  1. I stayed at KOA/Encore park there a couple years ago. There is a nice bike/walking trail just outside the park, that I enjoyed walking my dog. Do stop and visit some of the shops in Matlacha, there was a little ice cream shop there that gave the dog a little ice cream cone. I enjoy reading your blog.
  2. Go to the Blue Ox web site and click on baseplates then put in your area in FL. and it will give you places that do Blue Ox baseplates. I had mine installed in OH, and had a problem with mine on my way to FL one year and they referred me to Southeast Power Systems on Adamo Dr in Tampa They were able to fix the problem.
  3. My daughter and son-in-law park there motorhome at Fidalgo Bay RV park, and they like that park. They have taken their toad on the ferry to the islands, but they also have a boat in Anacortes, and have stayed at a county park there with their RV.
  4. I have a 25 ft motorhome and tow my 2004 Honda CRV. I have the US Gear Unified braking system installed, and I've been very happy with it.
  5. If your in the Cincinnati, OH area I recommend Southwest RV Service, in Fairfield. That's where I take mine for service, I find them to do great service on my RV and they're honest and reasonably priced.
  6. Try "Two Crazy Ladies Badges" They do badges, signs and I think they do the magnetic signs. The phone number I have for them is 575-525-0141. I'm not sure if they spell it (Too or Two) but you can find them online.
  7. Could it be under a bed or cabinet? My water tank is under the dinette seat, and the pipes are below the floor level. When I bought this unit new in 2009, there was no valve there to empty the tank, but when I looked underneath the unit there was a pipe coming down under the water tank, but it was sealed. The dealer went in and fixed it. and made a stick that would reach way down there to turn the valve. You could also call Thor and see if they can help you.
  8. I have a Thor Four Winds Chateu, and the linoleum floor in my bathroom is buckling. I do have an extended warranty with Interstate, I'll have to give them a call and see if they cover it. I go to a local RV service place near me and I'm going to check with them to see what they suggest.
  9. I believe you RV was made by Thor. I have a Four Winds Class C made by Thor, purchased new in 2009. Before the end of the first year, I noticed my drivers seat starting to peel. I was fortunate enough to catch it under warranty, so they replaced them. I had later read several complaints on other RV sites about other coaches made by Thor that were having the same problem that you are having. If you google "peeling leather seats in motorhomes" you can see some of the post.
  10. If your traveling with pets, you might want to take the toad. It will must likely we warm/hot weather, and you could leave the pets in an air conditioned RV, while you sightsee. As mentioned above when you get to the Grand Canyon you can only take the shuttle. You can use the toad to get to the canyon from where you are camped. Visiting other places you visit, parking the RV might be difficult.
  11. I've been to Glacier NP 3 different times in a Class B RV, and traveling with a dog. I needed electric so I stayed in St. Mary's at the KOA. I don't usually stay at KOA's, but I was able to rent a car there to explore the park. At that time there sites where not very level and alot of the bigger units were up on alot of boards. There is another park there up on a hill, I don't remember the name of it. I then went back to Rte. 2 and headed to West Glacier. The entrance to the NP is closer to Rte.2 on the West side. There I would have liked to stay in the park at the Apgar campground, but I needed electric, so I stayed at the KOA there. It was a much nicer and very well maintaned KOA. Be sure to visit Many Glaciers and Swift Current areas of the park. Late in the afternoon lots of people gather at Swift Current to see the grizzlys roaming on the hill behind the store. I also really enjoyed seeing all the lodges. Have a great time and remember there is a length limit for your vehicle to drive the going to the sun road.
  12. There is a great private RV Park in West Yellowstone, It's Grizzly Rv Park. In Glacier NP I stay at the KOA in St. Marys and the KOA in West Glacier. The National Park campground at Swiftcurrent, near Many Glaciers Lodge is also a good place to see wild life.
  13. Pueblo El Mirage, in El Mirage, west side of Phoenix. It is an excellent park with lots of activities and nice people.
  14. We've stayed at Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground, in Mackinaw City a couple of years ago. We took the ferry over to Mackinaw for a day and then continued on to the UP. Sept. should be nice up there. Have a good trip.
  15. I have the Blue Ox Aladdin tow bar on my 25ft Class C to tow my Honda CRV. When I had that installed they recommended the Unified Brake System by US Gear. I had it installed and it works great. All I have to do is touch the brakes in the motorhome and it activates the brakes in the CRV. You look them up under US Gear braking systems. Good luck.
  16. It's been a couple of years since I've camped in those places, but I can recommend some campgrounds that we stayed at with a 32 ft. motorhome. In the Denver area there is Dakota Ridge RV park in Golden, Co., Mt Rushmore area there is Rafter J Bar Ranch in Hill City, which is pretty close to Mt. Rushmore, In the Yellowstone area the park that we really like is the Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone, it's within walking distance to the town. The last time I was at Mt. Rushmore with my granddaughter the family next to us recommended a tour that they took. I don't usually do tours, but we did do this one and were extremely glad we did. It starts out at Fort Hayes with a chuckwagon breakfast, then you board a bus and go to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, the pigtail bridges Custer Lodge etc.then back to the fort for dinner and a show. Enjoy your trip.
  17. I had a 1998 Roadtrek Popular for 11 years, bought it new, took good care care of it and loved it. I sold it 3 years ago and bought a 23 ft. Class C because I wanted to spend the winters in warmer places. There are some trips that I have made that I wish I still had that Roadtrek. Mine had 79,000 miles on it when I sold it, and was in excellent condition. If you go to the Roadtrek website and go to the owners group and click on Rodtreks for sale you can get an idea of what other RT's are selling for and what they have in them. Good luck and enjoying trekking. By the way Roadtrek has a wonderful Roadtrek Club that is a chapter of FMCA
  18. I have had the braided extenders on my Ford E-350 and they had slow leaks. Before my trip this summer I switched to the all metal extenders, but then I had to take the wheel covers off to check my air pressure. My tire store suggested replacing the wheel covers with wheel liners. (which I had never heard off) However he told me what I needed and I ordered them from Amazon (it was cheaper) and he put them on for me. I was gone for 2 months (about 6000 miles) and never had a problem with my tires needing air, and it was so easy to check them.
  19. I have a 2009 Four Winds Class C with the same model lock. 2 years ago I packed the RV in the morning and had no problem getting in and out the door. When I left for FL later, I stopped at a rest area and found I couldn't get my door open from the inside or outside. At each additional stop and when I stopped for the night I still couldn't get the door open, so I just used the drivers door. The next morning I was ready to take the dog out the drivers door, and I decided to try the door again, and it opened. I tightened the screws on the door and sprayed it with silicone, and it worked the rest of the trip. I just took a cross country trip and back and I had a problem with it being hard to open. At one stop, the door wouldn't close, another RV'er tried to help and we finally got the door to close, he said it was the lock. After reading the post of other people having problems with the lock it concerns me that if there was a fire or you had to get out quickly this creates a dangerous situation. I think it should be reported to NHSTA as a safety concern.
  20. The person I spoke with was very helpful, and he gave me his name and his direct line, if I had any other questions just call him. He also e-mailed me the the plumbing diagrams for my unit. I think I got the phone number in my owners book. My low point drain is located underneath the back rear corner (under where the bathroom is located). Hope this helps.
  21. I have a Four Winds Class C and when I couldn't find my low point drain, I called Thor and gave them my vin number and they were able to tell me where it was located on my unit. They were very helpful.
  22. I'm going to a wedding in Spokane in July, and I made reservations at Alderwood RV Resort. It's right on Rte. 2 and has a 9.5/9/9 Trailer Life rating. It sounds like a good location, although some of the comments I read said the sites are close to each other. I think there are a few campgrounds around Diamond Lake, a little east of Spokane.
