The previous owner replaced the rear tires with 295/80 22.5s The manufacture on the label inside calls for 275/80 22.5. thoughts? Should I have them replace them? As long as they are the right load range and arn't rubbing or having a problem with clearance I don't see a problem. I am understanding the date code is good? They are actually giving you a little overdrive 62 actual at 60 mph. wolfe10 Report post Posted November 14, 2019 Mike, The 295/80 is quite a lot larger than the 275/80-- it is wider, taller and fewer revolutions per mile (will have some effect on speedometer and gearing). From Michelin's RV tire guide: Revolutions per mile: 275/80 is 518 295/80 is 500 Michelin does not show a 295/75, but a Goodyear 295/75 is 517 revolutions per mile-- VERY close to the 275/80R22.5.. A 295/75 is VERY close and is often substituted. With the 295/75, if minimum dual spacing is OK (very likely it is) you are good to go. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
mscress Report post Posted June 9, 2020 09 June 2020 Good Day, Currently on my 2014 Tiffin Phaeton 40 QBH, have 6 year old Michelin 275/80R 22.5 XZE2, ready to replace have researched tires and spoken to various tire dealers including Local Continental "Guy", who is recommending replacement with Continental HSL3 - 295/75 22.5 for the Michelin 275/80R 22.5; coincidentally , two (2) of the locally Toyos" Dealers, both recommended replacing the Michelin's with Toyo 295/75R 22.5, withe the Toyo M154 Model, they all say no dual spacing issues with the larger tire, difference in price installed Toyo M154 $3032.71 , FMCA Continental HSL3 $3247.14 😎. wolfe10 Report post Posted June 9, 2020 Mike, Dual spacing is dependent on the WHEELS. Yes, the 295/75R22.5 is a common replacement for a 275/80R22.5. You do need to make sure the extra width in the front doesn't cause the tire to contact suspension or body components when at maximum cut-angle. Also, be aware that Continental DOES have the 275/80R22.5 as listed on the FMCA Tire Discount page for Continental tire. In fact, that is the brand and size we had on our 2003 Alpine. Nothing basically wrong with web site tire size calculations but for "Dual" (rear side by side on many Motorhomes) "Minimum Dual spacing is a critical dimension that you will probably only find in the tire company data sheets. Most can be found on-line. I have a post I try and keep up to date with links to many different tire company Load / Inflation and specification information.
