  1. That unit has a 1-7/8" ball. I could probably change it to 2", eh? David
  2. I just purchased a used "Stehl" (like new) with surge brakes, let's see how it goes. Thanks to all that replied. David
  3. I am looking for opinions on what brakes work best on a tow dolly. I see the options as: no brakes, electric brakes and surge brakes. No brakes in not one of my options. I like the surge brakes because I wouldn't have to hook up a controller and I have it on my boat trailer. Seems that the cost is a little higher for that option and is a little harder to come by locally. Thoughts? Thanks, David
  4. Poormarky, I see you asked the same question on the Chevy Avalanche Club of NA website but got no reply yet. I have a 2002 NFE and a member there as well, but my RV doesn't have the capacity to tow the Av. Let us know if Herman's procedure works or if it leaves your transfer case all over the road....j/k Herman.
  5. I've seen kayak holders that go into the receiver so 2 kayaks stands straight up. https://www.rvkayakracks.com/ I'm not a Kayak person but would like to use something similar for a small skiff or dingy, 8' or less, to stand straight up. I can't find any type of attachment and I don't want to trailer it. If we had a toad I would just put it on the roof of that, but we don't. I like to fish and dig quahogs. I can always build one but I would prefer to buy one done. Thanks....David
  6. This was from an ad I saw in the FMCA mag.
  7. http://www.rollerboat.com/ Of course the first thing that comes to my mind is sinking.
  8. What Bill says! Maybe safety glasses too. It will burn.
  9. Just received this recall notice for our 2016 FR3. 2013-2016 Columbus 5th wheel, 2015-2017 Spartan Toyhauler, 2015-2016 XLR Toyhauler and 2015-2017 FR3 Motorhomes. Your vehicle has been manufactured with a Christianson Industries Fold-Up Ladder, the ladder mounted to the wall of your vehicle has a mounting plate welded to a hinge that may separate due to an incorrect weld. I'm trying to figure out what ladder it is as I don't have a folding type. Just the one outside on the back for the roof access and the removable one for the drop down bunk. David
  10. Just trying to prepare for retirement a little early. We want would like to have a couple or one of these types of property so we can come and go as we please. Stay a day, stay a year, that kind of thing. Preferably on the east coast and preferably our own property. I just saw a lot of those resort type "sites" for sale and wanted some pros and cons if we were to go that route. I was born confused so it makes sense to me...lol
  11. We were looking for some nice pieces of land that would allow an RV and I saw those types. It wouldn't be my first choice. I have only found 1 lakefront lot in Nosebleed, Maine that had the slab, septic, well and elec. And the town allowed the RV. Good price and acreage but too far north. We will keep on searching.
  12. Well I can't find the answer. It must be so many posts. How many?
  13. We recently stayed at the KOA there, nice site on the ocean, a little expensive. The free shuttles are great for getting around. They stop at I think all the campgrounds so you get sorta a tour of where they all are if your at the 1st pick up point which is the KOA Oceanside.
  14. If you go back up to Maine I'm sure you will like "Searsport Shores", nice and peaceful on the ocean. No moose though.
  15. So I see a lot of RV sites for sale, kind of like having a condo. We are thinking about purchasing a few up and down the east coast. Would like to know the good, bad and ugly from RVers if they have any? Thanks
  16. Good thing I still have my square drill bit set. Needle file time. David
  17. Our new FR3 has no holes for mounting the required front license plate. Looks like I have to drill holes and install those nylon nut thingies. Sound OK? Something about drilling holes in something new..... Of course being an old school toolmaker it will be square and level. Thanks, David
