  1. What I look for in the reviews: road conditions, low branches, alternate routes, and any other tangible information...... opinions, experiences are ok,,,,,I like several reviews to see if there may be a pattern.... Just like investigating, like to have as much info as possible before coming to any conclusion. Rv park reviews has been one resource that provides info, as well as escapees, rvnet, and some other forums.....google earth, etc...... The above resources may have saved me some damages over the years as well as some unlikely parks where I would not care to stay at..... The more experiences folks post,,,,,the more info that is helpful in reaching a conclusion......Have not been disappointed,,,,,,,Yet! Homework, homewor, homework..........pays off and enhances the traveling experience..... your experience/opinion may differ.... Safe Highways....
  2. You can post your experiences.........here,,,,,may help others.
  3. Although, my interests definitely involves Historic Interpretation/work. I am willing to consider other options, i.e. camp hosting, etc., to be able to explore and learn about the local history. Palo Duro is one of those locations. The minimum requirement is one month, which they encourage, to determine if the location is a good fit for a longer commitment. The Volunteer Coordinator is very responsive, and flexible in scheduling. I have searched forum(s) and could not find any information where anyone has volunteered at Palo Duro. Has anyone been involved as a Volunteer Camp Host at Palo Duro Canyon State Park?,,,If so, what was your experience? Thanks for any information.
  4. Too easy for anyone to remove the pins while stopped... I use the locking pins. Blue Ox Locks
  5. Nice to see a positve review, great report and information..........I also like posting on rvparkreviews.com,,,,,, Semper Fi
  6. Those that may be interested in volunteering at Cape Hatteras in the future, blog has updated information. There are no known ads on the blog,,there are links to other websites that I personally use or enjoy,,,just a fun way to keep track of volunteer information. If anyone has any recommendations for additional information that would be helpful; I would like to consider including it for each Volunteer location. If I had only known that volunteering at Historic sites was going to be so enjoyable, could have started earlier. Can't believe how much fun I am having. I keep waiting for them to bill me. Approximately 6-8,000(conservative estimate) visitors in 3 weeks, what a great cross section of folks from around the world.....Holland, Germany, India, Taiwan, China, Latin America, Carribean, Japan, England, and all over the US with a sincere interest in the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.....Sounds like an ad.....over 2 million visit the National Seashore every year..... Cape Hatteras Lighthouse National Historic Site Update
  7. I couldn't find the exact post I used on moving the fuse, but the one I referenced above discusses the fuse number to move. Looking at the fuse box under the hood facing the driver, I moved the fuse in the lower right hand corner one slot to the right which keeps my lighter socket hot when the key is off and removed. Again, this in on my 2008. The Liberty has 18k miles, and probably 10k being towed, it tows great.
  8. Just saw these questions, will try to be as helpful as I can. Keep in mind, I have the 2008 Jeep Liberty, not the 2009/2010. There is a separate light bulb kit that can be installed in the Lib tail lights, that plugs directly in my MH socket with a 7 point to 4 point plug conversion socket. (not sure of the exact terms, but the tech that installed mine, knew what he was doing),,,No diodes, etc. Here is a site I used when preparing my Liberty for towing, etc. It was the best info I could find at the time. Further searches on this site will produce plenty of reading on towing the Liberty. Good Luck, I think it will answer all your questions about towing the Liberty. Towing Jeep Liberty
  9. We have Attwood levelegs,,,,electric jacks on our MH,,,,,,we never leave home without them.....I sure like em,,,,,and they have been trouble free for almost 4 years now.... I guess anything mech/elect can have and will eventually have problems,,,,but when I push the auto button, they have not failed me yet....... Do a search on a couple of forums,,,,,,I have read some problems with all systems,,,,again mech/elect,,,,,good luck. I sure would want to have unquestionable confidence in the installer....whoever it is....which to me would be as important as the jacks....jmho.
  10. They have an excellent rep with local rv'rs
  11. I'm still doing some research also, and the Hawkshead keeps popping up....DIY battery replacement, with local access to common batteries...Think it is the one that also provides temp and pressure, and with the addition of other brands, the cost for the Hawkshead is lower......haven't' decided yet, still looking and researching others experiences with Pressure Pro, TST, Hawkshead,,,,,did I miss any?
  12. I do not use a mud/rock guard on the MH, or a vehicle shield.....Towning the Liberty, must be high enough, and the chassis, I have not any any dings towing the Jeep 7k+ miles so far.... When deciding whether to use a shield, I did a search on another forum,,,and others with the Liberty indicated they had the same experience....others may differ,,,,,,,,,,so far so good....
  13. Here's where I came across San Jacinto, Cape Hatteas, Fort Sumter and others.....Not too interested in the Camp Host positions,,,,was looking for something interesting and fun,,,,,,,,,didn't want to ruin my camping experience,,,,although, it really isn't camping in the true sense anymore,,,,,,,sure is more comfortable, than the Marine days, with the kids, tents, no ac, heat, running water, bugs, wow,,,,,,,,,don't miss that a lot, but the memories......anyway, lost my head there for a minute,,,,,,These sites seem like a lot of fun.....at least for me. Vol.Gov
  14. Probably more common than not. San Jacinto is another one of those locations I have to walk. I never tire of the alamo, history comes alive for me, almost a religious experience. I like most finding things of interest that isn't in the books or well known. Over the last couple years most of our travel has involved around family events, and with 4 boys military, and gov,,,it keeps us busy,,,,but decided to break away and put together things where we can accomplish family obs, and see and do things of interest,,,,,,hopefully, volunteering will do the trick, as I'm a stickler to keeping commitments, and meeting obligations,,,,just don't want a fulltime loss of freeedom job again.... If you get to San Jacinto in April/May, say howdy.
  15. Has anyone volunteered at these sites, or visited them? Any information, experiences? Thanks
  16. We enjoy traveling the backroads,,,,,,,,plenty of scenic spots in each state.....
  17. I enjoy what others have to say, their experiences and also about common problems and solutions.......It's just fun. enjoy!
  18. When we have had to get by without hookups,,,,,we use the generator in the morning to run the coffee pot, check the news and weather,,,,then again in the evening for awhile to check news weather charge cell phones, computer battery.... Always maintained enough power to live comfortably.....
  19. Recently renewed for 3 years,,,,at the old rate.......see you in three years.......oopsssss scratch that ,,,,had a BrainRumble... Guess I renewed for 5 years........Really optimistic....even better.......see you in 5 years....
  20. When I did my research,,,,,,I ended up with the Blue OX Aventa LX Although, I know I didn't need the 10k rating,,,,,things change, and in the event I later decided to change vehicles, I would not have to get another tow bar... At the time the Aventa LX had a good sale price,,,,,,so it made sense to me at the time,,,,and still does......no matter what vehicle I end up with down the line, the Aventa will handle,,,,just my thoughts. Have not had any experience with the models you looking at....Good luck on your choice.
  21. Hate to say it,,,,,but,,,,the Government Giveth And The Government Taketh Away! They have never seen a tax they don't like........I sent a comment,,,,but my cynical expectations are that it was a done deal when they published the register,,,,and the new paperwork changes are in the back room ready to go. My guess is that there will be more and more sites converted to concessions,,,,,,,,Not sure who is getting the subsidies,,,,,,don't think the end users will be,,,,,, just another nickel in the mix.
