santacarver Report post Posted November 24, 2014 I will be traveling thru the 4 corners area national parks in May 2015. Durango, Cortez, Bluff UT. MOAB, Bryce Canyon, north rim AZ. What would road conditions be like for Snow? And will the camping areas be open for Motor homes? I looking for any information I can gleam fro anyone that has been thru these areas or lives in theses areas during this time of year. Thank you in advance. 0 elkhartjim Report post Posted November 24, 2014 I would start by checking campgrounds in the areas you're interested in on http://www.rvparkreviews.com/. Each listing will have the campground website which should give dates of operation. Sorry, can't help you with the weather.
0 manholt Report post Posted January 27, 2015 Don't know about North Rim, but the rest should not be a problem. MOHAB has year around parks and you need a reservation ASAP! Durango has a lot off parks, but get a reservation as there are a lot of folks who come in their RV's for summer, mostly Texas and Arizona. Cortez has 3 parks in town, I prefer Dolores River RV Park in Dolores (15 miles N of Cortez on Hwy. 145), I have spent 2 to 3 months at a time there, for the past 4 years. All the roads in area are good and open all year. Enjoy yourself. Carl
0 floridaroom5 Report post Posted February 2, 2015 Good morning, we are making the trip back to Moab starting the end of April, we have reservations at the Portal RV Resort in Moab, we stayed there last year and had a wonderful experience. Our trip will start from North Florida and we plan on following I-10 to San Antonio TX before we turn North. Last year we stopped in Destin, Dallas, Lubbock, Albuquerque, Sante Fe, Flagstaff, Sedona, Las Vegas, Moab, Denver and then headed back to Florida. The weather was chilly at nights until we reached Vegas the 3rd week of May. We also learned last year it is very important to watch the weather forecast mid year to avoid thunderstorms across the the US. I hope the helps a bit, have a great day. 0 akadeadeye Report post Posted February 2, 2015 In Durango we stayed here. It is on the train route. Nice tree covered park. http://www.unitedcampgrounddurango.com/ In Moab we stayed here. OK park. Would probably do Spanish Trails or Dead Horse State Park next time http://www.moabvalleyrv.com/ In southwestern Utah we stayed here in Glendale, UT. Small family owned park. Very central to Bryce, Cedar Breaks, Zion, and a day trip from the North Rim of the GC. Great peaceful place. We were here in mid May and it was cool weather. It actually snowed one night about an inch but was all gone by 10 am. http://www.bauersrv.com/ Have a good trip. Don
0 wigginsjsr Report post Posted February 2, 2015 Mesa Verde National Park near Cortez is a must see. We have visited the Cortez area several times. The best park in the area is the Mesa Verde RV Park, http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/colorado/mancos/mesa-verde-rv-resort. The address shows as Mancos, but the park is about 1/2 mile from the entrance to Mesa Verde. In the summer, I would recommend reservations ahead of time.
