I turned 80 in October and my wife is 76. We still enjoy the RV, and both of us drive, although we don't drive 700 or 800 miles a day anymore. If you feel young, and can still safely drive, keep RVing.

I tow a 2011 Honda Fit. No modifications are necessary, inexpensive, great gas mileage, lots of storage with rear seats down. Certainly big enough for two people.

After replacing two recall boxes, my Norcold 1200 is still working, but I have kept the wires to bypass it if it quits again. I'll just take a chance on a fire. Carl Peterson

This is to pass on info that may be helpful to others having generator problems. For several months my Onan gas gen. in a 2006 Safari Simba has been stopping. I run the gen. under load every month, so I didn't think it was dirty carb. I finally took it to a RV gen repair place. After running it all day, it finally stopped. They replaced the fuel pump, and I have had no problems since. They said many times fuel pumps give random problems, run for a while, then stop. Hope this is helpful to anyone having similar problems.

I just returned from the repair place to have the new recall part from Norcold that supposedly prevents fire from overheating. If this one fails, I will permanently wire around the module and take my chances on a fire.

If I knew how to post a picture, I would.

Brett- I have a 2006 gas 33' Safari Simba, no airbags. I don't think the warning applies to my chassis cause I couldn't find any trailing arms on the rear axle. Thanks for your research.

I agree with MR- I've had to use Coach Net on several occasions and their service was timely and very professional. Once in the middle of Iowa in the country with two blown tires. I was on my way in about three hours. Don't leave home without it.

Rj- I agree with Brett- unless you come through Houston during high noon or evening hours- stay on I- 45. We have done it many times, as we live in Alvin. North of Houston in Spring is a very nice park called Rayford Crossing, a little expensive but well worth it. Carl Peterson

I put laminate flooring in my last motorhome, and it turned out well. I had no problem with the floating floor. Just remember that the laminate is heavier than the carpet you replace. I didn't have any slides in the Flair, and of course I didn't do the motor cover.

I just came by the RV repair place, and the new module was bad also, so They've ordered another one from Norcold. I thought the info was pertinent to other Norcold owners.

I have a 2006 Safari Simba 33ft. gas with a Norcold 1200 4 door refrigerator. While preparing for a dry camping trip with the refrig. completely full, it quit working. The control panel was inoperative. I checked battery voltage,okay, but I wasn't getting 12 volt power to the control panel. I removed the outside access panel to the refrig. and saw the module that was part of the recent recall. I took the 12 volt lead going to this module and plugged it into the refrig. circuit board, and viola, I got power to the refrig. and went on my trip. I know I essentially bypassed the recall, but I had a cold refrig. for the trip. I called Bob Dues, the RV repair place who did the recall and they said to bring it in to see what failed. I will follow this up with their fix (probably a new module from Norcold), but wanted to post this in case others have this failure while on the road. Just be aware that you won't be protected from the failure of overheating that the recall protected you from.

Brett- Thanks for the info. Having had two blowouts this past summer, I always worry about tire pressure when traveling. My offer to take you flying is still good. I live at Songbird airport west of Alvin.

JT- Call Lori at Equal and she can answer your question: 717-496-0536 . I had the same problem, she sent me some new valve cores with a filter, but they don't have a ball at the end. Carl Peterson

Betty- I bought six new tires for my Safari Simba recently and balanced them with equal, resulting in good results. However, I had two flats, both at home, after checking the tire pressure before a trip. I called the people at Equal, and they said that a filter should have been put in the valve stem to prevent the material from causing a leak in the valve core. They sent me the filters and had the dealer install them to prevent this in the future. Hopefully, this will prevent this problem in the future. Carl Peterson

I have had Direct TV since 1996. Even though I have Att Uverse at home, I keep minimal service with Direct TV. I take it with me in the RV to get CNN, FOX, etc. If I'm at a location for more than a few days, I call them and they switch so I can get local channels, free service. I don't have digital TV's so this works real well. Even if you don't have an auto antenna, Manually locating the satellite is not a problem. Carl Peterson

Jim- I recently purchased 6 new tires (Goodyear G-14) for my 2006 Safari Simba,gas,33ft. All six were balanced using Equal, and it provides a very smooth ride. I had never used it before, but the Tire shop assured me it would work. The price was reasonable, $10.00 per tire.

Bill- I will try that with the flex tubing. Thanks for the tip. Cheaper and easier than a new pump. Carl

I have 2006 Safari Simba, gas, with a noisy water pump. It is a Shurflo.,2.8 gal/min. and satisfactory except for the noise. I have put foam all around it, so I'm sure the noise is coming from the pump itself. Could anyone recommend a Shurflo pump that doesn't chatter?

I have had CoachNet ever since buying my 2006 Simba. I was towed three times due to brake problems. They even recommended a very good RV repair place in Houston (RV Masters) for the final repair. As reported on another forum, They have "saved" me twice for tire problems on the road. They found a tire shop with the correct tires and the ability to change the tires out in the boondocks. I wouldn't leave home without Coach Net. My only cost was paying for the new tires.

Many thanks to all who responded to my the leaking valve on my grey water tank. I found a shutoff valve which connects to the sewer hose connection and a bottom connection for the sewer hose to connect to. $25.00 at Dues Camping Center in Dickinson, TX. I'm sure most RV parts places have them, but I was there for a recall on my Dometic 1200 RLIM refrigerator. Problem solved.

I would not leave home without having Coachnet. They have saved me many times in a very ASAP manner. This summer I had a blowout (two tires) in Lamoni, Iowa, and they found a dealer with tires and they replaces them on very busy I-35, I was on my way in 3 hours. I just replaced the tires on my RV with Goodyear g670, like you quoted. Walkout price including balancing was $3000.00. I didn't price Firestone, but Michelins were about the same.

I have my RV insured with USAA. I checked this AM and I have not been passed on to Progressive. I have been with them for 56 years so maybe I got special treatment. They have always treated me fairly on any Auto or RV claims. They don't carry my home insurance because of the county I live in (Brazoria) near the Gulf Coast. My premium is $900.00/yr. for full coverage on a 2006 33ft. Safari Simba.
