  1. Call Tech Support tomorrow,,,they will walk you through anything. 256 356-0261, Don Boyd, x-3290 My Allegro has 4 screws,,,,,,the screw heads were initially covered by the carpet weaving but were easy to find and remove. Good Luck
  2. GoodSamMail Also Know as American Home Base Used them for almost 4 years fulltiming,,,,,,,,no rate increases,,,,,,,,,excellent service,,,,,,,,,,even registered, titled and licensed New MH,,,,,without a hitch,,,,,(actually, the MH had a hitch for towing)

    Geico

Glad all went well with the glass claim... After careful consideration,,,switched to Geico,,,,,saves me $1200 a year on the MH and Jeep. Progessive could not come close,,,,,,have higher limits,,,,,and lower deductibles.......By dropping replacement cost with Progressive,,,,,and matching Geico higher coverages,,,,,Progressive would only reduce the cost by $85......Don't have any issues with Progressive,,,,,,,just lower cost premiums with Geico......... Talked with rep extensively,,,,,,,,and satisfied with the results thus far.....Like everyone,,,,hope I never have a claim,,,,but,,,,,,,good to hear about good experiences..... Had Geico many years before the Lizard,,,,,

    Geico

Just got a quote from Geico for both the Jeep Liberty and motorhome. The Liberty quote is almost half of my Progressive Policy Renewal, and ... The Motorhome is about 1/3 the cost of Progressive Renewal. I know Geico has been around awhile. After comparing the coverages, Geico's quote is so much lower ... ever get something that sounds toooo gooooooood to be true? I sure would like to pay the low lower rates. Anyone have any experience with Geico? The main difference is I am waiting on a response regarding replacement costs, and diminishing deductibles. Any thoughts and experience with GEICO?

  10. I don't normally track mileage,,,,,However,,,,,,,,,,I did initially with my first setup for towing with a Nissan Sentra on a tow dolly and mileage would run from 6 to 8 mpg,,,,,most frequently closer to 6.5 mpg,,,,depending on terrain.......that was based on periodic chech of onboard mileage computer. My current setup which is about 500 pounds heavier than the above setup and on the 1900 mile trip,,,,,again checking the onboard mileage computer,,,,,it registered regularly at 8.8 mpg..........It never registered below the 8.8 for the trip when I checked it,,,which was frequently..... As for the ignition on the'06 Liberty,,,,,,,not sure,,,,but like you indicated, the manual should be the bible for that.....This is my first Jeep,,,,,,,,and we like just about everything about it......gas mileage could be a little better,,,,but,,,,I didn't get it for the gas mileage.........It has performed extremely wellllllll,,,,,,I like it a lot.......I hope the Jeep Brand makes it in the long run.
  11. The '08 Liberty is Automatic,,,,,,the steering wheel does not lock,,,,,,,I turn the key off and remove it,,,,,,, Not sure, but those with manual transmissions,,,,,I guess the steering locks........
  12. We bought our first RV in '76,,,,,yea,,,,I know,,,,the last century......6 or 7 Travel Trailers....lost count and can't remember,,,,,,Senility is helllllll,,,,don't matter anyway.... That said,,,,,never had a surge protector,,,,,,,,,,,never had a problem,,,,,,bought our first Motorhome in 2000,,,,,never had a surge protector or problem.... Bought our current MH in '06,,,,this century,,,,,,first thing I purchased was a surge protector,,,,,,,,still using it,,,,,no problems,,,,,,I just got a surge protector and not the autoformer,,,,,,I monitor voltage inside the MH by another means. I figure for $117 is was cheap insurance compared with the cost of the rig,,,,,,,,,What I do like about the surge protector is it gives me a means to insure that the box is wired correctly.......which I always tested independently before I had a surge protector....... That's my story and I'm stickn' to it!!!!!!
  13. Jmonroe, After research and a great deal of vassilating,,,,,finally went with the Brake Buddy,,,,,,and after the first 1900 mile trip,,,,it worked as advertised. I did install a battery disconnect,,,,,,,but haven't used it.......I moved a fuse to make the 12v outlet hot all the time,,,,,,and after several days of towing,,,did not have any issue with battery drain. I have the BB set on a lower sensitivity,,,,,,as I mainly want the stopping power for an emergency stop,,,,as the Allegro does a good job hauling and stopping the Liberty. I did install a breakaway switch,,,,even though I have the 10k rated hitch and safety cables............just didn't want to assume anything if I had a dearly departed Liberty. As,,,,assumption is the mother of all screwups. I sure like the independent lighting,,,,,,and the Liberty comes in at 4200 lbs,,give or take,,,,,,,tows nicely,,,,,,,, Safe Highways.
  14. I picked up the prompt sunscreen a couple years ago,,,,,and it works as advertised. I would not hesitate to get another one when needed. I Just did not want any drilling into motorhome for snaps ... just my quirk......
  15. First 1,900-mile trip towing the 2008 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 with the below configuration: Just simply: Outstanding Initially I was reluctant to use a portable brake box,,,,after reviewing as much info from this and other forums,,,and manufacturer websites,,,installation instructions,,,,,,etc......I once again learned to never say never. The Brake Buddy performed as intended: It is easy to install and remove,,,setup,,,etc....no issues with performance at all. BlueOx Aventa LX,,,,,just nice,,,,easy hookup,,,disconnect,,,,,etc.... Going with the independent lights that do not connect to the Liberty lighting system,,,,but operate completely off the MH was a good decision imho,,,,no diodes,,,no concerns about lights not working,,,,etc....simply worry free. The info obtained from the forum,,,regarding moving the fuse for the lighter outlet so it would remain hot was valuable information......The Jeep service writer appeared dumfounded by my question regarding just moving the fuse to a different location in the fuse box.....SO,,,,came back home after the Jeep was serviced,,,went to the forum,,,did the search and learned how and where to move the fuse for the lighter outlet to remain Hot!!!! Worked perfectly,,,,Thanks to those on this forum that know more than the Service writers. My only concern was not disconnecting the battery as outlined in the Jeep manual for Recreational Towing. I initially installed a battery disconnect,,,,,,but,,,,never used it... Again,,,,researched forum information regarding others experience in towing the 2008 Liberty,,,,,and again,,,not getting a satisfactory answer from the Jeep dealer regarding disconnect,,,,,I chose to rely on the experience of other forum Liberty owners that tow without disconnecting the battery..... Once again,,,,forum members know the time of day when working through tech issues,,,,that dealers, manufacturers, etc.....don't know or don't care to provide this valuable customer service information,,,etc. I am really confident and satisfied with the final setup and it's towing results. For those from the forum(s) who contributed to this experience,,,,,Thank you very much for sharing your valuable experiences and information. Check is in the Mail:: Oh,,,,I did and do follow the directions for setup,,,,etc......amazing the results when directions are followed. Safe and Happy Highways to All! John
  16. On the way to Victoria,,,,welllllll,,,,intermittent light rain, drizzle,,,,so now the product I like so much,,,,,I get to exercise with it again,,,,,,,road grime can sure mess up a nice wax job,,,,,, Guess I'll see how good it works for the second time. Now, If I could just lose 5lbs everytime I Wash ON, Wash Off,,,,,,wishful thinking..... I like the combination of these two products more than any I have used,,,,don't think I will need to try anything else. I use the round waxing sponges for Wash On,,,,and the microfiber cloths for Wash Off,,,,,,use the same for the Protect-All Wax On, Wax Off.
  17. For 3 years the only product I have used to keep the MH clean has been a California Duster and Protect-All.....Still has the like new showroom shine. Well, today,,,,ran out of Protect-All before finishing the job. Went looking to see if I had another bottle and came across Protect-All quick and easy (Right!) no rinse wash. Welllllll,,,,,what another great product......couple quarts of water in a bucket,,,,couple caps of quick and easy,,,,,used a sponge for wash on,,,,,Dry rag for wash off....quick and easy,,,,removed water spots,,,,,,dust,,,dirt etc....... Must have picked this up sometime last year and it got buried in the MH.......forgot I had it. It worked great,,,,,I sure like eeeeazzzzy......... Never have used soap on the MH,,,,,,, Disclaimer: I do not have any interest in Protect-all,,,,other than using,,,,their products. I found out about Protect-all years ago on one of the forums,,,,whoever suggested it,,,,thanks.

  19. I have read a lot of opinions on tires, age, cracks, etc..... That said,,,the best advice which makes the most sense to me is have a Michelin Dealer evaluate the tires............... When all else fails,,,,,I follow the directions ,,,,OR,,,,,,get the opinion of a Pro!!!!

  22. This experience with PPL, to me, is more important than the $15+- I ordered the Brake Buddy from PPL. Email to PPL: Hi,,,,on your ad on the Ebay site,,,,it indicated free shipping... However,,,,I could not find a code and the shipping cost are in the price of the order. Please advise whether the free shipping is in effect...... Either way,,,I still want the Brake Buddy...just trying to save a few $$$$. Thanks for your response,,,,,my first order for the Blue Ox tow bar was handled excellently,,,,that's why I am returning for the Brake Buddy from ppl. Thanks for the great sales prices on very expensive rv products. Email From PPL: I am sorry, we do not advertise on Ebay. Our site www.pplmotorhomes.com is our original and only site. I did some looking around and found a company with the name PPL (Pacific Precision Laboratories) not us! Other than that I don’t find anything that links PPL Motor Homes with Ebay. If you will send me the link I will have our IT department research it.I looked you up in our system and see there is an order going out today in your name and a Brake buddy is on the order. I see that you ordered via our site. I also see that you wrote this email last night and you must have ordered it after you wrote this email. I am assuming your order went smoothly. Email to PPL: Thanks for your reply,,,,here is the website http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_nkwZbrake...fromZR40QQ_mdoZ If you go down to the bottom it will show ppl as a sponsor. That is where I came up with the free shipping. The sponsored website is www.pplmotorhomes.com. Here is the actual Ad: Sponsored LinksWhat's this? Brake Buddy on Sale Classic & New Vantage Brake Buddy Tow Braking Systems. Free Shipping. www.pplmotorhomes.com Also if you do a google search for Brake Buddy,,,,the following Ad appears for pplmotorhomes also. Google Search: http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&amp...mp;aq=f&oq= Here is the sponsored Ad on Google: Brake Buddy on Sale www.pplmotorhomes.com Classic & New Vantage Brake Buddy Tow Braking Systems. Free Shipping Anyway,,,I am a satisfied customer,,,,,,,just trying to save a few dollars like most folks,,,,,,,,I just could not come up with any code or a way to input the free shipping... I do appreciate your response.....Like I indicated,,,,you folks have been outstanding to do business with,,,,,,and I believe provide not only competitive prices,,,,but also a good value for the $$$$$ for on sale items,,,,etc. Email from PPL: Thanks for the link, I will have our IT department look into this. Email from PPL: Sorry for the inconsistency and confusion with the shipping for the Brake Buddy you ordered. It appears that Ebay is some how picking up on an old ad that PPL was using in Google? I am not sure how this is happening but PPL will have the ad changed as soon as possible. PPL did not intend to sell the product with free shipping but due to the fact that the ad stated “Free Shipping†PPL will honor the ad and credit you shipping. PPL will be crediting you credit card today and you should see credit in the next few days. If you have any questions please feel free to call. Thanks Boyde McMakin Email To PPL: Just Simply,,,,thank you very much for your consideration in this matter. As previously stated, I ordered the Brake Buddy even without the free shipping because I considered it a good value and only raised the query because there was no place to input a free shipping code. Before doing business with any company I do the best research I can to determine their reputation,,,my first introduction to ppl came from rv service reviews,,,,,and comments on RV Forum(s)....When I needed a tow bar,,,I started checking online prices,etc.....PPL had the best price on the Blue Ox Aventa LX that I could locate locally or online,,,,,however, my final decision on purchasing from ppl was information I found regarding your commitment to customer service. I have not been disappointed, even without the free shipping, the sales price on the Brake Buddy is a good value. Customer Service after the sale is the reason I drive a Tiffin Motorhome, towing with a Blue Ox tow bar and now a Brake Buddy. I believe PPL is in good company, and please accept my thanks for your commitment to Customer Service. Also, my thanks to Barbara for her kind followup and initial response to my question. Please keep up the good work,,,,and I am positive ppl will continue to be a successful company,,,,,especially in these times.......I believe a lot of your success will be a direct result or your commitment to customer service. Now, if I could make $15 every few minutes that it takes to send an email,,,,,,welllllllll,,,,,,,,,gues I could own a Prevost,,,,,,How's their customer service,,,,,R they still around?????? The bottom line,,,,I already bought the Brake Buddy,,,,just thought it was a nice touch for a company to followup on a minor issue and even credit the shipping cost on an already purchased item.... I will still compare shop in the future,,,,but if it is a matter of a few $$$$$ difference,,,,ppl will get my business,,,,,just because,,,,, It's easy to report bad experiences with a company,,,,,but sometimes all the good guys win,,,,,,,,
