projected longest continuous-use? I've run my HF copy for 20 minutes continuous without apparent damage, I can't imagine longer use. You're right wildbill; I added a 150G tank to my shop compressors 80G tank and even though the compressor CFM is not great I don't run out of 90 psi shop now when using a impact gun.
