Welcome to FMCA.

Sorry to say that there are no great, good or even bad campgrounds in or near Chicago. I would stay in Indiana and then in Wisconsin or Iowa.

ultraglide replied to pacurran's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
We have a Tandem tow dolly which has tail lights and signals. So does my car have to have its lights working also or do I need the magnetic ones. -

Herman is right how old is your son and how big is your unit? We have a Class A and we travel with a St Bernard Lab mix and another mixed breed . The one is 100+ lbs and the other is 54 lbs. why not just take the puppy that you have?

The rails were changed, one motor and a gear. They also had to reroute the wiring.

Update on Schwintek system. Had work done at their Goshen, Indiana plant. Made it all the way home and opened up the slide only to have one wire come loose. I called Lippert and they came out 21/2 hrs and spent 2 hrs fixing the unit.

FMCA's chart says that you should be no more than 65 ft for most states. In traveling I have seen RV's up to 80 ft . One 45 ft RV with a 35 or 40 ft trailer. In Illinois I have asked the State Police about being 65ft and have been told your an RV not a truck so no limit. I myself am in a 42 ft class A I used to have a 24 ft trailer with a 4 ft neck. I looked long I change to a tandom towdolly. I don't look as long. I did go from 72 ft to 73 ft long. We have traveled in the southern states mostly and I do carry a Class A CDL.

I have Good Sam right now. Had an issue and was told by Good Sam that they would pay for the repair person to show up, but it would be $85 an hour from the time they got here till they got back home. This also did not cover parts. One of the reasons for having Good Sam is that my Winnebago does not have a spare nor a place to store one. I know that Good Sam used to bring one out. Really need to find something better.

Stay away from any Winnebago product

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Problems -- Any Ideas?

No news just the same. Several posts back I gave an update as to what Cummins said. Which was nothing. But I have learned my lesson as I am now buying my DEF from Wal-Mart. I to like the name have had 2 of them now. Since my wife gave her Road King to her son I now have a Tri- Glide -

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Problems -- Any Ideas?
ultraglide replied to ultraglide's topic in Type A motorhomes
Rich, I now carry DEF that I buy from Wal-mart. It comes in a plastic container. I can see if it's bad. As far as pilot /flying J no help at all. Rochy Mountain Cummins in El Paso was fantastic they did the job by the book. Orlando Cummins would not help at all even though they admitted that they only got most of the contamination out. My suggestion it to buy from Wal- Mart and not from the pump of any truck stop. I learned my lesson. -

ultraglide replied to luckydog1949's topic in Type A motorhomes
We have a 2014 Winnebago Journey 42! ft we tow a tandom tow dolly with a 1200 lb Harley trike and a 06 Honda CR-V which is about 3300 lbs. we just got home from a 8919 mile trip average mileage is 7.5 mpg. Total weight of unit and tow is about 54,646 lbs. -
We have a 2014 Winnebago Journey now with a slideout failure. Does anyone have any experience with a Schwintek I wall slideout system?
-
I do understand about the poooor craftsmanship . As we are having some small problems with many things and now one that may turn out to be a big one. We now have a slide that has those 4 tracks and one has jumped track. The only thing that the Owners Manual says to do is to assist it in or out manually.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Problems -- Any Ideas?

Update, with no surprise Pilot fuel has refused to own up to bad DEF. Orlando Cummins also said that they did a proper job even though their paper works says that they got MOST of the bad DEF out. Rocky Mountain Cummins is still being great and working with us.
