  1. thanks, i tried, but that information is only available for chapter officers.
  2. So, what is FMCA spending money on? -the magazine should be self-sustainable with advertisers. - the conventions should be self sustainable with entry fees and booths from vendors. - The website should be self-sustainable with advertising. The yearly dues should cover the club insurance, the other benifits that dont have extra fees, paid positions in the club, and advertising/promotions (and probably a bunch of small stuff). Remember, this club was profitable in 1970 with less than 10,000 members, a magazine, a gift benifit for recruting new members, discounts for insurance, and several other benifits. Things have changed and prices have gone up, but ask yourself, if we started an all new club, what would you include, and what would you get rid of? There has to be too much $$ being spent somewhere.
  3. Like Dons above, we too use paper maps for much of our route planning. we use Campgroundreviews.com which is paired with RVtripwizard to find campgrounds and be alerted to low bridges. we occasionally use gasbuddy to find the cheapest gas in the area.

    RV Hos ?

you can also subscribe to RV Trip Wizard and use that system to plan your trip. it will take the measurements of your coach into consideration when planning your route, as well as other features such as calculating your gas usage and total costs of the trip.
  5. I know this is an old thread, but we just started looking at this for a trip next year. Also, its not in or next to the park, but if ever visiting Universial Studios in orlando, I'd suggest staying at Bill Fredricks park. its less than 10 minutes away by car, Uber is about $20.00 one way, $25.00/night for full hookups and a gated park as well. really quiet and lots of hiking trails, and even a petting zoo!
  6. we have always run our 'fridge while traveling. even when parked for short periods (like at tge grocery store), should not be a problem. as always, level the coach best you can when parked for longer periods to avoid crystals forming in the coolant system.
  7. thanks for the replies to my question. after further troubleshooting, i found that tge twist-lock plug coming into my coach was loose, and only providing partial power when plugged into 50amp (and no power on 20amp). tightened it, and all electrical issues resolved themselves. thanks, chris g.
  8. on our 2003 National Dolphin, our house batteries are charging ok when driving, but when plugged in (20anp and 50amp), they do not charge. any suggestions on what i should check? thanks, chris g.
  9. Seems strange to me that your current carrier would not continue your coverage while the RV is on a consignment lot. back in 2003, we put our motorhome on consignment and continued our coverage with Allstate with no problems. Their risk is low since it wont be driven (except the rare test drive), and the lot has its own insurance if damage happens from another RV.
  10. The only real issue is Monarch pass. I've driven it several times in two different motorhomes. it is a long pass and a steep grade, but you should be fine. on the downgrade, be sure to downshift and use any engine/supplemental breaking system you might have. you should only have to hit your brakes once in a great while, or not at all. take your time, its a beautiful drive.
  11. I'm running PrinX tires on my Dolphin. very happy with the ride and no cracking 2 1/2 years after install.
  12. Update: its been found. est $60,000.00 in damage... https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/lakewood-motorhome-rv-stolen-damaged-storelocal/?KCNC_LHA_OTM
  13. its not mine Bill, so i have no idea about insurance. just shared the article since I saw it on my local news. --chris g.
  14. Wow, if you can't keep a motorhome safe behind a gate and locked in a garage with a security system, how are any of us safe? 2018 Tiffen, if anyone is keeping an eye out for it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/colorado/news/lakewood-mans-rv-stolen-motor-home-retirement-dreams/
  15. as far as the height issue, i have yet tocome accross a gas station roof too low for my Class A's. You might be extra cautious at older stations, but most newer stations are well over 13' high. it can never hurt to stop and take a look as you get close, if you have any doubts.
  16. I'm not sure how helpful this is, but 20 years ago, when going through finantial hardship from losing my job, i took our first motorhome to a consignment lot. I let them know what i owed on it and that i needed to get at least that much for the sale. It sat there for about 8 months, but ultimately it was reposessed. The process was easy and they were helpful cleaning the coach and getting it ready for sale.
  17. Interesting vehicle, and amazing that it's all original, but the article is annoying since it keeps calling it a "motorhome"
  18. We are about 5 years away from retiring and going full time in our motorhome. We are in the planning stages for this phase of our life, but I like planning far ahead. I'm just curious what other folks plan on doing once they realize they can no longer drive their RV. Do you have a sticks and bricks home to move back into? are you renting it out now? Will you park your RV and continue to live in it? do you have a plot of land or RV space already purchased? thanks, chris
  19. Outside of FMCA, you can try the Upside app. at certain gas stations, you can get up to $.25/gallon back. i've used it for my regular cars for about 8 months now and have built up a balance of $83.00. it also gives you cash back at some restarunts too.
  20. i just finished covering my 35' Dolphin for the 2nd time since i bought it. Anything i can do to protect the roof and the graphics from fading is ok by me. my son helped me lift the cover up, then did the rest by myself. i like this cover since its easy to install, and has zippers to allow access to inside the coach and the ladder.
  21. Bill gave you a good list to choose from. may i also suggest this site too: https://tripwizard.rvlife.com/ it is owned by the same company that does rvparkreviews aka campgroundreviews. very good info at both sites. --chris g.
  22. has this issue been resolved? most of this discussion was from 2021 and one message implied FMCA was working on it. Every member should get a plate or two they are pround to display.
  23. Hi folks, I'm planning a trip to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis MO for next year in May 2023. We are driving a 35' motorhome and I was wondering if you folks have any suggestions on parking near the park. On an older thread on another forum, someone suggested parking south of Poplar Dr. on Sullivan Blvd (becomes S. Wharf st) along the river, but this was an old thread, and I was wondering if this is still possible. Our 2nd option would be to park further away and take an Uber/Lift/shuttle, etc to the park, but a slight complication is that my wife uses an electric scooter (that breaks down into pieces). I know, thats why most of you have a towd, but we wont have one on this trip. Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.--Chris G.
