  1. I have acquired a habit of checking the breaker before plugging in, and I always turn it off before unplugging. Good article Roger, thanks.
  2. Welcome Tony & Pam. I like your flags. Your rig looks like it might be the same color as our Winni. Guess you'll be coming to Texas to visit GC's so if you do, stop by Galveston area and we can do a visit. Good size back yard and the pups would enjoy Lexi.
  3. Wow! Sorry to hear that. Nope! Never leave keys in the ignition. I don't even leave them in the ignition if I'm alone filling up with fuel, or I lock the door with the FOB.
  4. So true Ray, so true! Stood up in the back yard after bending over and took a deep breath. Son said, "Dad, you're out of shape!" I reminded him that ROUND IS A SHAPE!
  5. Sorry to hear that about Progressive. They have been good for me. The 2008 needed a new roof from hail damage and $19.000 later Progressive paid. In 2017 Hurricane Harvey totaled it. Since I bought the MH new and had Progressive, 10 years later they paid me what I paid for it. No deprecation. Page 26 of my Progressive policy. The present one had mice eat through a water line. Progressive paid. I did have to state that I checked the MH every two week, which I do and sometimes more frequently. The "two weeks" is one of their clauses.
  6. It's cold here also at 58˚ but tomorrow it will be 68˚. Waiting on summer when it stops freezing here. To me, anything below 70˚ is freezing.
  7. It is to bad that Flag Etiquette is not Flag Law. Presently it is not enforceable. However, with that said, my two pet peeve's are placement and ragged flags being displayed. Placement being that the American Flag is always on its own right. that means if there is a wall, podium, etc behind it when looking at it it is on the left. On a car, looking from the front, it is on the right fender. That is its own right. Ragged doesn't need a description but in my MC days some of the MC members I rode with (MC being the two letters on the back of a vest or jacket) would stop when a ragged flag was flying and take it down for proper disposal. Don't start with that stuff of a good way to get hurt. This was an MC - and don't mess with MC's. My riding days and colors were retired in 2007.
  8. Dennis, Jeep has been having a problem for some time now regarding the "Death Wobble," Maybe this article can give you some information to use: Jeep Death Wobble It wasn't/isn't just towing. It can happen driving the Jeep. Subject has been covered on the other forums also.
  9. You don't need the foil if you also have a wire surrounding the white phonelic insulator that caries the center copper conductor. The purpose of the aluminum shield is to reduce radio frequency interference, RFI. (electromagnetic interference) Strip it back and cut it off then use the wire shield and center conductor.
  10. Ray, it's okay to use them as a reference but I agree that the only true way is the Mfg's manual, and even then it's a crap shoot. I called a Mfg for a specific car when I was getting different answers. The vehicle was not towable and they said it was a cut and past from an earlier manual and they were putting out a revised edition. Best way besides manuals is to see if anyone else is towing the vehicle and if they have problems. Then the manual again.
  11. I do the same but if there is a specific auto you are interested by looking at the 2022 list you can then jump to the manual and see if it is still applicable. Happy hunting.
  12. It's nice to have the guide but if anyone is interested in a specific brand an online search of the vehicle manual will give all the details for towing or not towing. Yes, I know it is simpler to look at a guide, but when push comes to shove the manual is the place to go.
  13. So very sad! Rest in Peace Herman.
  14. Do you have the Magnum Remote controller in your EMS panel? It may need to be reset or battery type needs to be changed. If you scroll through the menu you will see the different areas of programming. One will say type of battery. You should basically have the NAPA style batter (Deka, etc.) and that will be AGM2 on the display. You never gave the year of the MH
  15. Where would you put the camera? If, and I say IF, I were a burglar I would "case" the property during the day time and see if there were a camera, door bell or otherwise on the premises. Where is it pointing. Approach from the dead spot and spray paint the camera. Do my 2 minutes of havoc and leave. That's if it were a smart burglar. There are 3 types of smart ones, some with a little smarts, and dumb ones. The smart ones have a lot of money and seldom get caught The somewhat smart ones get caught more often. The dumb ones, well, they are all in prison or going to prison someday. There is no security that is 100% fail-safe. Even sitting in a chair with a shotgun at the ready is not 100% that you will not get hurt, or worse. With all that said, Ring is a good system. I have a system for the S&B with a lot of different monitors including 4 cameras. IF i were to get a system for he Class A it would be Ring. If you do decide to get a system PM me for a simple network solution. You will want it to have access to The Ring Cloud. If you do get the cloud it will be $100 a year for their monitoring service.
  16. Braunig Lake RV Park is 12.5 miles from the Alamo. We stayed there several times in the early 2000's, once on the left side of the lake as you look at the map, and other times on the right side. By far the right side is better (K, L) being the better when we were there. Just an option if the other's closer to down town fail. There are about 30 rv parks in and around San Antonio and it is about 30 miles as the crow flies from Loop 1604W to loop 1604E It's also about 30 miles from New Braunfels to SA. Let me suggest two ways of seeing what RV parks are in or around an area. First would be Campgroundreviews.com. Second, bring up a Google map of San Antonio. In the right hand side where the 3 bars are and a search icon, Google Maps says "San Antonio, TX", delete that and put in the words RV Parks and hit enter. It will populate the map with the rv parks it knows for that area. Reviews can be found for both ways of finding campgrounds. Take the reviews as a grain of salt. We each have our own opinions of what is nice and what is not nice. Do some research on the park that you think will do for you before you make your decision. San Antonio is a fun place and we go there a few times a year but stay at military CG's. Be sure to take the Mission Trail self tour. p.s., you can slide the map around to different areas and click on "Search this area."
  17. Most lodges require membership, not particularly in that lodge but some lodge. Then you get to stay there as a guest. Sign up for campgrounds.rvlife.com/. Brookings has several campgrounds. Or, bring up Brookings, OR on google maps and in the left pain search bar type in ... RV Parks and hit enter. It will populate the page. Gold Beach is about 25 miles further up The 101. Take the air boat ride, it's worth it, but I think I'd do it in Summer time.
  18. Alarms do have a tendency to scare away some thieves, but with a sawzall and 2 minutes or less to remove a cat converter, respond time would be dependent if a patrol car were nearby. Those are the chances thieves take knowing the outcome if they are caught. Short time in prison, parole, do it all over again. Curious, were the MH's gas or diesel? There are some motorcycle alarms that work off of vibration if it could be anchored to the converter. Sure would get there attention.
  19. Texans are always polite, well most of us are. However, attitude begets attitude!!!
  20. Oh my, yes! Buffalo last week or so had 80 inches of snow. I can't walk in stuff like that I'd never see where I'm going.
  21. I like our area. Texas City, TX Yearly Weather. Texas City is at latitude is 29.3838N, and that latitude runs close through Gainesville, FL. Yep, gets cold and sometimes below the 32˚ mark but only for a few hours. There have been exceptions but overall we are a good clime.
  22. Thanks Don. Good to know he is on the mend.
  23. Well, consider the MH being in the shop was fortunate otherwise you could have been in Ft Myers!🤡
