Lake Front RV Campground Recommendations

Recommended Posts

We are looking for suggestions/recommendations on lake front RV campgrounds and are hoping that someone on this forum might be able to help, please.
We have a 45 foot MC and would like to spend 5-6 months in a lake front campground in locations where it tends to be cooler during the summer months. Obvious locations that come to mind are the north central (MI, MN or WI) or north east (upstate NY or New England) regions. A campground in southern Ontario would work as would the mountains of TN, NC, WV, Western MD and PA. The campground doesn't need to be fancy as long as we have full hook-ups and there is comfortable spacing between units. It would be nice to have water front or water view, if those type of sites have full hook-ups, but full hook-ups trump view.
The lake doesn't have to be large (a nice size pond would work) since our interest is kayaking, fishing, swimming and just hanging out along the water's edge. Also, since we are planning to spend an extended period, we would like to be reasonably close to good shopping and nice places to eat. Oh, and it would be nice if the campground has a good Wi-Fi signal and/or there is strong cell phone connection in the area.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your list includes Michigan. There is a park right on the shore of Lake Huron on the UP. Cedarville,MI. Heard good things about the place on another site. Google will get you the info. Gotta be cool there with the wind coming off of Huron and probably Superior as well.

Take a look at Eagle Nest, New Mexico. One very beautiful lake and several RV parks. check www.rvparksreview.com and go to New Mexico and scroll down to Eagle Nest. It is close to Angle Fire and Taos.

Haven't stayed there however friends have a place there that they spend a great deal of time there and we have other friends that have been Camp Host at one of the parks.

Yup, Eagle Nest and Angel Fire NM just up the road are the closest cool summer destination from Texas, OK, etc.

With an elevation of 8,000' it is very rare that you will need your A/C, even in July and August.

Check out our Big Rig Map view out on our site - www.mhrig.com

Every site on the map has links back to bloggers reviews who have coaches that are over 40+ feet. You can tell which ones are on lakes by where they are on the map. one of my favorite would be Baldridge campground on Lake Lanier in cumming, ga. Grand Lake in florida and we are staying at Lake Greenwood next week (Review to follow)

Please let me know if you have any questions
