  1. I never thought I would need a storage building larger than 40' x 50' either but I never thought I would need to store two Jeeps, a Chevy Silverado pu and a golf cart, well I did know about the pu. I sure wish it was 50' x 60'.

All I was suggesting is while you're installing an outlet why not spend a few extra dollars and know you'll always be covered. Heck, I managed for years on a 20amp circuit but I sure enjoy being able to run the ac while we're loading for trips since we have 50amps available.

It was only a suggestion and maybe to some its a foolish suggestion.

  2. You may want to consider installing a 50amp outlet. You may someday have a RV that uses 50 amp service and you'll be glad you have the outlet. You would need a 50 amp male to a 30 amp female dogbone pigtail adapter. The only price difference would be in materials, the labor should be about the same.

Personally, I would also be looking for a different electrician.

  3. Keeping the fridge low is better especially if you need to reach something on the top shelf! Be sure you know exactly how high things will be before you start cutting wood (not wind, wood!)

Unless you're tall like me. When we built our new s&b home, we built the kitchen and master bath counters 2" taller than standard height and raised the dishwasher 12" off the floor.

  4. Here ya go Rich...copy and pasted from the Splendide website.

"What kind of fabric softener/How much should I use?"

Answer: We recommend using 1-2 tablespoons of a liquid fabric softener as needed - to reduce wrinkling and speed drying. Bio-friendly fabric softeners, or those that appear light in color, dissolve more quickly in less water and minimize build-up within your machine and in the environment. NEVER use fabric softener sheets.

  5. Thanks for posting your positive experience at Motorhomes of Texas, Dougnorm.

They sell hundreds if not thousands of RV's each year and of course there will be those that are not satisfied for whatever reason. There is a saying in business, "do a great job for a customer and they may tell one person; do a bad job and they will tell twenty people".

We have all heard about Bob Tiffin and the great customer service you receive when buying their product but my friends with Tiffin products often need to drive to Red Bay to get the service. You don't necessarily get it from their dealers.

  6. I don't know what motorhome you have, JohnJill, but some manufactures have used particleboard for their sub-flooring. I would not want to get that material very wet.

I guess you would want to be prepared to be out of your motorhome for several hours with the a/c running to allow time for the carpet to dry.

  7. My opinion only: I try to let my holding tank get close to full before I dump. To me this keeps the walls damp therefore not allowing residue to cling to the sides, dry and then flake off and clog the valve. I always use our built in sprayer several time until it runs clear, them I will dump the gray tank. to me this helps clean the hose. When we return home I repeat the process and then rinse the hose down the drain with fresh water. I always do this and then put in a bag of chemicals into the tank when we return home. I do this to keep down any potential odors.

This is also my procedure, except I have never used any chemicals in my tanks. The real key is lots of water and not dumping until full/almost full. I also use the Geo Method a couple time per year...Google it if your interested.

  8. I also had a problem with the door handle. I called Fleetwood customer service, they emailed me a drawing of what I needed to do, I repaired it and moved on.

Yes, it was an inconvenience, but I don't need another government agency involved in my day to day life.

This is strictly my opinion and others can totally disagree.

  9. I trust the Freightliner Service Center in Gaffney; they are professionals. I've been quoted a time of 2 hours or less @ $85/hour plus my FCOC discount. I admire those of you who have the equipment and desire to do the heavy mechanical work on your motorhome, its just not something I want to do.

Thanks for the info on jack stands, etc.

  10. Save some dough and install them yourself.

By the time I buy a jack large enough, heavy duty jack stands and any necessary tools to perform this task, I will most likely save some money paying someone else to install the shocks.

I'm glad to hear another good experience with the Koni shock.

  11. Now you know, Mr. Ernie.

I'm finding that Ernie is not only a quality craftsman but a pretty decent rv tech too.

Brett, you may remember its a pet peeve of mine. It is just common courtesy to let those that offered help know the results.

I trust everyone had a safe and happy 4th celebrating our countrys independence.

  12. Fixed. My Deisel Bounder Forum buddies came through. Pull the fuse behind the t-stat cover, wait 15 seconds, replace the fuse and don't push any buttons for 30 seconds.

    It is now working properly.

It is caused by RF interference from a fluorescent ballast going bad.

Thanks for the help from all.
