  1. Do I need to have the front wheel bearings cleaned and packed even if the specs say W22 utilize an oil lubricated front hub bearing system? Thx

    Tire Rotation

I do have aluminum wheels so they must stay on the same side of the rig and not cross to the drivers side?

    Tire Rotation

My 2008 Workhorse rig has 2007 tires on it. At the 30K mileage mark the manual says to rotate the tires and clean and repack front wheel bearings. Should I have the tires rotated at the same time I have the bearings done? Will rotation make a difference in these 5 year old tires?
  5. Will check. Some folks say to press recirc when stopped in traffic.
  6. My wife's Honda Accord AC blew so cold it could burn your leg. My workhorse dash AC is anemic. It blows warm when stopped in traffic and not cold enough when running on warm days. Anyone change out their compressors for a good Nippon-Denso?
  7. Update-bought an 08 Fleetwood Southwind 35A. Meets and exceeds all expectations. Floor plan suits us to a "T" and the Allison Transmission is a bonus. The chassis AC is poor and the cruise control works occasionally otherwise lots of great features! Oh and its 50A!!
  8. Give it a rest. Go after President Johnson - The Cracker - he got the US involved on a lie. There's your villain not some washed up movie star.
  9. Great advice all, thanks! I havent heard of the RVCG. The search continues.
  10. Thanks for the advice. It seems like it's about running both AC's while running the microwave with all the lights on. With 50A there's reserve.
  11. One of the issues with the Fleetwoods is its 30 Amp service. Any limitations there? They have more energy efficient AC perhaps - there are 2 ducted.
  12. Thanks Brett. I was wondering if it was my deodorant.
  13. I know you're out there I can hear you breathing!
  14. Ok not a lot of Safari or Simba owners want to admit they bought one ;-) How about a 2008 Fleetwood Terra 34' Workhorse/Allison. Any comments warnings etc?
  15. We like the 34 foot HR we have now but were looking to move up the years from our 1999. Looking at a 2006 Safari Simba Allison. Any cautionary tales on the product? In see a recall on the trailing arms but not much else.
  16. I'm not fond of big rig gas stations either but the food at most is just too good to resist - mmm gravy.

    XZE Vs. XRV Tires

I just replaced 7 year old Goodyear regional tires 19.5" with Michelin XRV's all 6. Costco Calgary's price was the same as the Michelin program base price of $355 minus their current $17.50 discount till May 27. That price includes installation, taxes, and balancing!
  18. Here's a note on a competitors club website: have the RV Safety Recall Notice for the IOTA ITS-50R Transfer Switch. Safety Recall: 11V-577 Safety Advisory: 11-170

    85 Octane?

Yup she were 85 Octane all right. Seems Utah uses a lot of it - as Brett mentioned elevation and combustion issues. Heres some food for thought: "Modern cars are designed to run on 85-87 octane fuel. But...there's a catch here, which may or may not affect you. Most cars have a knock sensor on the engine block. When ping or knock occurs, it tells the computer, which retards the engine timing just enough to stop the knock. On level ground, there is no difference as far as fuel economy or performance is concerned. There are situations, however, when lower octane fuel is not as good an idea. One such situation is when your driving involves lots of long uphill climbs. In those cases, where the engine is working hard, the automatic retarding of the ignition will rob your car of some power, since retarding the ignition generally reduces the power output of the engine. A similar situation occurs when you are heavily loaded or pulling a heavy trailer. Pinging or knocking may occur here as well, since the engine is working harder. Again, the retardation of the ignition will reduce power and mileage. Engines running under retarded ignition conditions also run hotter, which may be a factor as well, depending on conditions. So...for most driving, the lower octane fuel is just fine. You'll never notice the difference. But, under heavy loading conditions, like the ones described above, selecting a higher octane gasoline will result in better mileage, more power, and less chance of overheating."

    85 Octane?

Scipio, UT for a fill. It does seem that elevation does seem to play a part in octane requirements but beware the advertised price is for a lower octane fuel.
  21. Before our motorhome we loved to travel but we soon tired of bad beds and bad food. WE have a mobile small one bedroom apartment we take with is wherever we go. When we travel it costs us $100 a day in gas but... save on the motel and eating out. When we are parked we save $100 a day. If you maintain your used rig - clean it and don't smoke in it it should hold its value!

    85 Octane?

Saw Pilot/Flying J prices from the freeway. Sure their prices look low but that gas price is 85 octane. My Ford F53 pings with low octane fuel. They recommend 87 min. I'll often, since I have to put my card through twice, put half and half or thereabouts. Slightly more dough but better performance and some say better mileage.
  23. Ford Motor Co. has been sued for allegedly selling trucks with defective fuel tank linings over a 10-year period, and hiding the problem from consumers even as it warned dealers. The lawsuit filed Wednesday in a New Jersey federal court said fuel tank linings on 10 E- and F-series truck models made between 1999 and 2008 would “separate and flake off.” Link: http://www.claimsjou...3/16/203115.htm
  24. This size is a standard large above the range oven. Picked a Samsung 1.7 cu ft and it fits fine. Brackets are different but fit the gap well. Price 249 at BestBuy.
  25. These ovens are standard except for the vibration issues associated with travelling. Any brand or model recommendation appreciated.
