Hurricane Causing Change Of Vacation Plans

Question

We are going to be in Red Bay Alabama Tuesday to visit Tiffin.

We were planning on going down to the Gulf after that but now am in doubt because of the weather. We live in Missouri, so whats to see between Red Bay and St Louis.

There is always Graceland in Memphis as well as Memphis itself. While not "along the way" St. Louis is a great place to visit with lots to see and do. If you like the casino thing there are also some nice ones in the Tunica, MS area just S. of Memphis.

Why not head straight south along the Mississippi? Besides Memphis, you could stop at Natchez and spend a few days touring some of the antebellum homes. That should keep you west of the anticipated path of the hurricane. Your appointment may be postponed as Alabama is predicted to be pretty close to ground zero for this storm. It is not uncommon to have areas near landfall out of commission for days after a hurricane. Do keep your eye on the forecast. New Orleans is still on the fringe of the cone of certainty. You don't want to be anywhere near the hurricane. Tiffin will understand.

Oh, yes, don't forget to stop for some throwed rolls at Lamberts in Sikeston!

Oh, yes, don't forget to stop for some throwed rolls at Lamberts in Sikeston! --- Good Suggestion, Tom

If you miss Sikeston, Lambert's also has (or did the last time we were there) a restrurant in Foley, AL.

If you decide to go to Natchez there is a very nice campground on the Louisiana side of Mississippi River (Riverview RV Park) in Vidalia, La. Nice walking path and good view of river. Several casinos there and some good eating places. Enjoy!

You are making a wise decision to go to Ark.for the time or until Isaac clears the area and then not sure what effects the storm will leave. We live about 40 miles north west of New Orleans and are prepared. If at a later date you decide to come south, Lamberts in Foley is open, Gulf Shores State Park is a great place to camp. We have stayed here in a 45'. If you go to Ark. you need to check out Petit Jean State Park in Morrilton, Ark, its worth a stay and car trip to Mt. Nebo and Mt. Magazine State Park.
