  1. I have foot long rubber antennas on my Harley dresser. The AM-FM radio antenna is different from the CB. From what you describe, sounds like AM-FM.
  2. I have been told that you do not mount the CB antenna near the am/fm radio antenna so to reduce interference.
  3. The Canada Go RVing website may have your answer and more.
  4. Sounds like you need a portable "Campsite Reserved" sign. With the price of chairs today I behooves one to put their name on the chair in permanent marker or with an engraver. Make believe your a movie star. Chairs may look the same but they have different heights for the seat and back, and the weight capacity which is important if a guest should decide to drop by for a drink. I passed up on some chairs and a recliner at Quartzsite that I regret - so I am still looking for the one that fits me just right.
  5. IMHO, if your grandchildren are to ride and sleep in your RV, you can not permit your dogs to enter the RV. The dogs' hair and dander will get trapped in the fibers and in unreachable areas of the RV, which may trigger allergy attacks in the children. Also, if your dogs travel with you and are outside playing, you would have to keep your grandchildren indoors, not to mention you would have to bathe and change clothes every time you came in contact/played with your dogs so as not to contaminate the RV or children with dog hair and dander. So, maybe the children's allergies can be controlled with medication or their immunities will kick in.
  6. Two methods come to mind. Store the rack on the roof or use an extended male tongue bar with a Fold-Away Trailer Hinge Kit found on the tongues of boat trailers.
  7. Military Campgrounds are a great option and opportunity for those of us who have military ID Cards. Eligibility and authorized users includes Active duty, Retirees, Reserve, Dependents, 100% DAV, Unremarried surviving spouses of personnel who died while on active duty or while on retired status. Some military campgrounds do allow "sponsored guests." When allowed, your guest is allowed to stay in the campground with their own RV. Rules vary for allowing guests, and guests usually pay more than the military rate. It's best to check directly with the military campground(s) you're interested in to find out any special rules for guests. A bonus of being on a military base is the savings in purchasing fuel and access to MWR discount coupons & packages for local area and sites, etc., PX, BX, commissaries, clubs, pools, theaters, and eating establishments.
  8. In Calif we have mandatory emission contol SMOG inspections for all licensed gasoline driven vehicles, but not in all counties. Example, Plumas County is an exempt because of all the trees (forests) within the county. CA Politicians and environmentalists are continually trying to pass additional emission control laws for Diesel vehicles and lawn mowers, and prohibit wood burning fireplaces wood/charcoal barbecues, and smoking on the beaches.
  9. What was the cause of the crack ? Temperature, something heavy fall into the sink, fittings over tight, heavy water ? Remember to turn off the valves, the pump, don't rush, and it will look professional.
  10. Be sure it includes glass insurance and check out the deductible. A one piece windshield costs over $3K to replace.
  11. If the company, local dealer or mobile dealer won't answer your requests, what makes you think they will honor a warrantee if their is a problem.
  12. Your DW made you that breakfast on the 14th. I hope she has fed you again since then.
  13. Length restrictions in California State Parks varies. Most parks were originally developed for tent camping and not for bringing the conviences of the city to the outdoors.
  14. Put in a blender, add ice and vodka and you have a smoothy.
  15. Prior to buying my new RV I used the PC to get the phone number of over 40 insurance companies for Quotes. I maintained a note pad with the quotes of each and FMCA found me the best coverage for the dollar and beat them all including GS.
  16. I have observed 3 methods used to make raising and lowering the ramps of toy haulers easier. (1) a large horizontal coil spring near and the length of the hinge. (2) vertical garage door style springs on each side of the ramp. (3) Gas piston struts (like on cargo doors) inside the side walls of the ramp entry. (Damon Outlaw). Has anyone ever had or seen any problems of failure and damage. 30 years ago I recall hearing and seeing the results of the door springs on my garage at home fail and shoot up to the rafters with great force. Maybe that doesn't happen any more.
  17. Service animals are animals that are individually trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities such as guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling wheelchairs, alerting and protecting a person who is has seizures, PTSD, diabetes, or performing other special tasks. Service animals are working animals, not pets. People with service animals cannot be charged extra fees, isolated from other patrons, or treated less favorably than other patrons. Under the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA), businesses and organizations that serve the public must allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals into all areas of the facility where customers are normally allowed to go. This federal law applies to all businesses open to the public, including campgrounds, restaurants, hotels, taxis and shuttles, grocery, amusement parks, and department stores, hospitals and medical offices, theaters, health clubs, parks, and zoos. Service Animals do not have to wear vests. Many owners carry just a badge because of the heat.
  18. My dog Ultra is my co-pilot in my RV and on my Harley. When riding in the RV she sleeps most of the time curled behind my chair or on the floor on the riders side. In the Harley she rides with her head out in the wind or tucked in her foxhole if it is cold. In the RV she has a crate (bed) with toys she retires to when she is tired or wants privacy. If she ever need to go outside for a nature call she stands by the door and yodels or barks. When we are out walking, she has a lease on her and I carry a plastic bag. In case we should ever get separated, she wears an ID tag with my name, cell phone number, e-mail address, and my son's phone number just in case I am traveling in a dead zone. In addition I had her chipped for permanent identification in case she should be picked up by the man or taken to a vet for treatment.
  19. Like all vacuums, some Suck and others really SUCK.
  20. You may want to check out campgrounds at the William B. Umstead State Park located in Wake County, North Carolina, between Raleigh & Durham. If you a member the the VFW, American Legion or BPOE (Elks), you may want to check to see if any of the Posts or Lodges in Raleigh have RV facilities, many do.
  21. There are many RV Rental Companies. USA RV Rentals has Class B RVs and has a office in Los Angeles. In Burbank is Get RV.Com that also rents Class B.
  22. Let's not forget about the antenna. Its' type and location are important in reception, clarity and range.
  23. If you have solar panel that is hooked up to the batteries, it is best to have a controller to prevent over-charging and boiling your batteries. If the solar panel is connected to a exhaust fan to vent the back of a refrigerator, I would add a toggle switch to turn the fan off in the cooler months.
  24. Not all ramps are equal. They have different surfaces, heights, spring systems, weight capacities, ease or difficulty in closing, different locking systems. Not all lifts are equal: They have different sizes, different controls, different weight capacities, some are made of steel and others are aluminum alloy. What do you have, like or dislike about it.
