richard5933 Report post Posted January 23, 2021 If my understanding is correct, that TCS fuel card is not new, just the advertising for it is. I had one of those cards a year or so ago and ended up terminating my account. It is not the same as the TSD card. That's a totally different program run by a company out of Texas, I believe. There have been numerous threads about the TCS fuel card and comparisons with the TSD card: https://community.fmca.com/search/?q="tcs fuel card"&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy

Don No the FMCA version requires you to put money in an account ahead of time. Also you can't get any surplus money out without canceling it. I have one but never activated it. The EFS card by TSD Logistics works more like a debit card. Most of my usage has been at Loves, just because that's how things worked out. I am getting about $0.16 savings per gallon. I was excited back when I got my good Sam's card and saved $0.06. I got $0.20 a gallon savings at a TA on this last trip. https://www.tsdlogistics.com/services/fuel-program/ Looking forward to using it more soon. Let me know if you have any questions. manholt Report post Posted January 24, 2021 On our last trip to Tampa RV Super Show, FL. we used the TSD card at 3 T/A Stations, avg cost was $2.21 per gal with the card. Pump price avg was $2. 66. We got back to Three Rivers, Texas yesterday, last fill up was T/A Exit #4, Alabama, I-10. I will fill up at Love's here and get $.16 off pump price! We have a designated bill paying Bank account, all bills, that the card is attached to! You can't do that with the TCS card, the card is pre-loaded, like a Debit card, that you can only use at their designated fuel stations!
akadeadeye Report post Posted January 24, 2021 Thanks, I didn't know about the FMCA/TCS card until receiving an email from FMCA yesterday. The TSD Logistics seems more versatile, but you still have to go to the trouble of "funding" another bank account as opposed to keeping the TCS card funded. Oh well. wayne77590 Report post Posted January 24, 2021 With TSD you don't have to fund a different bank account but a safe practice would be to open up a second checking account and just populate it with $500 or so when you need to. My bank allows a second checking account free, and many banks will allow you to do that. Just a much safer practice to have a separate account.

Don There's really no reason to run the TSD card from a separate bank account. Some do it for added safety, but I don't find it any more risky than all the other bills that I have paid via automatic draws like my utility bills and insurance bills. If you do want to keep a second account for the TSD card, it's not at all difficult to add funds to that second account in seconds using the app from your bank. I can transfer money between accounts in the bank's app for free and it literally takes a few seconds. The TCS card, however, takes a concerted effort to fund - nothing about it is terribly convenient.

I agree and wish FMCA would modafie the deal so it was like the TSD card. I would use it. It does claim higher savings and it would add locations. urbanhermit Report post Posted January 28, 2021 Maybe it's a lack of planning -- I start thinking about refueling only when I drop to 3/8 of a tank -- but so far I haven't benefitted much from using my TSD card: I always pull into truck stops that accept the card but don't discount below their cash price and add a service charge. I'd be better off carrying a few hundred cash (so far, with The Executive Department still working, we only take long weekend trips of 300 to 450 miles one way). On a side note, the Oceans Eleven gang could probably score better knocking over a Loves than a Vegas casino . . . .

With a range as far as most of us have, it's usually possible to plan a fuel stop far ahead of it being needed. I aim to refuel after 600 miles, but could easily go over 1,000 without hitting empty. That gives me quite a wide latitude in choosing stopping points. The TSD website has a listing of the current discounts and a brief comment letting users know which have the largest discounts. With this information, it only takes a few minutes to find a fuel stop along the way. The discount from TSD is usually large enough to make the effort worthwhile. manholt Report post Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) If I don't need generator while on the road and diesel side of Oasis while parked....my range is 1,400 miles without worry, normally I roll around 900! We enjoy the TSD savings, even after the 10%, we save about 34 cents a gallon...Love's is 14.4 cents a gallon, after the 10% and that's still better than GS card. I have a 200 gal. tank! If all I want to do is top of tank with 30/50 gal. I'll use any brand and pay cash! Urbanhermit, what you wrote, has me confused. Was you referring to Good Sam, or another discount card? The EFS card that the TSD program uses will be accepted as payment in nearly all truck stops. But, just because they accept the card as payment doesn't mean that they participate in the discount program. You have to read the price guide periodically to see which stations/brands are in the discount program, otherwise you'll have to pay the fee and get no discount. manholt Report post Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) We got a notification from EFS/TSD, that your card would only be accepted at participating stations, effective 1/01/2021. Why the ref. to EO 11? Edited January 29, 2021 by manholt

Why the ref. to EO 11? Where did you see this notification? I have the app and am on their email list but didn't see anything. The only thing I've seen is a notice on their app about a $1 additional fee for using the card outside the discount network. What is EO 11?

Its an EFS card issued by TSD Logistics, Inc. Range: Monaco Cayman, 300 hp Cummins, 75 gallon tank, 7.5 to 8.5 mpg, using 60 gallons as a safe limit, 450 to 510 miles. I envy those of you who can go 1000 to 1600.

Right -- and I keep washing up at apparently semi-participating (cash price for credit), card-accepting stops. No free lunch, I guess: planning required for the true discount. manholt Report post Posted January 31, 2021 (edited) Love's, TA and Petro Truck Stops. TA is all over FL. also Love's! Same with AL., Miss., Georgia. Coming back from Tampa, 3 weeks ago, I filled up 113 gallons in AL and took 130 gallons yesterday, 70 miles South of San Antonio, TX. manholt Report post Posted January 31, 2021 Had I known that 130 Gallons at Love's would save me $20 yesterday, I would have waited and gone to Petro, exit#581 on I-10 in San Antonio, TX. 20 miles out of my way, but worth it.

richard5933 Report post Posted February 4, 2021 Always good to check the app or daily price report before selecting a fuel stop. There are always going to be outliers that either don't participate or that have a much lower discount. If I know I'm going to be fueling during the day, I try to identify a few options for fueling along the route while I'm doing my start-of-the-day trip planning. To me it's worth the 5 or 10 minutes time if it is going to potentially save me $30 or $40.

Bill TSD has announced that their biggest discounts are with TA/Petro right now, so this would seem to be correct. At one time the discount at Loves was the bigger one.
