2005 Holiday Rambler Imperial 400 BP diesel pusher type A motorhome. During lightning storm I arrived at Motorhome, entered turning on lights which dimmed (brown out) to almost black. So turned lights off. After storm lights would not work. only plug in receptacles work. I installed a new inverter box, but no change. Removed surge protector and plugged directly to power plug , no change. Looking for ideas.

It turned out to be a bad generator voltage regulator.

The technician checked the transfer switch and it shows low voltage to the switch. Thanks for your reply. Tim

Correct, the breaker on generator did not trip. It’s running fine, and starts right up. But when I am on generator power only there’s no power to the coach.

I have a 2005 Thor Damon Astoria 3769 class A motorhome with a Generac 7,500 diesel generator. Several days before I left on trip I used generator and everything was working fine. 2 days later when leaving for a trip noticed no power to coach, generator was running fine. I had shore power to coach no problem. There were no breakers tripped or fuses blown. Any ideas? Someone thought could be voltage regulator. I had it looked at by a technician recommended by campground and that’s what he thought. He checked all connections, contacts, switches, etc. Forgot to note, I was plugged into garage outlet with powercord and power was lost for 5 hours, don’t know if there’s a correlation, I had a surge protector and nothing tripped.

I had a bad converter. Replaced it, all is well! Thanks for your help, very appreciative. Tim

This is Damon Astoria 38’ motorhome diesel pusher.

Yes they were the same type

I have a converter. The monitor panel fault light is on now too.

I have replaced my coach batteries and they are not holding a charge unless I’m driving. They slowly get from 12 to 10 volts even plugged into 50 amps. I checked my converter fuses and they checked ok there. Any suggestions?

I’m not sure I will have to see, camping world installed them when booking up my new rear and side view monitors.

I appreciate your response Herman

Thanks that’s kinda what I thought. I have that on my checklist. Normally don’t let that happen.

Recently I was on a camping trip and realized the coach batteries were low and weren’t charging while plugged into 50 amp site. I checked my batteries and the water levels on both 1.5 year old batteries were low if not empty, I had not checked them in 3-4 months. I put a half gallon of distilled water into both batteries. I thought they would charge but they won’t stay charged even when plugged in at home. When I start engine and generator they show fully charged but as soon as I turn them off levels go low quickly. Are the batteries ruined by letting water levels get too low? Or could they’re be another problem?

Thank you all for your response, I am going to start on this I appreciate all your help. Tim

Thank you! I thought that was what you do but wanted to be sure. I cleaned it once this year from the engine side, sprayed simple green behind the blades. Then rinsed after 15 minutes. So if I’m over the engine, facing the rear, I need to clean the fins just behind the fan blades? Correct?

I was told by Cummins dealer my 300 Cummins rear engine Charge Air Cooler on my 2005 Thor Damon Astoria class A motorhome was completely plugged. Where exactly is it located? Is it the big radiator when I open the rear engine hood? Or is it on the other side between the radiator and engine? I would like to clean it myself to save some money. Tim

I will check, thank you!

Getting ready to use my 38’ 2005 Thor Damon Astoria diesel with 7500 diesel generator. Just got it back from shop, tires, new exhaust, replaced coach water pump. Testing generator, it started immediately, but noticed microwave did not kick in, tried using air conditioners but wouldn’t start, the use/store button by door kicks off. Is this a blown converter fuse?

Thanks, I have hot fill lines and cold fill lines.

Mine is 2005 Damon Astoria 3679 and doesn’t have a panel for transmission oil level. I have checked level with dipstick when cold, it shows slightly below the low level line. I will add through dipstick tube to bring level back to center then check again hot. Thanks!

I have a basic question. I have not added transmission oil to my 2500 MH Allison transmission yet. Where do you add oil? I see a diagram in manual that shows available oil fill tube location, is this the fill location? Or can it be done at dipstick? I have a 38’ class A diesel pusher.
