rayin Report post Posted October 30, 2021 DW and I have improved health and are casually looking at a 2008 American Coach American Tradition 40Z on consignment at motor home specialist of Texas. Our trusty Winnebago Ultimate Freedom 40JD has became too small for us,, especially having one bathroom. We've only looked at that webpage so far, however when we are satisfied that is the floorplan we both want i'll get in contact with them via their website to begin a conversation. We both want a floorplan with 1½ baths, want_ heck we need them at our ages. I know I'll have fluids analysis for coolant, drive engine oil, Allison transmission fluid. Other than that it's kind of a crap shoot IMO.

manholt Report post Posted October 30, 2021 Ditto to that. My 2010 was the most solid ride coach I ever owned.
five Report post Posted October 30, 2021 AC made some really good coaches around that year, many on the road. You can always tell an AC coach from a distance....it's one of the very few that has inverted side mirrors. As a benefit, the mirrors have triple glasses, with the bottom oriented on the respective front tire. They are a great help navigating through tight construction zones or small towns that have curbs and no shoulders...you can see exactly where the tire is in relation to the obstruction. rayin Report post Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) Interesting response email. I had emailed MHSRV of Texas about that MH. Today the response said they were sorry they couldn't get back to me, or if i phoned, that they didn't answer. Buck Buchner said they had 12-15 salesmen on duty on any given day, and they have been getting 200-300 calls a day; and to look at their inventory for something that might suit me. Bottom line, I have no idea if that MH is still on the market, it's still on their website. Edited November 3, 2021 by rayin
hermanmullins Report post Posted November 3, 2021 It shows "Sale Pending" on their website. Herman

That is true, I am also seeing any nice coach go quickly for near new pricing. Friends sold a 2 1/2 year old Tiffin for what they payed for it the same day they listed it. five Report post Posted November 6, 2021 Many folks have a hang up regarding DEF. It's the same as the switch from leaded to unleaded gas many years ago. It is the way it is....most 18 wheeler tractors are trucks with DEF and doing fine.
rayin Report post Posted November 6, 2021 (edited) This MH is still listed on MHSRV website as sale pending. No further contact from sales dept. Edited November 6, 2021 by rayin
manholt Report post Posted November 6, 2021 Most don't bother to change pending, until money is paid. Then its sold!
hermanmullins Report post Posted November 7, 2021 Five, the biggest hang up now in DEF is the availability of parts like pumps, heads and chips. With all that is happening at present I am happy to have my 2002 400 ISL. No Regin., no Particulate Filter and no DEF. Here's hopping the shortages ends soon. I waited 4 months for a part from HWH only to be shipped the wrong part. Had my old part remanufactured and it will be installed Monday. Herman

I was talking to a groupe today and they said they were having a hard time finding DEF in stores like Walmart. I am like you, glad I don't need it. Korea having such a shortage of DEF truckers were being sidelined when they ran out. It said S. Korea imports virtually all DEF from China. Anyway, MHSRV isn't bothering to return my emails or calls. The contacts name there is Buck Buckner.

rayin Report post Posted November 11, 2021 I finally received a response from "Buck" with MSRV that 2008 MH was already sold, they are just waiting on the new owner to come take it home. That 2008 at PPL Bill provided looks great too, we might pursue that one. We talked about our future, our health, how much longer we will be able to travel in a MH, and are swaying towards keeping our old Ultimate Freedom for as long as it or us(I'm 79) are able to travel. I've kept it in top condition, and it should have many trouble-free years ahead. The trade-in value is below $25k from everyone we've talked to about trading up, yet the average book value is ~$50k. An aside; I was making sure everything works before leaving for FL. and the water heater would not stay lit. I unplugged and re-attached the igniter/flame sensor wire from the potted control board and now it works as designed. It's a wonder how low voltage terminals can corrode enough to insulate the connection, simply from not being used.
