0 mailman Report post Posted June 26, 2018 Zeboray Hello, I just return from a trip to the Ozarks . I would strongly tell all to stay off this section . Sections of open road are good "BUT" every bridge or underpass was the worst mistake of using this RT 70. I live in Northern upper Ohio on the Sandusky Bay. MCD shades do not like this road. Pad all storage areas to keep from breaking your treasures. I lost a couple of springs inside the MCD Shades. The road is falling apart . In talking to the truckers who drive this road, do not have anything to say good about it. Every thing vibrates off tables and counter tops. I just return home a week ago from a round trip to the Ozarks. You see all kinds of retreads tire laying off the side of the road way. The pot Holes you can not avoid. 0 obedb Report post Posted June 26, 2018 Always ran in the left lane when I could. Most of the really rough pavement is in the slow lane (right lane). Illinois is just plain broke. 0 wildebill308 Report post Posted June 27, 2018 Just drove it in the last couple of days. I think Indianapolis to Dayton was the roughest area. I am going north so Dayton is as far east as I am going on I-70. Some of the frost heaves and just plain deteriorated road. I hit some areas that were rough enough I thought I had a flat. I got this response from the manager of a friends racing team that is based in Indianapolis, and this is the response (please keep in mind I am only concerned with St. Louis to Indy, not further): Asked two different drivers - really no issues - Interstate 65 is bad tho. 0 mailman Report post Posted July 3, 2018 ZEBORAY, Yes , I wrote before. BUT, if you can figure out how to ride the fast lane on rt 70 at 60-65 mph in a 70 mph zone you should maybe be OK. 0 obedb Report post Posted July 3, 2018 Done it for years in 18 wheelers and motorhomes. Have never gotten even a warning from a state cop. In the late 70's the stretch of interstate ( oddly it was I 70 ) from the PA pike to West Virgina was an absolute mess. Left the toll road, got in the left lane and stayed there until WV. Only four wheelers with newly found CB radios complained. I explained why I was staying in the left lane and they understood. Politicians are to blame for the mess regardless of party. 0 zeboray Report post Posted July 31, 2018 Okay I did it. From Knob Noster to St. Louis the road was great until I arrived in St Louis (at that point it got bumpy but nothing serious). From St. Louis to Indy the road was great - other than a few bumpy spots. The worst were the bridges that included pot holes. All that said, I would gladly drive the route again. Now, going from Indy to Ohio may be bad; I'm not going that route so I will have no idea. Nothing broke or fell out of cabinets and my cats survived without complaining!
