Sorry, but solicitations to buy or sell of any kind are prohibited out of respect to our paying advertisers. This part of the forum rules includes, but is not limited to, soliciting money for non-profits and posting classified-type ads such as Craigslist. A swap meet (for small items) or a skills trading area -- swap your skills for those of others -- may be considered in the future.

You had me worried about Nickolas, the way this blog entry started out. I'm glad he's okay. I guess teeth cleaning -- like any other procedure involving anaesthesia -- isn't always routine. This gives me another excuse, besides the cost -- not to have my dog's done.

Federal CG Continue Discounts To Seniors & Disabled
tmoning replied to banditrider776@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
Maybe this can be stopped if the Forest Service hears from enough people ... The U.S. Forest Service has proposed to eliminate the 50 percent discount at National Forest campgrounds that has been available to holders of lifetime Senior and Access (permanent disability) passes. The change would apply at campgrounds managed by private concessioners. Private Concessioners represent approximately 50 percent of National Forest camping capacity and 82 percent of reservable campsites. Current policy requires concessioners to honor Senior and Access passes for campground fees under the same terms as if the Forest Service operated the facility directly, meaning that a 50 percent discount must be offered. Most highly developed campgrounds are now managed by concessioners. The half-price rule has been in place since the mid-'60s. In the Dec. 1 Federal Register, the Forest Service presented a new policy that would replace the half-price rule with a 10 percent discount. The proposed policy would also require Senior and Access pass holders to pay a fee at National Forest day-use sites that are currently covered in full by their passes. Day-use sites managed by concessioners would also be affected by the changes. Holders of the annual America the Beautiful Pass would be entitled to free entry, but Senior and Access lifetime pass holders would get only a 10 percent discount. This changes current policy, which calls for all three passes to be honored equally at day-use fee sites. Seniors 62 and older pay a one-time $10 fee for their lifetime pass. Lifetime passes for the permanently disabled are free. Together, Senior and Access passes represent more than 78 percent of all pass sales, according to the Forest Service. Read the full proposal and send your comments electronically at this Regulations.gov page: http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/hom...900006480a60f36 OR, send comments via postal mail to: Attn: Carolyn Holbrook U.S. Forest Service Recreation and Heritage Resources Staff 1400 Independence Avenue SW, Stop 1125 Washington, DC 20250-1125 Postal mail should reference: Proposed Directives for Forest Service Concession Campground Special Use Permits (Document ID FS-2009-0001-0001) You may also want to contact your state and Federal representatives. Comments must be received before Feb. 2, 2010. -

I'm posting this on behalf of Charlie Shrenkel, FMCA National President To all FMCA members: I have accepted the resignation of Don Eversmann as Executive Director of Family Motor Coach Association. Don has been an asset to the association for the past 11-1/2 years and will be missed by all who came in contact with him here in Cincinnati and through his many outside association contacts. All of us here at Family Motor Coach Association headquarters wish Don well in his future endeavors. A search committee for a new Executive Director will be put in place and the process will begin shortly. Charlie Schrenkel, F140050 National President Family Motor Coach Association

In regard to the chili ... Same thing happened to me a few years ago, when FMCA held a cookoff among staff. I was robbed, beaten by a steak or chicken of beef or some thick concoction that bore little resemblance to or flavor of chili. At least not any traditional chili to which I'm accustomed. So, note to chili coofoff judges everywhere: It's a CHILI cookoff! Do you know what, though? As for overall taste, those other concoctions tasted better than my chili. But I still have one claim to fame: My chili won the award for "Most Likely to Sleep Alone." P.S.: Best Pixar film: The Incredibles.
-
To all of our veterans: Thank you for your service to our country. We're very proud to have so many former members of the Armed Services as members of FMCA.
-
I'm posting the following questions at the request of Charlie Schrenkel, FMCA national president: Do you currently carry pet health insurance? Would you be interested in purchasing insurance for your pet(s) through an FMCA group discounted rate?

This news release was issued today by the U.S. Department of the Interior ... Secretary Salazar Honors Veterans with Fee Free Day at National Parks, Refuges and Other Interior Lands To honor America’s service men and women, secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today announced that areas managed by the department will not charge entrance fees on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Visitors to public recreation lands managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation are invited to take a day to honor and reflect on what our service men and women have done to maintain our freedom and keep peace around the world, Salazar said. “The Department of the Interior is honored to offer this fee free day to thank our nation’s service men and women,†said Salazar said “The sacrifices and achievements of the brave men and women of our armed forces can never be understated. We invite all of our visitors to enjoy this fee free day and take time out on this national holiday to remember our service men and women who are currently serving overseas in harm's way. †The Department of Agriculture also is waiving entrance fees at its national forests.

The forums are the heart of the FMCA.com Community. If you're comfortable using forums in general, then feel free to jump in without reading any further. If you'd like a bit more of an overview of how to find and create messages, then read on. A note on time zones: The default time zone for the forums is Eastern time. To set your time zone so your messages will reflect your time zone: Click your username at the top right of the screen. From the menu, select "My Settings." Select your time zone. Categories, Forums and Threads You can enter specific forums, such as the "Forum support" forum that you clicked to read this message, from the Forums homepage. The forums are grouped in categories, such as Motorhomes, Technical and Travel, and named for the general topics they're intended to contain. Upon entering a forum, you will see a list of topics, also known as topic "threads." A topic thread is a new message or set of messages on the same subject. When a forum member creates a new message topic, that is the start of a new thread. When other forum members reply to that original message, and to each other's replies, the thread grows into a set of related messages that are all part of the same thread. By default, the topic lists on the FMCA.com forums are sorted by date, with the most recent topics on top. To read the messages in a topic, click a topic's title. When viewing the messages within a topic, the first, or root, message will be on top, with replies listed below by order of when they were posted. Searching the Forums One way to think of the messages in the FMCA.com forums is as a searchable knowledgebase of information about motorhoming. If you have a question, you may want to try searching the forums first, before asking a question by starting a new thread. By searching the forums first, you may find what you're looking for without the need to compose a message and wait for a reply. New Topics and Why Topic Titles are Important If you can't find the information you're looking for, or if you just want to share a tip, go into an appropriate forum for your topic and click "New topic." When you create a Topic Title for your message, try to include key elements of your question or tip. Keep in mind that the Topic Title is what others will see when deciding if they can help you or if they are interested in reading your topic. Give some thought on how to best summarize your message. Sometimes it's easier to define the subject after you've finished writing the main body of the message. Text Formatting: Use Sparingly The message editor provides rich-text editing features for controlling font and formatting options, but I recommended using default fonts and simple paragraph formatting. Overuse of formatting features can make it more difficult to read a message and may result in other forum members skipping over your message rather than reading and responding to it. Simple and Clear for Everyone For every message posted in the forums, there will be hundreds of other forum members and visitors who will search or browse through the forums looking for the same information. So when answering a question on a technical issue, try to explain your answer in straightforward language, avoiding technical jargon whenever possible, even if the question was phrased in a way that suggests a high level of expertise. Using straightforward language will help to ensure that your message can be understood by everyone who may read it. More Than Questions and Answers You don't have to ask or answer a question to participate in the FMCA.com forums. Another way to join in the discussions is to share tips, advice and experiences with others. Thanks for reading. Enjoy the forums!

Typically the author of a deleted post is notified. We'll make sure that it gets done in the future. Some forum visitors tell us they get annoyed by off-topic posts and they just skip over some authors' posts for that reason. Those off-topic strings probably were the ones that were deleted. Please note: We do not censor opinions or ideas on the forums. We do take action, though, against posts or topics that could cause unrest in the community beyond a civil and polite disagreement.
