  1. The real catch regarding the Bio is it's natural tendency to clean things, and that also makes some seal and line materials venerable to being dissolved and all that stuff gois into the filters. One gains lubricity lost to the ULSD. Think the real question for the fuel delivery system is, where and what are the items to look for regarding each model year chassis. A little like a dartboard - what number or item comes up next. Rich.

Joe, the first thing the fuel goes through after the inline filter is a the large fuel filter / water separator in most cases if not all of the 02 series, then the lift pump and on to the second filter. So it is kind of puzzling, but that bad boy has caused more then one shop to scratch there heads. Most of the coaches have been around 8 years old before things show up and I have a little bird in my head thinking that it has caused a few lift pump and injector pumps to be replaced. One was running North of its home state Georgia. The shop that it was towed to was certain it was a pump issue, but the owner insisted they keep looking for a third filter. When it was changed the coach owner said it was running better then he could remember. Rich.
  3. Thought I had posted this information, but apparently I did not. This filter has a 15,000 miles recommended replacement cycle. The ISB-02 Series engine uses 3 fuel filters and many Freightliner or Cummings service centers are not aware of the inline filter located in the frame rail, just behind the rear axle in most cases on the drivers side. I know of one coach where it was found on the passengers side though ! Many shops change 2 filters and the coach still has no power. Many shops want to change the lift pump and or the injector pump when the engine fails to operate properly and a fuel filter is allot cheaper then either of the fuel pumps Years used are from late 2002 to 2006 using the high pressure rail injector system. So it might be prudent to contact Freightliner using the last 6 digits of the Vin number like G44444. The first Vin portion needed is going to be a Letter !!! The attached file offers some help, but in most cases it requires a small tech and is hidden under wiring harness. It is black and about the size of a medium sized banana. So caring a copy might make it easier to convince the service center to keep looking, because that 3rd. filter is there if Freightliner says it is. Rich In-line_fuel_strainer_for_ISB02.pdf

Mike, By chance is there a web sight that lists chassis by year and what parts and items need to be changed to be able to run higher Bio. mix fuels? and what year build date is considered to be OK to run any and all future blends? The engines do not tend to have any problem with Bio fuels, but everything from the fuel tank to the injectors and the material used to construct them, tend to have issues with higher Bio blends. The other item of concern is the EPA appears using an outdated chart of the quantity of ethanol to mix into fuels instead of percentage. The amount of hydrocarbons used is declining because the increased efficiency. Rich.
  5. chlhcdhlfh, There is very limited information covering you coach,but I did find this information. Fleetwood Customer Support-1-800-322-8216. The first file is a manual that should be close to matching you's. The second file is a copy of the 12 volt electrical information that is in the manual. Note, the is a line hi-lighted in red at the bottom of some information that should have come with your coach. If it is missing call the number above and see if they can supply you with a copy.   7. Joshua, The fact that you where smelling Sulfur fumes(rotten eggs) and they are now gone means there is a high probability any and all the batteries are not in good condition. A second indication of weak batteries is that when you tried to level coach, as soon as there was a high current demand on the batteries the jack system hydraulic pump stopped. The results regarding the alternator sound good. Now you need to see if the Original Charger is working. It should read 12.5 to 14 volts depending on the voltage level before turning on the charger. If you have purchased a volt meter, if that is the case use it the check and see if there is any AC voltage reading on the 12 volt supply. AC in the charge circuit can cause the batteries to boil off water and that could explain the large loose of water from the batteries. Rich.
  8. Eddie, You mentioned that both slides extend OK, but do not retract. That kind of points to a common point to both control modules. that to me would be at the control panel where the 2 rocker switch's are located. The point I would look for is in the area of the wiring powering the retract circuit.(Common wire feeding both switches) Will look at the diagram you posted of the complete electrical an see if anything stands out! I did not want to go that far back regarding telephones, but I did need to stand on a chair to turn the crank and then ask the operator to connect me to my friends and party lines where the norm. Note ! one could get a good jolt holding on the wires and turning the crank. That most likely is where my curiosity about electrons started. Rich.

  15. From the information I have found, the slide out system uses HWH equipment that are hydraulic cylinders. So it looks like the air switches close to provide power to a module for each slide. That would lead me to believe that the air switch could be located near each slide. The one you pictured would control the slide right behind the drivers seat. Carl's thought about contacting CC is a good one and you could ask if they can provide some PDF files covering the system. You might not totally understand them, but having information on file is always handy. Systems rarely fail when the coaches are parked in the driveway or in storage and not all service centers have files for every coach on file. Rich.
  16. Jim, I have cleaned a number of relay contacts using 1500 automotive sandpaper on the low voltage ones and 800 to 400 paper on the higher voltage contacts. A small pack of 6 by 6in. automotive body sandpaper in 4 to 6 grits is a very handy item to have on hand and it can be folded to clean both surfaces at the same time. Also stiff enough to slide between the contacts. Put just a little pressure on the movable contact with a pen knife or small flat bladed screw driver. Repeat the process for the NC(Normally Closed) set of contacts, just need to open them and use the spring pressure as the closing force. Cleaned thousands of old telephone mechanical contact line switches to keep the things working using the same process. No touch phones, just the old rotary dial back then. OH man that kind of dates me. Rich.
  17. Eddie, Sounds like you have made some good progress! Glad you found a tech that could add power to the proper point and retract the slides. A good little trick to know should the same issue popup in the future. Where is the board in the picture located ? It sure looks like one would expect when looking at the wiring diagram for a 2 slide control module. Rich.
  18. ajshepherd, It looks like there are red air lines running into the one black box, next to the air (chuck fitting)? I can not blow up the picture enough to read the name on the box from the angle the picture was taken and if all the wires going to the Bendex (air operated)switches are white, I do not see any wires in the wiring going upwards, but it sure looks like ones that you can see run down, but do not go past the lower edge of the inner black box. Could you enlighten the group as to what the other 2 Bendix switches do or control? and maybe post the name on the box that I can not read. Note, it sure looks like there is an air chuck fitting just to the lower left of the back box as well. Rich.
  19. It is not the fall that hurts, it is that sudden stop at the bottom ! Maybe you could place a trampoline under the area and if you fall, it should reduce the chance of major injury. Should the kids be around - they might think you where having fun and offer some help! The second option might be to park along side a swimming pool. Anyway ! I do use the pool that I bought to wash the coach and a cloth attached to the Velcro and slide it along the top to wash it, or should I say get the worst of the dirt off, but to clean it real well. I move the slid in just about 6in. wash and wax the top and repeat it until the total area is cleaned and waxed. Put some silicon spray on a cloth and wipe down all the inside seals. bump out the slide and do all the seals I can reach. The one that runs along the top under the topper is the real hard one - I use that long pole with a cloth sprayed with silicon and run the edge along that one. A few trips and the cloth area is clean after a few trips from front to back and back to front. Rich.
  20. Regarding the problem with the gas lifts. Bought 4 new ones and they did not work, so I called the supplier and asked at what temperature do you test them, because above 75 degrees they work fine and below 65 degrees one needs the prop them open. It has been over 6 months and still no answer. Still have 6 or 8 of the OEM units and they are still working fine after 15 years. Rich.
  21. Joe, I do clean all the seals with silicon and also wash the top surface of the slide, by moving it in or out. That kind of makes it easier to get to when on a short stepladder. A good coat of some kind of protect rent on the side walls also help then to seal up. Rich.

The 2 relays in the larger box are in the 20 to 40 amp range. The fat square box under the big one is a control module and the thinner box mounted on the wall is often a resister terminator and or diode unit. The drawing of the control circuit, the one with the fewest lines is the slide motor(s) control circuit wiring. The drawing shows 2 fuses. A 5 amp fuse from the ignition, that locks out the slides from moving when the coach is running and the other is a 25 amp fuse that powers the motor circuits. Relay 1 is for one slide and relay 2 is for the other slide. So the primary relay that connects power to either # 1 or #2 is not closing or the fuse (25 amp) is bad; or it could be a bad cable supplying power to the board that has a problem. Hope this helps !   25. Got a feeling he is in a state of total frustration !!! The issue with the Cooler appears to have been known before his coach was built and the sad thing is, I have feeling a that the chassis builder got hoodwinked into buying them with a low price. Rich.
