Don't have a recommendation, but a word to the wise, they like to start out very high on their pricing...

Vanha,
You might try googling RV Salvage. There a number of them across the country and they may have just what you need. Colaws in Carthridge Missouri comes to mind.
Herman
Good suggestion, here's the number: 877-548-2125.

Thanks for the links, good information.

I tried a bucket with a 5th wheel. If really cold, you can't get a 50 amp cord coiled into a bucket...maybe a 55 gal bucket.
-
Auto start can be quite handy as it is a "set and forget" item, just like AGM batteries.

I think Brett has the right idea.....no sense in spending a lot of money (which you will) to attempt to get something that is not really an improvement. I realize this is a "principal of the thing" issue, but it may not be worth the cost. However, I would continue to give WB the bad publicity they deserve by posting your problem on various forums.

The reason I ask was we have at least 400 DD13's at work, we run Shell Rotella 10w30 full synthetic with Baldwin filters and we see a million miles from them. Great engine! We run the 15w40 on the Series 60's that are still floating around.
I guess the filter would be hard to find in an RV application especially since its a canister type and its location,
. I would be curious how that engine bay is constructed with a DD13 back there, I hope it at least has a side radiator to give some room.
Just curious.....thanks
What is "work" for you? I'm curious as to who would have that many DD13s. All American Coaches have side radiators. As for the configuration, the guys who change my oil could not find the oil filter. As I was calling Freightliner, they found it about in the middle of the configuration, a bit off to the curb side.

Our past coach had a single, this one is stackable. Both worked fine, the stackable is a bit bigger and more convenient.

The guy who named the Michelins must be an ex GI. Acronyms for all.

This diesel #4 for me...a Duramax in a Chevy pick up, a 27 HP Yanmar in a boat, a 400 HP Cummins ISL, and this one. I've used Shell Rotella 15w40 in all of them. The Detroit Diesel is a DD 13, 12.8L, 500 HP, and 1,650 ft/lbs of torque. The filter was very very hard to find. They are on the internet, but I was informed by Freightliner, the filter has to be the exact one recommended. Some are off by only one letter or one number...but should not be used. The number of the correct filter is A4731800109.

I tell the D/W, who has yet to drive, to watch the toad in the rear camera, that's the best indicator of whether or not you are in the center of the road.

Having been to both Canada and Mexico many times, none in an RV, the easiest thing for me to do is not go to either of those places again. That's what I plan to do.

"Holds" over 12.5 gal (50 + qts), takes 10.5 gal (42 qts) at oil change.
-
We carry one 50 amp extension cord. Only used it once, but when you need it, you need it. We were in a CG on the MS River that was set up for Class A's...we had a 5th wheel at the time. The only way we could park facing the river was 'backwards,' which put all the connections on the 'wrong' side.
-
Carl...true, this is RV # 6 for us.
-
Most engine manufacturers say to change the oil at xxxx miles or one year, whichever comes first. The Detroit Diesel I have in this Eagle says to change the oil at 35k intervals, no time limit.
-
We didn't want to fool with It and usually don't do laundry daily or every other day. Just easier to use laundry facility with multiple machines.
We love our Splendide, we are on our second model. There are some CGs where we would not even want to go in the laundry, much less put clothes in one or their machines.

With the late model Ford F53 chassis, IN ORDER-- go until you are happy:
Correct tire pressure based on actual weight plus 5PSI or so safety reserve. Over or under inflation can result in squirrely handling.
Cheap handling fix of moving sway bar end link attachment points.
Rear track bar: allows for full vertical motion of coach vs axle, but limits side to side movement.
Better shocks.
Verify front end caster is near max spec for better tracking.
If all the above fail, get a DP with a tag...guaranteed to fix everything.

... since they are both owned by Michelin...
Bill
Michelin owns BF Goodrich, but I don't think they own GY.

Lots of information on this thread. This has been posted before, but here's the bottom line:
Tow rating is the lower of:1. Coach's hitch rating.2. Coach tow rating.3. Chassis tow rating (sometimes different than the coach's).4. The difference in weight between the coach's GCWR and the coach's actual weight when ready to tow. -
Bill.
Drive shaft needs to be lubed twice a year minimum! I check mine after every trip! I don't think you can over lube, just wipe off the excess so it won't sling all over!
Carl
Agree, I lube mine six months after the shop does it...and, as noted above, I insure they do it during the annual lube.

I've done all my vehicle oil changes from my teens...until we got a DP. This one drains 40 quarts, that's lots of oil. I found a small diesel engine shop that works only on diesels, 18 wheeler tractors, bull dozers, cranes, pick ups, etc. They encourage customers to wander around their shop and watch what they are doing. Since I bring my own oil (they don't care) from Sam's, and filter, I know the right oil is going in the crank case. I can also point out some hard to find lube points, and key lube points...like the axle, that they might not know about on a DP. Oil/filter change and complete lube for $65 is hard to beat. In turn, they use the old oil in their shop furnace.

keysbabe1...if you haven't already, you might consider getting a concealed carry permit and arm your self accordingly.

Call Cummins with the engine number.

Anybody, with any assets, needs an umbrella policy. They are very reasonable.
