chuckwagon Report post Posted September 10, 2015 Does anyone use NSA surge braking system and do you like it?
hermanmullins Report post Posted September 10, 2015 Chuckwagon, Welcome to the Forum. Surge Brakes work well on Boat and Utility Trailers , till you want to back up. Then you have a problem. I would look around for some other type of brake system. Just my opinion. Herman
kaypsmith Report post Posted September 10, 2015 How many even try to back 4 down? Also you can use a lock out if you really need to back up.
wolfe10 Report post Posted September 10, 2015 Chuckwagon, Yes, welcome to the FMCA Forum. What vehicle are you towing-- that may help with comments.
wildebill308 Report post Posted September 10, 2015 Welcome to the forum Chuckwagon, Never back up when towing 4 down you will damage the suspension and or the tow bar. Repeat, never back up when towing 4 down you will damage the suspension and or the tow bar. Now that being said I think a NSA surge braking system should work fine. I had surge brakes on my tow dolly and no problems. When you get right down to it all but the brake systems that are activated by your coach have some type of surge detection system. The Brake Buddy has a inertia detector that just detects the "surge" a different way. Bill
lewengel Report post Posted September 10, 2015 I have the NSA system on my rig. IT SEEMS TO WORK but I don't know how to test it. It does take some setup time to get the cables at the right tension. By the way it is not the same as surge brakes on a trailer. It uses a cable attached to the brake pedal.
