Hi karenandcollins, This is a really good question. The only safes I have seen are those that come from the manufacturer. They are usually located in the rear closet and are built into the coach wall/floor. If this might work for you, consider contacting the manufacturer of your coach and see what they can offer.

Good campgrounds for 40' plus D/pushers along I-80 PA & OH
garykd replied to mandalay07's topic in Campgrounds
Hi Stan, The dates mentioned in the OP are over Memorial weekend. On a holiday weekend, reservations may be needed. Sorry, I can not help with any CG suggestions. -
Hi Eagle, I am sorry to hear there is a cost/gallon for using a debit card at the truck pumps. Have you considered not using a debit card at the J pumps? I use CCs that give me cash back. At this time consider the American Express Cash Back Card. I get 5% back on all fuel, groceries and pharmacy purchases. There is no limit by the month or year. For fuel, there is a limit per fill up. While I do not remember what the limit is, it has not been a problem for me (100 gallon tank). There is no annual fee.

Hi PABEAV56, I use Penzoil 15W-40, just because I've been using it for years with no problems. I'm also of the belief that once one starts to use a particular brand of oil, one does not change. Find something you can find easily and go with it. Any major brand of oil will do.

Hi rxfootdoc, Welcome to the FMCA forum. Consider purchasing a Passport America, Good Sam, etc kind of memberships. These have a low initial cost that can be recovered quickly by using the CG discount benefit. As you get some time "under your belt", you'll have a better idea of how to define your camping needs and how you intend to camp in the near future. It is important to understand these needs so you can evaluate if the more expensive (up front) clubs are something that would benefit you. Thousand Trails may have over 1000 different kinds of memberships. An important consideration is if you decide to join one of these organizations, look at purchasing a membership in the aftermarket environment. They usually are very inexpensive. You are correct, it is confusing. Over 32 years of owning a motor coach, we have evolved through several different kinds of camping scenarios. All were appropriate for that particular time in our lives. As an example, we will be touring for 4 more years (Gkids need to see the USA). Then we will be more of reverse snow birds. Our residence is in south Florida where we will winter. We are now looking for a condo style CG (sense of community) in the North where we can enjoy cool summers. It will take us several years to make that decision. Unless, of course, the wife falls in love with one of the many we are previewing.

Hi tltampa22, Welcome to the FMCA forum. Family Motor Coaching magazine's towing guide for 2010 says only GMC Terrain vehicles with a 6-speed automatic transmission can be towed four wheels down. Go to http://www.fmca.com/index.php/motorhome/to...04-towing-index to read the towing guide.

Hi Eagle, The J provides me value and no other fueling company comes close. As long as the value is there I'll stay at the J.

Hi Joe, Welcome to the FMCA forum. Go to http://www.rexhallrvc.org/ and read about the FMCA chapter dedicated to RexHall motor coach owners.

Hi Marv, You are correct. Maybe a quantity discount price can be negotiated?

Hi Gary-Val, dalltop and I are in the same situation. I purchased my dolly in 05. The tires had no weights. Got the tires spin balanced. So far, the wear is nice and even across both tires.

Hi skyking8, I can not answer your question. However, if you GOOGLE "foggy RV window repair" you'll get a bunch of choices. Maybe one will work for you.

Hi Bill, I agree with Brett. Once the coach is parked, the automotive components go to sleep and are not disturbed until the coach is to travel again. I do run the generator once a month for 1 hour. The generator is put under load via the HVAC and HWH. This is for the benefit of the electricity generating part of the generator not the automotive part. I shut off the HVAC and HWH for about 5 minutes before shutting down the generator. This does allow the automotive part of the generator to come up to operating temp.

For those that need the service, this remains a good deal. Maybe they should give the $5 to the guy behind the coach dumping!

Hi neilcarol, I think you have your work cut out for you to find something in Wausau. All I could find are two public parks with 14 day stay limits. If you'd like info on these, post here. I did find one private CG. It is about 15 miles south on I39, exit 175. 715-457-2484 is the contact number. The name of the CG is Lake Dubay Shores CG. It is rated 7+ by the TL directory. This may be the best bet, for you. It is on a large lake. The lake atmosphere might be a good respite from the moving tasks.

Spring Weather Traveling To Pennsylvania And NY
garykd replied to Pat60's question in Destinations/Attractions
Hi Pat, Don't be too concerned about bad weather in a coach. I've survived an F1 tornado and a very bad hail storm. For me, the thing to remember is slides in (main slide first) and jacks down. We'll be right behind you leaving Florida for the north country. -
Grand Canyon from Pensacola area

Hi bh7800, What kind of information are you looking for? If it's things to see, how much time will you take for the trip? If it is CGs, what kind of CGs do you like to stay at. Please give all the information about the trip so replies can be tailored to what will be helpful to you. -
Hi Wayne, I do not understand what you do not understand! My post recommends the OP understand each contract. I provided an example of a difference between GS and CN in an accident situation. Your post provides an example of a situation not related to an accident. The situation mentioned in your post is handled the same way for GS and CN services.
-
Hi thomasp, You'll need to read the contract and purchase the service that meets your requirements. All of them call the same tow truck vendors. There are subtle differences in the service contracts. An example is GS covers a tow due to an accident. CN has a convoluted customer pays, gets a denial from their insurance company and then sends all the documents to CN to determine if they will pay for the tow. Understand your GS RV Insurance and determine it it meets your towing needs. You may need to call the company to understand what coverage is provided. For me, ERS is needed. I would not leave home without it.

Hi SergeantMajor, Thank you for your service to our country. Consider the following: 1. Attend the Newmar International Rally. Go to http://www.newmarkountryklub.com/2010-inte...-goshen-in.html to read about the rally and register online. We've been attending since 2006 and have always seen Americans of African decent at the rally. 2. Go to http://www.naarva.com/ and read about an RV organization. They focus on events with an ethnic flavor. 3. Go to http://campingrving.suite101.com/article.c...all-backgrounds. This Specialty RV Travel Clubs for Americans of All Backgrounds. After working in 3rd world countries for over 14 years, I understand how your wife feels.

Hi Montie, After you get used to driving with the stabilizer, consider http://www.hendersonslineup.com/products/m...suspension.html. Of all the after market products, these air bag restrictors did the most (after the steering stabilizer) to improve the sideways push from trucks and wind.

Hi Laurie, Welcome to the FMCA forum. Bear with me on this suggestion. Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky come together in this area. Consider this: 1. The Creation Museum. Go to http://creationmuseum.org/ to read about it. Just southwest of Cincinnati, just off the beltway (I275, exit 11). 2. Camp at Little Farm On The River RV Park in Rising Sun, Indiana (812-438-4500). Just north of Rising Sun. Go to http://www.littlefarmresort.com/index2.html to read about the CG. 3. About a mile from the CG is Grand Victoria Casino. Got to http://grandvictoria.com/en/ to read about it. 4. The Courtyard is a nice restaurant in Rising Sun. Go to http://www.rscourtyard.com/ to read about it. It is right in historic downtown Rising Sun. #1 is about 30 miles from #2, 3 and 4. #s 2, 3 and 4 are all within 5 miles of each other. Have fun, we did.

Spring Weather Traveling To Pennsylvania And NY
garykd replied to Pat60's question in Destinations/Attractions
Hi Pat, By the time you leave, you'll be at the tail end of the spring storm season. For me, I have no problem traveling to PA and NY leaving Florida in late May. I'd have more of a concern with Memorial Day weekend traffic. If it was me, I'd leave after Memorial day. Come to think of it I do leave after Memorial Day. South Florida to Niagara Falls. -
Trip from Ocala, FL to Gettysburg, Pa and Niagara Falls, NY
garykd replied to Pat60's question in Destinations/Attractions
Hi Pat, There are a couple of ways to get to I81. You can: 1. Take your favorite road to I95. I95 to I26 in SC. I26 West to I77 in Columbia, SC. I77 North to I81. 2. Take I75 North to Knoxville, TN. You'll see signs to I81. 3. Take I75 North to I 85. I85 to I77 in Charlotte, NC. Routes 1 and 3 will have you making the climb beginning at the NC/VA border. Route 2 from Chattanooga to Knoxville has quite a few short climbs. The roads also is left and right as well as up and down. The shortest route is #1. Route 2 has one going through Atlanta. Route 3 has one staying on the Atlanta beltway. If one does this in the mid morning or mid afternoon, it is not a problem. After doing this quite a few times (I live near West Palm Beach) my preferred route is #3. It is about 150 miles farther, for me, to Charlotte than route 1. Route 2 (going through Atlanta and the up/down and around) tires me out. I avoid I95 unless there is absolutely no other route to take. -
The inverter mentioned in the OP is from the Xantrex web site: AC Power Inverter with High Surge Capability, 3-Stage Charger With filtered modified sine wave output, Freedom inverter/chargers To be sure, consider calling the company at 800 670 0707.
