  1. Ed, While I cannot speak to March we did spend sometime in William AZ a few years ago in December and a few years prior in July. We really liked the town and while there we stayed here;

    The train ride if you haven't done it was a lot of fun. The town of Williams was nice to walk around and check out the store fronts. I remember having a milkshake at a malt shop that looked like you fell back into the 50's. I could have sat there all day and took it in. It was called Twisters Soda Fountain and here is the link;

    Alamo KOA Resort, as close as I can think off to Downtown & River Walk!  Linda used it before she met me, say's it's easy in/out and a great park!

    YUP, nice place! If you leave from there and decide to take public transportation to the River Walk, call a cab. We took the bus and it routes into a bad part of town, we took a cab home and it was well worth the extra $25.00.

  3. Toyo310, Here is the cause of failures that I have experienced. Solenoids fail or lighten up on application pressures which cause slippage and burn up clutches. In My experience this has always happened around 80-100,000 miles. They are notorious for internal wiring chaffing against the pan, external wiring issues and Transmission Control Module failures are also fairly common. On a good note you can purchase a remanufactured 2500 for $2300.00 which in the transmission world is pretty inexpensive.

    Reminds me, I drove a DrPepper sales/delivery truck in the early 1970's, a country route, I was returning from my last stop with a nearly empty load of pop, and a nearly full load of empty bottles, an open bay truck. I was traveling about 55 mph at the time, I saw something whizzing by on the right side of the truck, about a half mile later I saw a tire on rim on the side of the road, I stopped to check it out, a quick glance at the right rear dual wheels, the outer wheel was missing, quess who the tire/rim belonged to.:ph34r:  Good thing empty bottles don't weigh too heavy.

    Kay, I cannot count how many investigations I have been involved in with "wheel off's", its common practice for most "tire experts" to mess up and improperly install, either not torqued properly or the hub flange is cruddy, either way they almost always result in a wheel off at some point.

    Before buying a new Kobalt battery, check with Interstate Battery for cost of rebuilding yours. They warranty their work. I had them rebuild 2 12V Sears battery packs for me 2 yrs ago, and they still work like new. I think the cost was $37 ea. That $74 was approx. the cost of 1 new Sears pack.

    RayIN, I would consider that if the old design had enough power to do what this Kobalt can do. I have an newer Snap on 3/8 cordless that has more power than that old 18V 1/2" drive.

    Joe, this one came with a 4 ah battery, extra is $50.00, and there is a 6 ah for $80.00.

    Good to know!! Already a better deal, technology has come a long way with battery powered tools!

    Kay, don’t forget to recheck you wheel Torque after 100 miles. Recommended by most wheel manufacturers and a good best practice to follow.

    Great question Joe, I changed the tag wheel today, and did not think to check clearance on the drive axel, so I just went out to the coach in the dark with flashlight in hand. Yes it is just small enough to fit all the way down to the lug nuts on my 12/22.5 with stainless wheel covers, and the stainless hub cover both in place without an extension. I will try to take a picture and post it tomorrow while there is daylight to snap a good picture. There is not a great deal of extra room but sufficient to achieve the intended goal on my size tire, probably not on 16, or 19.5 but the torque is not that great on those sizes, so an extension will be no problem on those.

    Kay, works for me! Thank you!!

    I currently have the Snap on version which is in need of new batteries and it’s an older snap on model (from 2004) that doesn’t have that much power. I was going to replace the batteries but those alone cost more than the Kobalt :o

  7. Kay, great review and thank you for posting it.

    Any issues getting it into the drive axle lugs with the hub and axle so close? My concern, when you use an extension on an impact gun it lowers the Torque rating at the socket.

    Wasn't that with the 650 HP Cummins.

    I believe so, but the ISX is an ISX, HP is all software and fuel injectors. They all had Ceramic Plunger failure's in the fuel injection pump that would send pieces of ceramic through the oil system destroying the engine.

    but my recollection (it was a long time ago) was that they did not do internal engine repair, just did a modification that would allow you to know that there was excessive blow-by (result of wrist pin wear in cylinder liner).

    YUP, no internal repairs were made, just a warning devise of some sort was installed if it actually had the recall completed (I think it was a light to detect excessive crankcase pressure). Every once in a while you hear of one come apart, it always makes you wonder if it was related or not. Me personally I'd use it as a bargaining tool or if you are a worry wart, walk away.

    If you are armed with knowledge you can really use it to your advantage!

  10. hdflsts2002 Welcome to the FMCA Forum!

    We had a tankless in our last coach made by Precision Temp, it was the RV500 model which has now changed to the RV550. It was fantastic, I cannot say enough good about it. I called it the marriage saver 500 :lol:.

    My wife warned me the day we picked up the coach at the dealership, the first cold shower the coach was gone. She loves long hot showers and the 6 gallon Atwood this replaced was only good for maybe 4 minutes of HOT water before it started to slide into warm water. We never camped with the 6 gallon, I was warned when we first bought the coach, so I tested it several times in the driveway and pulled it out when I realized it was'nt going to hold up to her standards.

    I actually installed their "Tiny House" tankless into our current coach along side of the Aquahot system which is only used for interior heat now, another story, it works flawlessly also.
