You might want to check the angle of your tow bar. It should be as parallel to the ground as possible.  The forces increase a lot when it is not, leading to increase wear on the pivot points.

It's been checked and yes, within specs. Thanks

  2. OK, we are boondocking at the Marfa Lights viewing area. It figures it's going to be the coldest night in a long time. Down to 30 degrees tonight. Anyway, when we pulled in here, we were the only ones here. Then they all started coming in, and coming in, and coming in. This place is crazy. Convinced Sweetie Pie to leave the warm coach and come out with me to see the lights. We've never been here before so we don't really know what we are looking for. I grabbed 2 beers and figured if we didn't see anything by the time I was done my brews, we'd leave. Well, my last 2 Moose Drools went down and all we saw were a bunch of zombies walking around. Nice place to park up for the night but don't ask me about no stinkin' ghost lights. Didn't see squat. Maybe somebody tripped over the cord and pulled the plug out of the wall. Cheers.

Keep in mind driving on an air ride seat can be very distracting for most people. You will find yourself bobbing up and down which can also be nauseating for people as the steering wheel and pedals gain distance and come back to you while driving.

I don't want to come off like a wise guy but if you need an air ride seat in a DP you bought the wrong DP, Super C on a truck chassis I fully understand, that will beat your teeth out of your head.

I hear ya. My seat is extremely comfortable. I just never heard of an air seat in a motorhome. In fact we probably don't even need to swap them out. Just looking into some options but I always appreciate the input.

  4. Staying at the Fort Bliss RV Park in El Paso. Been here for 6 days and leaving in the morning. We have been to a lot of parks and yes, dog crap in everyone. This park however, is the worse we have seen. Two big grassy areas, no fence, and it's about as bad as trying to walk next to a lake with a high goose population. It is a direct reflection on the management, or lack of.

He is not leveling, he is stabilizing so people can't see when the RV is rocking and rolling.

Now with that said think about the physics. Which is more stable,  a wide stance or a narrow stance. Use you legs. Stand with you feet together and have someone push your shoulder. Now stand with your feet apart and have them push your shoulder again.  It is not the point of contact but the spread of the scissors that are important. If he did not have the blocks there the stabilizers would be almost straight down. That configuration would NOT give as much stabilization as as he presently has it with the wide spread of the scissor jacks.. Also the side to side is the rock and roll so the scissor jacks are pointed in the correct position for best stabilization.  As the RV starts to rock to the side the extensions of the jacks to the side minimizes the back-n-forth.

    ThiMk about it.

p.s., send money for this explanation. My brain is working hard at this.

Post it on FMCA RVillage and iRV2.  I don't believe any member of this Forum, would be that dumb...then again.

Yeh, thought about doing it on RVillage but I wasn't sure where. I guess I could do it on "tips and tricks".

  7. You got that right. The absolute weakest way to use them. I guess they like that nice flat area when they put them on their side like that. Yep Folks, they are out there and I will continue to photograph them. Stay tuned.

I'm thinking I should maybe post this in the "levelling" section as a PSA.

  8. He's back again. Can any of you block layers tell me what's wrong here? I see this quite a bit in the RV parks, mostly with the permanents. Not so much with the motorhomes but with the bumper pulls and 5'ers who like to settle in for the long haul. I really cringe when I see guys propping their vehicles up with this set up and crawling underneath thinking they are safe. I'm sure the RV'ers that move around aren't going to carry a couple cinder blocks everywhere they go but I could be wrong.

    Punxsey.

Thanks, now it makes sense! :D  Some times I'm a little "slow" on the up take! :(

Joe L. I forgot the GS Charter Life plate, hardly ever put it out...I may do that, more now that we are a brother/sister? club...No plaque for Escapees!

Haha, no problem Carl. Slow is better than none at all. I'm with ya.

There are 2 holes in a Goose Egg, you attached one to the ladder,  the other hole that is in the air, has an attachment in it.  What is it for, a flag?

Wayne.  You only get the suction cup part...Sorry, but mines in the center! :P  I also use another set to identify the Chapter I'm with at that Chapter Rally....on the right side! :D

OK, not sure what you're looking at but I'll try to break it down for ya. There is an angled piece of aluminum about 2' long, with 6 holes drilled into it. 2 holes on the left for the egg and then to the right of that are 2 holes for the left pipe clamp and then 2 holes on the right side for the right pipe clamp. The egg isn't attached to the ladder, it's bolted onto to angled piece which is then bolted to the ladder.
