I too am confused over a few points. Sorry if these sound dumb, but I'm still a RV newbie. For one, I thought I was told nitrogen was better because it helped the tires last longer and not heat up as much while driving. I have a good air compressor at my home and would gladly check the pressures and top off before each trip, except that right now, my tires are running with nitrogen. I bought the RV in early April, had to put tires on straight away, and the shop used nitrogen. If item 1 is not true, then it would seem to me, switching to air, so I can keep/maintain a much better handle on tire pressure, would be more beneficial than having to take the RV somewhere to check tire pressure and top off, if needed, and having to pay for the nitrogen besides all the other inconveniences. If anyone can shed more light on this, it would be helpful.

Can you give more info on the recall. I have a Norcold. I fired it up today to provide a bit more fridge capacity for a party here at the house. The freezer got very cold, but not the fridge.

Can anyone find the powdered water softener mentioned in GEO? I found only Calgon Liquid in 2 grocery stores. Haven't had a chance to check Walmart yet.

I just tried it before my trip last weekend. Seemed good. Just got this RV and the first time I sanitized. I had some odor in the water. After flushing the tank, is was good, especially the hot water heater tank--the odor was gone. I added a smidgen in when I put fresh water back in the tank at the end, as well.

I read the Geo Method, interesting. I noted that he recommends using some bleach for odors, but many others here say the bleach can/will hurt plumbing seals. Any thoughts?

Montie, you ought to look into one of these Traffic Ticket Attorneys. In FL, they easily get things thrown out and you may be able to hire one with a phone call and scanning documents back and forth via email or a fax. Thanks all for the feedback. I have a pretty good idea of the route I will take and where I will be making stops along the way. I'll probably review it all in late August and actual make a trip plan with the necessary info.

I agree that on many trips you may just want to pull over and sleep for a few hours, (it may go over 4 hours, it may stay under 4 hours). In such cases, you're not looking to hookup, take advantage of amenities, etc. You just want a place to park, shut the curtains and catch a bit of shut-eye. Such laws are ridiculous. Do some people in RV's abuse it, like dumping right into a parking lot, probably. But deal with these specific instances, don't make a blanket law forbidding, "whatever". That's one of the problems with this country today. Instead of dealing with a certain specific issue, they pass a law that affects the 98% who are not causing a problem, as well. I'll avoid Van Horn and anywhere else that does things like this. I wonder if in Sherry's case, if they actually checked her time parked and then checked again to be sure 4 or more hours had passed before giving the ticket. And what is wrong with knocking on the door, informing the RV'er about the ordinance and giving them a chance to move on? Guess there's no money in that.

First trip went off well. I sanitized Thu night into Fri morning. Most of the odor in the water turned out to be coming from the water in the hot water tank. After fully flushing through the hot water, it cleared up. We decided to capture all the water we were flushing and throw it over the side, for 2 reasons, 1. no worries about chlorine going into the tanks, 2. no easy dumping here at home, so this way we weren't putting any more water into either holding tank. One other thing, at the end of our weekend we dumped for the first time, before leaving the campground. It went off well, without a hitch, no leaking stinky slinky, no mess, no problems. Like Larmans asked, I'm a bit confused. 1. The bleach used to sanitize the potable water system will not hurt it's seals & gaskets? 2. If you are unable to pump the water through the system and directly overboard, (like with your kitchen sink), wouldn't that water possibly hurt the seals & gaskets for the gray water system? 3. I am thinking of using the Sodium DiChlor system to sanitize vs. household bleach, (this comes up on web searches for sanitizing). If I do, would I have less/more/same worry about seals/gaskets? Thanks, sorry to be such a newbie. I plan to sanitize Thurs night into Friday for our first weekend excursion to Koreshan State Park.

I'd like suggestions on getting something to pickup wifi better and also share it in my RV. I am familiar with Radio Labs Wave Magnum and heard good things, but it only connects to one laptop, via the USB port. Ideally I can find a router that uses the local wifi signal as the WAN side and then has it's own wifi for the LAN side. Basically instead of the WAN side being an ethernet from either Cable Modem or DSL Modem, the WAN side would pickup wifi in an RV Park, from McDonalds, or whatever. Then once this router is connected to the wireless as the WAN, it would act like a normal wireless router for the LAN side. Any suggestions? I looked at a few of the other products at Radio Labs, but wasn't sure I was seeing something like I described.

How is the part from DFW to Wichita Falls?

Thanks Bill, we are traveling from Ft Laud. Here are mileages as per Google Maps. 2388 mi - I10 up to I40 via US 287 (Dallas, Wichita Falls, Amarillo) 2488 mi - I10 up to I40 via I35 (Dallas, OKC, Amarillo) 2568 mi - I10 to I17 up to Flagstaff, via Phoenix I have often done routes, in a car, that use some US Routes vs. Interstates, but usually only small distances, for example US15 from Frederick, MD to Harrisburg, PA, a distance of 63 miles. But the Wichita Falls route is 274 miles from Interstate to Interstate. Seems like a long way on smaller roads in an RV. But I'm not ruling it out. That's why I'm asking about it here and hoping to get some idea of what kind of a drive it would be, if we do it. One thing, if we go that way, I will probably try to time it so that is during the overnight.

We will be staying in Mather Campground, within the Grand Canyon Village area. Originally we were going to tent camp, until we got this 26' class C, 2 weeks ago. Our campsite is listed as OK for tent or RV up to 30'.

Thanks Bill, I had thought of the route thru Wichita Falls, (drove it many many years ago). But I'm afraid having to slow down in all the little towns along the way would kill my gas mileage. Also that whole route has a plus and a minus. The plus, I have a brother in Shreveport that we could visit, maybe stay over one night. The minus I thought might be the bit of mountains across NM, although it's not much, but east of Albq going thru Tijeras Canyon is a bit hilly at times. At least on the trip to the canyon, we will probably drive overnight most nights. We have a little more time on the return, so we may take it a bit easier. Whereas the I10 all the way to Phoenix ought to be mostly flat, but I've never gone that way across Texas nor southern AZ.

We are planning our first big trip with our recently purchased 2006 Winnebago Aspect 26A to the Grand Canyon this coming September. For the drive there and back, I want to stay mostly on interstates, make the best time, face the least traffic and be as fuel efficient as possible. I can't decide between these 2 routes. 1.) Fla Turnpike, I75, I10, I49, I20, I635, I35E, I35, I240, I44, I40 to Flagstaff or 2.) Fla Turnpike, I75, I10, I17 up to Flagstaff Also, from Flagstaff, is it better to continue W on I40 to Williams and go up Route 64 or to go through Flagstaff and take Route 180 over and up to the canyon. Any feedback on these routes or even a good alternative would be appreciated. Thanks, John

I've been researching this too. I've had the RV almost 2 weeks and need to decide soon. I'm between Wholesale Warranties.net, (dealing with Daniel as well), and the referral from American RV Warranties, (that NJYurkins mentioned, dealing with Lynn of B&T Marketing). Anyone have any opinions on which way I should go?
