  1. The Ford Museum is a very interesting place, could fill up at least 2 days. Let me know if you do and we will see if we can meetup.
  2. Sorry Joe but it is named for the creek that runs thru property. No real campstore but the campground has a 200+ acre pasture right next to it which has cattle, horses and a mule that come right up to the fence for a scratch. My little Jack Russel loves to watch them, she sits in the front window guarding the MH.
  3. Thank you Carl! Bill we are going to go 30 to 40 thru Memphis and Nashville, 65 north to Louisville then 71 to Cincinnati. Then 75 to Brookville Ohio to see my wife’s 95 year old mother and then 75 to 23 to home in Fenton Michigan. We plan to be home between the 4-6 of April. This has been our best extended trip, not going the extra 1000 miles to Arizona really made a difference. I whole heartedly can recommend Stella Mare in Galveston, Majestic Oaks and Southern Oaks near Aransas Pass and Rockport, Texas Trails in Pharr and Alsatian RV resort in Castroville.
  4. We started our journey home to Michigan today. Passed thru the megapolis of Marble Falls, Burnet and Stephenville on our way to Coffee Creek RV park for the night. Tomorrow it is Shady Pines near Texarkana. We had a wonderful winter this year, it is with sad hearts we leave Texas. Depending on how things go with my wife’s health I hope we get the chance to return next year.
  5. Do most of you use the fresh water tank to supply the coach or do you use city water. We never drink from city water or fresh water tank but use bottled water from store.
  6. Bill, we will be on 40 thru Little Rock, normally we go to Memphis but we may stop at Riverside. Thanks for the info.
  7. Yes, Naty Flats is good eats! Our Jack Russel is fascinated by the cows and horses in the pasture by the rv sites.
  8. We have used 281 before and that is probably the way we will go. There is a nice park at 20, Coffee Creek.
  9. Carl we will be leaving Alsatian RV on Tuesday headed home. We usually go around Dallas and take 30 east. Is the toll by axel or length?
  10. Thanks Bill, we only go 60-65 but it does go around Austin. I am getting so that I really don’t like big city driving with all of the ongoing construction.
  11. Does anyone know the toll cost for Texas 130? It looks like this would save time getting around Austin.
  12. Coming from Corpus there was a good amount of flowers in the median and side of freeway. The seed farm is a couple of weeks away from full bloom. We are finally getting some much needed rain tonight.
  13. Had a great meal at Bill’s BBQ in Kerrville today and went to the Wild Seed Farm in Fredericksburg. My wife loved it! Thanks Bill and Carl. We have almost decided to stay here at Alsatian RV instead of going to Port Aransas.
  14. Thanks Carl, I had seen Bill’s so it is good to have conformation of its rating. We are enjoying Alsatian Resort, going to play golf today.
  15. We had a wonderful meal at the Alpine Haus in New Braunfels today, what a charming place and town. Can anyone suggest a bbq place, prefer not in San Antonio but rather Hill Country like Kerrville, Bandera or Bourne.
  16. Wayne, is there any day of the week that is better or not good to visit SA? That parking lot will be a great help for my wife, we will take the river boat so she doesn’t have to walk to much. Does the boat bring you back to where you get on?
  17. Played golf today at Resort course, a not to difficult shorter test. Greens were good, day was beautiful 86 and sun with a mild 8-10 mph wind. We will be visiting Hill Country over the next two weeks, thanks for the input. Definitely recommend the Alsatian RV resort, clean and well kept concrete sites and roads, only negative is poor ATT reception. If you golf the course is attached and you play right next to the RV park on a couple of holes, it is a fun relaxing course.
  18. Thanks Bill, my wife will love that!
  19. Yes, on southern edge but has a good golf course! We will make day trips to Hill Country towns and resturants 😁
  20. We are leaving Corpus Christi tomorrow and heading to Castroville and Hill Country. Staying at the Alsatian RV Resort, it has a good golf course. We have fog again today at Aransas Pass, Sea Fog. Seems almost every day it is present and lasts until noon. Keeps humidity up. I have been told by those who have been coming here for years that this year and last year are aberrations from normal as far as weather. Hopefully Hill Country will be drier and sunny.
  21. Should be very interesting, more hp and torque than v10. Might be a good upgrade for me if we continue with RV. This year with going a shorter distance has been easier on my wife.
  22. Bill, Mustang Island State Park was a little rough when we looked in January of this year. I am sure it will improve over time. Lots of building going on in area, new restaurants and stores.
  23. IAN, I visited Pioneer RV Park today. It is a very nice park with cement roads and site pads. The units are somewhat tight but doable. From the back of the park there is a walkway path thru the dunes to the beach and Gulf. The staff seemed friendly and the park was clean.they are going to build a new rec hall, laundry and restrooms soon to supplement existing facilities. There were several sites available now.
  24. We are back at Aransas Pass for 2 weeks. Cloudy and light drizzle. Fog tomorrow but comfortable temperature.
  25. If you are wanting to stay near Gulf you need to make reservations now, Majestic Oaks is already full for 2020, they say that they might have a few cancellations but not to count on it.
