Mary - I don't know what part of the country you're in, so if you go to either of the 2 Yahoo Safari MH websites and do a search in the messages for "Salvage", you will find a salvage yard in South Carolina that has a couple of wrecked Safari's.

I believe I have all of the various bits and pieces to UPGRADE to DirecTV HD. Got the Winegard trav'ler SlimLine 3 (SWM), 1 DTV HR20-700, HR20-100, and a H25-700 receivers, located the "Splitter" to be eliminate for the Bedroom & Basement RG-6 runs, and lined up Eric's RV in Sequim to do the work. Now some more refinement questions: 1. B-band's. I know I do NOT need on the H25 receiver, but do I need them on the two HR20 DVR's? Since my antenna is a Single Wire Multiswitch, I think not. 2. My sticks & bricks is already a SWM Slimline (antenna) system with H25's & HR24's. Can I take the three receivers that are destined for the motorhome, install/hookup in the house system to make all the necessary settings, i.e., SWM settings, antenna settings (any suggested other settings)? 3. The H25 in the motorhome bedroom. The "Line of IR Sight" will be blocked because of the TV size. That will necessitate setting the H25 & Remote for Radio Frequency. I bought an H25 wall mount for the receiver and an H25 antenna donegal. Can that remote be set up to ONLY operate the bedroom H25 via RF without affecting either HR20? Any other helpful hints and suggestions to make the HD switchover easier?

Depends on your Sat Provider ( Dish or DirecTV) and whether or not you are Standard (SD) or High Definition (HD). I am DirecTV & just converting up to HD, so I am upgrading from a King-Dome 9702 SD Only antenna to a Winegard SlimLine3 Open Array HD antenna. I went for the new PAC Brake in 2011. At the shop I frequent it was a tad over $800 & $200 install labor.

Also note the "Base/Pin Style" of the LED's. I replaced 16 in my Safari. Two above the bathroom sink were different pin styles. They were "Side Pin Style" where all of the others were "Center Pin" style. I also 2 Scone lights & a over the table light with 3 bulbs (all 40 watt screw in's). Costco sells 40 watt screw in LED's for a reasonable price which I changed to and really like.

No Go on the push button Ford 4x4. Must be a "shiftable" transfer case, i.e., be able to shift into neutral.

Well, a little Internet shopping & I found an online store selling the SWM3 Winegard at $1,519 with free shipping, so I pulled the trigger on it. That is about the same price as the SK 3005's on clearance prices. Bill - Another related question. My Safari MH has RG6 Coax that originates in the front entertainment cabinet, somewhere splits via a splitter with one path going to a basement coax cable outlet, and the second path going to the rear bedroom TV cabinet. I would like to replace both coax cable runs with HDMI cable runs. I have two 40 foot runs of HDMI & a HDMI Splitter, and have tested the setup laying the HDMI cables loosely in the hallway. Works great. Now the hard part, FINDING the pathways of the old RG6 cables/runs, and re-running the new HDMI cables. Got any good tips/techniques/tools, etc.???? Or should I just bite the budget bullet and go have it done at Camping World in Wilsonville Oregon?

What DirecTv parts are necessary to upgrade a SK-3005 to a true SWM Multiswitch antenna? The reason I ask is that a SK-3005 is about $250 cheaper than a SWM3 system, and I may already have the DTV Parts onhand.

I love my IBM/Lenovo T60/61 Thinkpad Laptops, especially after I upgraded both to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and memory to 4Gbytes.

Yep, I just lucked out being a member of the Safari Yahoo website and another member (Chuck L) having a son that actually manufactured the cylinders. Between Monaco errors, regional distributor, and bimba, it too over 3 1/2 months to sort it out.

Here is another posting by me regarding the actual R&R of the step slide cover. It may be helpful because it is NOT an easy task and you may want to follow my RV Tech's lead. First off, my working step slide cover would not be working at all if it were not for Chuck L -- 3 big cheers for Chuck & Son!!!!! My much superior Norgren Step Slide Cover Cylinder is now merrily working that cover. Now the bad news, camera was Fubar, ergo no pics. But, Spud the Eric's RV Mechanic Par-Excellence figured out a way to get at it that was amazing simple and I'll attempt to describe it. 1. First off he cut the two air feeder lines that were later re-coupled on the install. 2. He did get the old Bimba cylinder out but as he said, "The Hard Way." After my arrival this morning, Spud looked at the setup again and concluded that if he took off the side rails that the cover slides into when closed, it would offer good access for hands and tools when re-installing the Norgren cylinder, and IT DID. Spud removed the side rails, and then lifted out the VERY HEAVY 1/4 INCH STEEL PLATE SLIDE COVER, and you get an access hatch about 3 inches high and as wide as the step cover. 4. What took him forever removing the original Bimbo from it's 4 bolt mounting configuration was that they were 4 inches long and he was using an open ended wrench a quarter turn or less at a time. Spud noted that less than 2 inches were really needed on those bolts and if shortened, he could use a much faster deep well socket wrench. Wack, off went two inches of the bolts. 5. Total time involved re-installing was just over an hour. It sure works like a charm now, in fact I am thinking of slowing/softening it down a tad. Spud demo'ed the Norgren air valve adjustment for me.

Basically I had the same problem with my slide step cover in my Safari. The small shaft broke off where it attached to the front of the step slide. First off Monaco was absolutely no help, tried to charge me over $300 for a wrong part that they insisted was right. I posted my woes on the Safari MH Yahoo website and as luck would have it, a member's son worked at a factory that made pnuematic cylinders, Norgren in Ohio. They do have an online website where you can order a replacement, BUT, you had better take yours out and get the correct part number which in all likelyhood will be a Bimba. I recommend calling Norgren because a cylinder part number with the correct mounting hardware has to be determined. By the way when my Norgren has finally installed, the total bill including labor waas only $194 (Norgren cylinder was only $69). Here's my posting from the Safari website: From the dreaded and backordered Bimbo (bimba) thanks to Chuck L (from the other Safari Site)and his son. Instead of an inferior Bimba step slide cover pneumatic cylinder, I now have a Much Superior Norgren RP075X20.000-DAP RW SS. Remember that part number Safari Owners because it is a direct replacement part number for the Bimba one. And do NOT depended upon Monaco (Navistar) for either getting the part number right per the VIN Build sheet of your coach because they sure screwed up with mine. Insisted on sending me a 26 inch shaft length instead of the 20 inch one that Chuck sent. And I might add, at 1/3 the cost.

I've been noting a differences in USAF Chevrons since I was in a long time ago (62 - 69). Back in my day there was up to 6 rockers down (A3C - MSGT) then one and two up (CMSGT & SMSGT). When and what changed???? Just an Old Testicle Sgt wondering.

On my 1997 Safari with RIVA system (3 point) I would get the ding ding ding whenever the fluid level (Dextron 3) would get low. Had the RV Tech's check it out last time I was in for service. Tech said that the right rear manual value was not snugged shut and was probably the culprit. He snugged it up and so far no dinging but time will tell.

I have found the Wilson external antenna to be great in fringe areas. But you do have to have an external port (a little round rubber plug on the back of my Samsung phone) for it to plug into?

Found it on Fleabay. My coach color scheme is Dark Blue, Light Blue and silver and when we bought it, it had the silver jam nuts with blue reflectors in the center.
