I've always debated with myself on when to do the annual oil/filter change. If I change it at the beginning of the season, March lets say, and by the end of December I begin to use it only occasionally until March comes around again, the engine is sitting there with all kinds of bad stuff in the oil that can't be doing the moving parts any good.
As mentioned in Five's previous post, chemicals such as sulfuric acid may be in the oil. Well, that sure can't be good for the bearings, etc.
Thoughts anyone?

Thanks for the response. I am a bit surprised about the "Good" way of engine exercising. Personally, I'll stick with the 30 day 25 miles drive format.

Did you tell them they can't join because they don't meet the demographics? They should be required to bring along three new members in the 35-45 age group.

Of course you need to maintain the water level as part of your maintenance program.
I'm just relating my experience with my desulfators and others may have exactly the opposite experience. My experience with the previous coach using my desulfator; the house batteries were going on 7 years when I sold the coach. I used the desulfator twice a year.
BTW, Herman, lead sulfation is a normal process during the charge/discharge process and occurs even when the plates are covered with electrolyte.

If you would provide your coach info you may find out you already have a desulfator in your charger. And yes, I have a desulfator built in to my charger and I've successfully used it. I also have another portable that I use on all my vehicles. My lawn tractor being one that I use to get one year on a battery and I'm going on 4 years now that I use the desulfator.

In my 2008 Bounder Diesel, I replaced the Norcold with the Samsung RF18. I used the ice maker plug for power, 2000W pure sign wave inverter, 4 - 6Volt wet cell batteries. Never had any power issues but always had hard ice cream.
Lowes drivers unloaded the Norcold and set the Samsung in the Norcold opening for me all through the passage door. I gave them 20 bucks each.
BTW...its currently on sale for $999 at Lowes.

Welcome to the world we live in. I find it interesting to take my $30,000 Jeep in to have the heads replaced under warranty, I get it back in 3 days. I take my motorhome in to get a light bulb changed and get it back in three weeks. We pay for PDI and then we do the QA on it. AND we let them get away with it but then like you kept saying, "but, no choice, right?".

Brett, I suggest making the discussion of engine starting a new thread. I think it may turn into a good discussion that many may possibly miss because this thread started as a discussion on air compressors, (tire air pumps).

To be classified a vehicle wouldn't it need a motor? Therefore, snowshoes are out but a snowmobile is in. Then the question becomes, would a dog be considered a motor for a dog sled? This is going to get very complicated but I have confidence the FMCA management team has carefully considered all the options and will inform us after the votes have been tallied. Sounds like a bill congress passed so they could find out what was in it.

Come on, Carl. He is being proactive should the vote pass to allow all recreational vehicles to become members. Please notice he identified his RV as a Fleetwood Bounder, some may have an Ocean Kayak Frenzy, some a Schwinn Town & Country bike, etc. After all, they are by definition a recreational vehicle.

I tend to agree with this statement. Why should I spend time recruiting a new member when FMCA doesn't do anything to recruit new members. I recently bought a new motorhome and there was information in the suitcase regarding CoachNet, what would it take to have information about FMCA included also? I'm a member of Good Sam's and its never been suggested I solicit new members.
I gave up talking to people about becoming a member of FMCA when I couldn't come up with any valid reasons for them to be a member. Tires? My rig is 2 years old. Medical Assist? We don't travel that far from home. Rallies? We don't do rallies. National convention? We don't have three weeks of vacation available at one time. Bottom line, what is the value to the Generation X group and that is the group thats needed to lower the Medical Assist premiums. If the Generation X motorhome owners find no value in being a member of a motorhome club, why should a "recreational vehicle owner" find any value. Worse case scenario, trailers are allowed to join, who do you think will find a worthwhile benefit? The 70+ year olds pulling travel trailers because of the Medical Assist program. Now FMCA has a larger problem.

Byron, if you check their reviews they are still getting very good reviews on customer service. As always, some people have issues that are of no fault of the manufacturer but need to find somebody to blame for their misuse of the product.
My first one was the hard wired which was trouble free for 10 years and saved me several times from high/ low voltage and incorrectly wired campground pedestals. I expect the same results form the current one.

I've had both Coachnet and Good Sams and I've had good and bad experiences with both. I truly believe it has everything to do with the person at the respective company that takes your call.

Oh no....I had forgotten that stuff. Only one way, time to grow new skin. As I recall, I disposed of all my work clothes after that stint. I was 7 on 7 off working out of Galveston for Penrod Drilling.

I really don't know what it costs, Bill, if you say $39 I trust you looked it up. I just remembered reading about this planner that met most of the OP's needs. Like I reported, I've never used it.
It makes no difference since the OP never visited the site after asking the question.
