Well, for the third time I will have to take my 2011 F53/Southwind back to Ford. I just got back from a trip across the Midwest and parked the rig for several days and now I have a puddle underneath. On the last two trips to Ford, they said it was overfilled and they corrected it, or so I thought. I wonder what they will say this time. The trans seems to work fine, upshifts and downshifts appropriately, doesn't overheat and at all my rest stops and RV parks, not a drop. The fluid appears to be coming out of the vent on top of the trans case.

Had a similar problem and found that the magnetic strip attached to the screen door had broken off. Any rv parts store can fix you up. be sure of the color though, white or black, they are different. Meanwhile, go underneath your coach and and look for the electrical connection, and disconnect it. that should retract it. Good luck

Yes it's on a F-53 chassis. I will look at those links and bushings. Thanks.

What you pose is a curious dilemma. I posed that same question to G/S ERS and they would either tow me to repair facility or send out a tire changer at my expense. It seems that it would be less expensive for the ERS to pay for a tire changer than for a full tow. I have seen the bill they charge for a tow, around $350 bucks. I carry a spare tire but no rim, as the Mich/22.5 with rim is very heavy and so I guess I will let them tow me and then pay some one else for a tire swap,,,go figure.

I have a 2011 Southwind 32vs, and on my last trip across the country I noticed an unusual roll when pulling into or out of drive ways, it seems to keep rolling side to side 4-6 times or more before it stablilizes. Prior to this trip I found that the clip holding the sway bar to the axle (drivers side) was gone, clip and bolts. I replaced it before this trip. Also when the rear jack stands are out after several hours I have heard a loud bang around the area of the right side rear tires/leaf springs. I can't see anything askew. has anybody else had this problem with the 32VS, any ideas or what I should look for...

This trans is designed to tach at 4800 rpm all day,so when in a down grade, don't panic,it's normal, but if you had problems with shifting or getting it out of CC then check your fluid level. That was my first problem and then the puddle of trans fluid under the coach. As I said in the above post, once I got the correct trans fluid level all was good with the world.

Yes it was resolved. The trans was over filled and after several trips to the dealer they got it right and no more problems. To check, get the coach warmed up and find a level spot and check your fluid level. It should not exceed the top limit mark on the dip stick. After the fluid was corrected, the trans worked beautifully, in fact I drive almost always in tow haul mode. The trans still cruises at 2100 rpm at 60 mph and it automatically brakes on down grades and shift when climbing. Also when coming to a stop, it down shift and I don't have to use as much brake.

2012 Holiday Rambler With Surround Sound Home Theatre DVD?
f301359 replied to greybeard101's topic in Type A motorhomes
I agree, the radio should have nothing to do with the DVD. Take it back to your dealer and have them explain how it works and bring your favorite DVD and have them show you. My DVD goes into surround sound when I play a DVD. I also found that when I play my big screen TV, I hit the function button on the DVD front panel, to Aux1 or 2 and I also get surround broadcast through the coach--try it. Also If you are not getting surround when playing a DVD,,it's quite possible that it's not set up properly or the the RCA connections running from the DVD to your "main TV" are not connected correctly. -
I think we all have had heat problems with our Sat receivers, very similar to lap top computers. So, go to Best Buy/computer store etc. and buy a lap top fan unit that sits underneath the receiver and plugs into the usb port and will run when you are plugged into an AC source. The fan is flat about 3/8" thick and covers the size of the receiver box and has several blowers/fans. I also raised the receiver, using a cookie cooler tray that raises the receiver several inches and allows air to circulate from all sides.

I had the very same problem while coming down the El Cajon pass in So. Calif. I was in cruise control and also out of overdrive/tow-haul and the trans was shifting down and it too was taching about 4800 rpm and when I tried to disengage, the trans wouldn't. I also couldn't take it out of tow-haul and I had to hard brake and then when it slowed down it finally shifted. When I got home, about 20 miles from the Cajon, I noticed that the trans was leaking trans fluid onto the ground. The temp gauge did not show any temp rise and it appeared that the trans was pushing fluid out the top vent. This is a 2011 Southwind with 2500 miles on it. The first Ford dealer hosed off the trans and drove it and said it was fine. But in subsequent trips, hard pulls and not so hard the trans still pushed out fluid. So look under your coach for the tell tail signs of transmission fluid puddling on the top of the trans or along the underside where it's saturating your coach. The coach is back at another Ford dealership and they believe that a pressure valve is stuck, an internal problem and hopefully Ford will do more than just hose it off and tell me it's OK. Leaking fluid on the road by the way is against the law, as it's toxic and a hazardous material which you could be fined and charged for clean up costs. Also spilling trans fluid on the roadway is dangerous. if enough is sprayed underneath it can involve the rear tires and cause you to swap ends at the most unexpected time and hurt yourself, your family or some other driver. Are there others out there who have had this little glitch, and if so,how was it resolved?

My son has my old 91 Winne/Brave with a 454 chev and two things you need to consider; One, use an octane booster when you gas up or lead additive. This will save the valve seats and be advised that the current motor oils are not necessarily designed for the older engines. So, when you do an oil change add a can of STP or some other oil additive from Lucas etc. This will save a you a lot of problems down the road.
