If you need diesel service in Yuma, Arizona, I recommend Bob's Diesel Service,928-941-6462. Excellent service and honest. Call for directions as they don't show up in the GPS. He also will come to your location. He's located south of I-8 off of Araby.

We travel from Oregon to California all the time and prefer to take #20 past Clear Lake to Winters on I-5, then south.

You need a controller. I use a Blue Sky which works great. You also must use larger wire to carry the amps safely.

I have the Rand McNally and have learned never to use the route that it gives me. Like everyone says, it takes you on dead end streets, etc. Someone should mention to them that it's junk and shouldn't be sold until they fix their software.

West of Banff be sure to stop where the railroad makes two loops inside the mountain. There is a wide turnout and monument explaining the tunneling.

Be sure to stop at Custer's battlefield, and when you're at Twin Falls there are several places to go down to the Snake river and see falls close up. From Crater Lake head west to the Oregon coast and south down the Redwood highway #101.

We live in Groveland and we drive our diesel pusher towing an Explorer up and down #120 priest grade all the time....no problem. Make sure you stay on #120 (new priest grade) as some gps's send people up the old priest grade which is not suitable for any vehicle larger than a pickup. When coming up #99 we turn on to J59 at Merced which cuts off many miles and connects to #120/#108 just below Yosemite Junction where #120 turns to the right towards Groveland. Groveland has a park where you can park the motorhome and enjoy visiting the town which includes the Iron Door Saloon.....California's oldest continually operating saloon. Be sure to see the murial on the front of the building. You will really enjoy that trip. At Astoria you can stay at Ft. Stevens which is great to see and also the Lewis & Clark camp at Ft. Clatsop. Heading south enjoy Seaside and the cheese factory at Tillamook. Then on to Depoe Bay for whale watching, Newport for great seafood, Florence is great and Winchester Bay is a nice RV park. At Coos Bay turn west to stay at the Midway RV park, then enjoy the ride past Charleston to see the seals and beautiful gardens at the end of the road. South of Eureka turn west and visit Ferndale. Enjoy the redwood highway, but when you get to Legget do NOT turn towards highway #1 but go on south to Willets and turn west to highway #1. It's a much better road. When you get to Jenner turn east along the Russian River and enjoy the wine country. South of San Francisco stay on #101 until you get to San Luis Obispo, then turn west to Morro Bay and see the Hearst Castle at San Simeon. South of Ventura you'll want to see the President Reagan Library/Museum with the Airforce 1 displayed. Have a great trip.

I also just had 6 new Michelin 255/60R-22.5 XRV tires installed at Tweedy Tire in Jamestown, CA, under the FMCA/Michelin program. The service was excellent. The only difficulty was not knowing when the charge would go through the debit card so I could remove the maximum allowable charge. The bank was very cooperative and arranged to lift the maximum when the tire company put the bill through the computer and as soon as the charge was completed put the protection back on the card.

I've driven my diesel pusher with dingy on both #16 and #20, and prefer #20. It's a good road all the way. I will be going up #5 to Williams, #20 to #101 and on to Oregon next week so may see you along the way. We enjoy stopping at the little towns along the way and at Eureka we turn left to Samoa for a great meal at the Cookhouse. Even spent the night in their parking lot so we could have breakfast there the next morning.

On our Itasca it's the engine heater to warm the engine prior to starting on a cold morning.

I would suggest you stay on #25 through Albuquerque, see Old Town, stop at Santa Fe, see the Plaza and the circular staircase at the oldest Church, stop at Bandalier and enjoy the 2 museums at Los Alamos, and then drive the main road to Taos.

I tow a 2000 Ford Explorer 4wd behind my 36' DP and it works great. You need to be careful of the year as only some have the neutral free wheeling available. I use http://m-gengineering.com/ brakes on the toad and they work great.

There are mountains south of Ashland to Weed, but nothing to worry about. The climb out of Ashland heading south is the only "climb" but you'll just go slower. I drive a 36' diesel pusher pulling a Ford Explorer and have never had a problem pulling a hill. On your trip north the drive on #20 from I-5 to #101 would be your best way past Clear Lake as there really isn't any tourist attractions south of Ukiah......just traffic.

We enjoyed the Will Rogers Museum at Claremore, and then stayed at the Will Rogers ranch north of Claremore.

I meant to say that if you should stay on I-5 to Oregon, then go west from Sutherland to Coos Bay. If you go up #101, you'll go right into Coos Bay. We've never found a bad RV or State Park in Oregon, If you fish, Winchester Bay just north of Coos Bay is nice.

Highway 20 Willits to Ft. Bragg is OK, but don't take the Highway #1 from Leggett. In Oregon the coast highway is great all the way with beautiful scenery and great RV parks and State parks. Stop at several of the little towns and enjoy things.

North of LA be sure to spend a day at the Ronald Reagan library. Don't go north of San Simion on # 1. From the Wine Country go up #101 through the redwoods. When in Albuquerque be sure to go to Bandalier and both museums in Los Alamos....also the center of Santa Fe where you can see the famous staircase at the old church. There are so many things to see in the country that are off the main freeways so turn off and stop at the little towns.
