We did the same thing. I have pictures of the new "Cat Restroom" if you'd like to see them. We even hooked up a fan to vent out through the old dryer vent.....

Took a bit longer than I thought, the lower bracket was filled with water which was slowly getting into the coach via the screw holes. I took care of that, and with the use of a copious amount of RTV silicone, made sure it would not be a problem in the future. The handle now has a gasket to keep any water from getting into the brackets. 1/2 hour, total time involved.

As with many RVs, our class A has an illuminated clear acrylic (Plexiglass) grab handle next to the entry door. Over the years, UV and improper cleaning has caused it to form micro-fractures which over the past few years have increased in number and size. I've not bothered with replacing it, until the lights burned out last week. I work with acrylics, and can easily create a multi colored replacement, and take great joy in doing so. I can also replace it with another clear one, or as my wife wants, a clear red one (We have some in stock right now) I'll admit, I like the idea of a red one also. My question is this: Would it be legal? Since the lights would not be on unless we were stopped, I'd think we'd be OK, however there are some strange laws when it comes to motor vehicles. Any thoughts?

All of our cats are free to roam in the coach, all the time. Only one, Pogo (Pogo Mau on FaceBook) goes outside. He has 4 different Kitty Holster cat harnesses that I take him for walks in, sometimes as many as 8 times a day. he usually rides either atop the living room slide out or if his sister isn't there, on the dash. We removed the washer/dryer combo unit and added a pair of shelves to the enclosure, lined the space (25" x 25" X 25") with 1/4 inch Delrin (Polyoxymethylene) plastic, I used flexible dryer vent hose and a 36-CFM computer fan to create a negative air pressure, enclosed cat box area, that vents to the outside via the former dryer vent. Entry is through a the never used cabinet door, and a cat door cut and framed on a side wall of the enclosure. This allows them to use the box without worry even when we're moving. Pictures available on request...You cannot tell we have cats...Well OK, three of them on the dash at any given time whether parked or on the road might give it away, but the smell of a cat box never will...

We have a Vizio™ 43 inch LED TV, and there has never been a problem with it. Until you mentioned it I never gave a thought to the fact that we had a modified sine wave inverter for the first three years of ownership..... Here's a link to how we reconfigured things for our TV. There's also other projects we've done in the coach there.... http://s551.photobucket.com/user/DaBearpnw/library/Coach%20Mods?sort=6&page=1

Finally, any ideas on what to do with a 20" square hole in the front of the coach? I thought I'd just make it flush with the other cabinets overhead and put a black Lexan door on it as well, but I'm sure there's someone clever here that has a better idea. We're bouncing around the idea of turning that space into either a book case, or a cat bed. The other option which opens up a can of Dunes own Sandworms ( Sorry Sci-Fi reference) is to remove it outright.. Not something even an old cabinet maker would want to try and patch in.....

We're in on the road for 6 months out of the year. Our park, here in Oregon holds our space, maintains it, provides security for the Tough Shed that comes with our space (we use it for storage and a small shop), and picks up our mail. They will forward anything that is official, to whatever address we specify. Our youngest will come by once a week to pick up everything else. We pay less than $100.00 a month for the services, and we maintain our Oregon residency. Well worth the money in my opinion.....

So. We just tested the slide for the first time since doing the floors. Everything went perfectly. I guess we did it right! On to the next project..... -
Had to go at it sideways, but I finally got it to take my profile picture.....

We will also be going through Eastern Washington in August for WorldCon, then on through Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and eventually end up in Morro Bay Ca. for the winter.

Ok, I have tried every option except for "Gravatar" (Not interested) and I still cannot upload a picture to my profile. Any advice?

We also have seven cats (and a mini Dachshund) in our 39 foot Dutch Star. We removed the Splendide' washer/dryer combo, built an enclosed cat box room and vented it out through the dryer vent with a 36 cubic feet per minute computer fan. We clean it three times a day. All of the cats have adjusted to living in the coach, Pogo (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pogo-Mau/758400314204858?ref=hl) insists on going out though, so we bought a Kitty Holster, to take him on walks. He took to it so well that now he has four of them! His sister Stella uses one of his when she gets the urge to go munch some fresh grass.

Diesel Motorhome MPG-- Honest Answers Please
BearAndMoon replied to luckydog1949's topic in Type A motorhomes
We're in a 2003 Newmar Dutch Star 3802 with a 330 HP Cat. We get a consistent 10 MPG. Everyone that hears that, cringes. My reply is always the same. "Yep terrible mileage for a vehicle, but tell me, what kind of mileage does your house get?" -
Replacing Motorhome Flooring

We left the carpet in the slide out in the living room, it's next years project. We're going to have a custom carpet piece done and have it edge bound. The bedroom slide carries the bed and a closet, so that room was by far the easiest to do. The living room slide sits almost level with the room. It looks like the new floor sits about an eighth to three eighths lower than the carpet and Pergo™ that we removed. Whether this will be a problem for the slides when they are retracted has yet to be tested, I have plenty of things to make slide glides with. The two problems we had with the installation were: 1. Getting seams to line up when you have to "Back lay" the tiles. We ran a centre line down the length of the coach, we wanted a full tile width on the long axis. Then we figured out what size to cut the first row, and started work. At the kitchen cabinets, the bathroom, and the bedroom, we had to measure back, cut the tiles and slip the tongue side of the tile under the lip of the tiles in front of them. Getting the seams perfect is crucial. I hope that makes sense... 2. There are a whole lot more angles in this place than I realized... We had some mouldings left over from our last floor install in the stick house before we sold it. It felt right to use it in our new home, so we did. Our toilet was a bit long in the tooth, so we replaced it when we did the bathroom floor. Having it out made doing the floor in that tight space a bit easier. Half way through the project, our Norcold fridge died. We bought a 10 cu. ft. residential and will install it this month. right now it's in the shed that comes with our space. running on a spare 30 amp extension cord. Overkill I'm sure, but it was handy. Our "Entertainment center" is a left over sample cabinet from my days as a cabinet maker, the TV stand was my wife's idea, and my engineering. I have to say that I have worn many hats in my years of employment. I think this new home, and the life it brings, makes me appreciate that more every day. -

Here's a link to the mods we have done to our 2003 Newmar Dutch Star. We just finished the floors. http://s551.photobucket.com/user/DaBearpnw/library/Coach%20Mods?sort=6&page=1 We used Allure "Ashlar" vinyl plank, This is the 5th floor my wife and I have done together, the first in an RV. The Allure went down fast, and easy. I'd use it again if ever I needed to.... -
Snap shots along the way, an a few others...
