  1. Nice!  99% of RV owners don't realize that you can blow as much money on a 5'er and tow as you can on a DP coach and toad!  I have a dear friend in NE Texas, his wife and one of the two daughters are into horses, they both have their own 5'er that holds 2 horses and 40 foot living quarters, just the trailers alone was $1.3 million, built by Newell trailer Div. in 2012 (they don't do trailers anymore)!  2 years ago, he bought 2 Volvo Tractors custom built, with auto tranny. Extreme end of the choices!

Have not heard anything bad about yours & they seem to be well built.😃

Happy Trails and keep the rubber side down!

  2. 4,207 lbs is a lot of weight.  You probably have a 5,000 lb hitch, but that is no guarantee that you can tow 5,000 lbs. look on the rear axle it will have a stamp in kilos or pounds telling you what it's rated for.  That would include weight of coach in rear when loaded, so if you weigh your coach, when ready for travel, then subtract from axle stamp and it will give you what weight you can tow max! Nothing allowed for safety...

  3. mikemontg. Welcome to the Forum!

As for the NSA, never heard off it.

Most common is, Roadmaster, Blue Ox and Delco.

First you need to know the weight off the GMC, then how much can the Vista when fully loaded for travel, tow?  I did not know that a AWD can be towed 4 wheels down!  I have seen way to many WB Vistas tow too heavy a vehicle.

  4. Ian, that was my reason in  1967...I was given a First Issue and a July 67' issue!  We still got them!  Since Linda (my new wife) is a member of both FMCA and Escapees,  we use the extra copies to leave in Laundry rooms at RV Parks, all over North America.  We also take out what we might need in the future, 2 binders, one for Tech Talk & one for interesting places to see...that's from the extra copy!

Since we traded in both of our DP's, for one and got married, Linda is retiring her F# and Escapees, we will travel on mine.  We will still do  the above!

As Ross said, there is no saving on Staff, either way!  FMCA is non profit, FMC is for profit. For most, it's confusing!

    Wayne, too true!

  5. RSBILLL,  Porsche "Hot Rod?" Never seen one!  Will you modify your current engine or drop in something else?

I did a Lime Green, Opel station wagon, once!  1960, mated to a Buick 401 V8...we put it in the rear and blacked out the rear windows...real trick was to keep it cool and plenty of fresh air.  Built a fire wall, between me and it.  Was it safe? NO!  Fast? OMG yes! Friday evenings it would take the run from Santa Monica to Big Bob's Drive Inn, in San Fernando Valley!  Lot of "Rod's" there, in 1964.

Sorry, Herman/Joe...Back to Steep Grades in RV's! Please, Please, don't delete us...🙏🙏
