  1. Don't overlook the Ready Brake Brute combo tow bar and brake system. Excellent tow bar and very simple brake system, takes less that 5 minuets to hook up once everything is installed. Once the hardware is installed nothing to put in or take out each time. I do use a Blue Ox base plate. Entire system for my 2015 Jeep Rubicon was less than 1300 dollars and I installed it myself. The Ready Rake has a light on the dash of the motorhome that lets you know when the toad brakes are applied. Got mine from Amazon.
  2. Thanks guys, that is what I was getting at. Everyone on here seems to treat everyone with respect. Like most of you I have been camping for over 50 years. Wife and I started out in a 15 foot Little Hobo travel trailer then went through every kind of camper except a pop up. We even went back to tents for a while. We just traded our 43 foot Cardinal 5th wheel and Ford F-350 King Ranch Dually for our current Gas Coach. This is our third gas coach, had two Winnebagos before. If we traveled more I would have gone DP this time but we spend 6 months out of the year parked at a Corps of Engineers site as host. In reality I probably should have keep the 5th wheel but we really love our Georgetown. Happy Easter to all.
  3. One of my biggest fears about sending in my money and joining FMCA was that as a lowly gas motorhome owner the high class DP owners would look down on me and treat me like a second class citizen because I decided to go the gasser route. I am very happy to say that those fears were unfounded and I have been treated the same as the person with the million dollar plus bus. I knew very well going in that my gasser was not going to ride like a DP with air ride. I am OK with that decision and still have lots of my dollars in the bank. May try the Sumos but so far am happy with the ride of my stock Georgetown XL.
  4. A lot more involved then just swapping transmissions. Computers, shift indicators on the dash and I'm sure things I haven't thought about.
  5. Winnebagos continuing program of product improvement makes specifications, equipment, model availability, and prices subject to change without notice. Published content reflects the most current product information at time of printing. Please consult your dealer for individual vehicle features and specifications. You might have a tough time with your case because Winnegao has this disclaimer in all their brochures. This one is from the 2016 Sunstar brochure . The last line is going to be the hardest to get by.
  6. I tow a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited behind my Georgetown and use the ready brute elite tow bar with the built in surge brake and use the Mopar wiring harness. Great system and easy to install. Once the brake cable is installed in the jeep you never to mess with it.
  7. Six claims in one year. Not surprised that they are cancelling you. You have some real bad luck to have that many incidents in one year. Most any insurance company would not renew someone that has that many claims in a 12 month or less period. Sorry for your luck and hope you have a better new year.
  8. As a previous 5th wheel owner, I got in the habit of always checking everything at each stop. There were some people that thought it was funny to pull the fifth wheel hitch release and then watch as the trailer crashed down on the truck. I had locks on mine but still did the walk around each time. I am a retired aircraft crew member so it was something that was ingrained in my mind many years ago. Good catch on yours.
  9. I think people seem to forget that there are thousands of vehicles running up and down the highway powered by propane. I wouldn't worry about propane during a accident if you are carrying 80 to 250 gallons of fuel underneath you. I was a crew member on C-5 cargo aircraft for 30 years and it always tickled me when someone would worry about a vehicle in the cargo compartment with 1/2 a tank of fuel when the aircraft had over 200,000 pounds of fuel in the wings.
  10. My new Georgetown came with the Diamond Shield and they also supplied a bottle of 303 protectant and instructions to only use that to clean the Diamond Shield with. Hope this will keep it looking good for many years.
  11. We named our new Georgetown XL 377TS "Money B Gone II". Our previous Cardinal 5th wheel was " Money B Gone I".

  13. You are not going to be happy with most answers because very few motorhomes are rated to pull that kind of weight. Most of your run of the mill diesel pushers have a 10k hitch. You will need to move into the high end like Marathon, Blue Bird, Prevost or something similar to get to these weights. You will see a lot of people towing way over their max and get away with it but they are on borrowed time. Good luck with your search.
  14. Yes, we joined already. Still trying to decide where to go on first trip. We have worked as camp host the last five years, four at a state park and last year for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  15. Does it really matter that the post is a few years old. Lots of new members since then and the question is still relevant.
