  1. On a new motorhome sticker price $439,000 what would you expect to be the discount off sticker? What if the unit was new but last years model, same question?
  2. WILDEBILL308, What places that you know about install a safety door?
  3. Wayne77590, We also has an after market heat activated fire extinguisher by our fridge in the outside compartment. By the time it went off the fire was too big. Didn't do the job.
  4. Sorry Carl, still not a LOL situation to us. We came within minutes of dying in our fire. Too many manufacturers give this little thought. Most of us in these rigs are older and need a better rear exit than they are providing. If we don't demand safety with our pocketbooks it is unlikely we will get it. The fire investigators that investigated our fire said they had investigated over 3000 of these fridge fires and most involve serious injury or death. We were very very lucky. I guess God is not done with us yet!
  5. Well after 7 1/2 months after our fire, we are looking at used Class A diesel's. Must have list. King Bed, 2 recliners that face the TV, Bath and 1/2, Dinette on patio side of coach, Aqua hot or similar system, residential fridge (Norcold only get one chance to kill us), rear exit door or very large window that is easy to use (we know how important this is). Suggestions of models to look at??? Right now our favorite is a Dutch Star 4002.
  6. Running it on LP will not stop a fire. Fires can start when the tubing breaks and the ammonia spills out near a hot element or open flame. The vibration of the unit starting each time it runs can cause the failure over time. One of the fire investigators told me he has inspected over 3000 of these fires and it is not if they will fail but when.
  7. Yes we got that info. That lawsuit does not cover our loss, however our insurance covered our loss. Now our insurance company is involved in a lawsuit against Norcold to recover their loss. We are not quite ready to replace our motorhome. Not ready to get in one and go to sleep.
  8. On January 5, 2017 at 1AM we were awakened by our smoke detector. Our Class A motorhome with a Norcold 1200 Fridge was on fire. We got out with our lives thanks to our smoke detector. Make sure yours is working. $20 smoke detector is very cheap insurance. Ours saved our lives!!! Within 10 minutes of our getting out the whole motorhome was in flames.
  9. Ours will not work with the key on. So Gen or shore power are the only choices.
  10. Our bedroom slide is cable driven.
  11. Finally had time to take apart the bed frame to inspect this problem. Both of the rollers and the foot of the bed were loose and this caused the bed frame to drag on the carpet. I simply tightened the screws on the brackets and the slide works better now. It is still slow but I can't say this isn't normal for this slide as it had always done this since we have owned the unit. For now I am satisfied with the repair. I think I will try to find something to put on the carpet for the rollers to run on so they will roll with less resistance. We did install an upgrade carpet and pad a few years ago that seems to make this slide work harder to travel over the carpet.
  12. Doesn't say in my owners manual. Not sure how to find out.
  13. I would like to access the area under my kitchen slide to check for a broken tile and maybe a bad roller. I can't find a place to take the cabinet apart to see under it. I have heard that you can put a couple 2 x 6 blocks on top of the slide and close it causing it to lift the inside off the floor so you can check under it. Has anyone tried this? I don't what to do something stupid and damage the slide. This slide is gear driven for opening and closing.
  14. Yes I verified that the air pocket was intact. No difference. I installed a new pressure relief valve today and everything is working fine now. No leaks. The old valve almost fell apart in my hands. It was shot. Great hot water and no more geyser.
  15. Got the new thermostat via Amazon. After installing them, almost no change. Still leaks out the pressure relief valve. Difference is the water coming out is 125 degrees not 145. Next step is a new pressure relief valve. More updates to follow.
  16. Call Thor. We had the same problem with our 2007 Tuscany. They offered a 1/2 off price on the front Captain's chairs. Buy 1 cover and get the second free. We had to pay for the labor to put them on. Cover cost was around $500 for the one chair. At that time they would not cover our Euro recliners that had the same problem. We replaced the chairs instead of recovering them. PS We were second owners of the coach.
  17. OK call me cheap. I looked on Amazon and the thermostat I need is $11.06 with free shipping. We are not in a location where we are staying put long enough to have it shipped. Overnight pushes the cost way up. Our water heater works fine if we shut it off when done with hot water. Yesterday I went into a Camping World to get the part. On Amazon it is the complete kit, gasket and all. Camping World the gasket is separate. I didn't even ask how much the gasket was as they wanted $44 for the thermostat. I said no thanks and walked out. I would have paid double for the convenience but come on, 4 times the price. I don't think so! I wait until we a in one location long enough to have it shipped.
  18. Carl, I am very satisfied with the repair. I think it is more secure than original design. Most of the floor was still in good shape. Only a small rusted out area on the side that is supported very well now.
  19. Two days until we get to a location where I can buy a thermostat. One other issue. When I start the water heater the light that is suppose to show when the water heater is calling for heat does not light. The heater does heat and will not stop heating. Is that light not coming on a problem or just an LED that is burned out on the board?
  20. I had a mobile RV repair weld brace bars (1 inch square tubing) under the tanks (black, grey, and fresh water). 6 bars welded to the frame. Tanks are now securely in place. Not the 100% repair of replacing the flooring and all, but it should last for years and we are traveling and didn't have time to tear everything apart.
  21. That's the plan Brett. I'll update after new thermostat is installed.
  22. Thanks for the meat thermometer idea. Water is way to hot. 145 plus. I guess I need a new thermostat. When it cools down I will check to see if this one is still attached. Also I noticed the connections are corroded. I'll hit those with electrical cleaner when things dry and cool. 100 miles to nearest RV dealer to get a new thermostat. We will limp through until then. More to follow when I get it fixed.
  23. Brett, I understand two of the three. What do you mean by air pocket?
  24. Our pressure relief valve on the water heater is popping and releasing water both on the electric side and the gas side when up to temp. Seems like our water is very hot, however I do not have a thermometer that will test that high of temp. High limit problem or pressure valve problem?? Anyone else had a similar problem?
  25. Thanks for the suggestions. Can't get to it for a week or 2. Will try all suggestions until I find one that work for me.
