Thank you for the advice, I have a strong feeling this will come sooner than I would like it too. I only have the Vacuum system located under the frige now and there is a lot of room above it.

I have a Splendid 2000 series, does anyone have an issue with water reentering the drum after you are done washing, We purchased it and the on/off switch was already pushed to "ON" and the drum had about 6" of water laying in it, so I put it to spin and it did its thing, and drained out, I ran a load thru it, worked great, shut it off after it was done drying and the next day I had a small puddle in the bottom, we just purchased the RV used and I am not sure if this is normal or not? Any tips?

Ok, we looked at a new Fleetwood Class A, it had a residential unit from the factory, it ran off the invertor. Seemed like a smart thing to do. We purchased a used Class A with a Norcold 1200 series, of coarse it only works on A/C, (im impressed it worked at all at 12yrs old) I ordered a new burner and i am thinking of tossing it in the trash since it has out lived most Norcolds being 12 yrs old. Maybe a Dometic I would reconsider but thats $3000.00 away, not going to happen. Our new/used coach has an invertor built in, as soon as i figure out how to use it throught the RC7 GS controller I will be set to switch over. Plus it has an auto generator start to replenish the batteries if needed, so I feel good about that. My question is what trimming did you have to do to fit the standard fridge into the RV hole in the wall? Do they make a direct replacement for specific sizes? What about the hole in the outside wall will it help or hurt? the interior of the coach is very nice, I do not want the fridge to look out of place.

Cummins ISL And ISC Engines With CAPS Fuel Injector
jleamont replied to dickandlois's topic in Engines
Did Cummins correct any of this on line prior to releasing later engines? I have a 2001 ISL400 I just replaced the lift pump and all suction fuel lines, I am familliar with the connector you spoke of (big round twist connect with multi pins) under lift pump. Usually the first one-two years out on a new product are the problem units and as time goes on service bulletins get corrected on the production line as redesigned parts become available. Does the message above have a serial number range, production date range? -
I have repaired this before on a 6.7L (2007) Cummins, the "quill tubes" that feed the injectors leak fuel into the valve spring area next to the injector, usually the injectors get replaced also, strange design, no seal between the tube and the injector, just a press fit from tighting the tube on the outside of the head where the fuel rail connects. I have had other techs tell me that they just replaced the tubes and it stopped the leak.

I had a similar problem with my old coach (Coachmen)-- it was a corroded ground on the frame, I was connected to the house batteries on that coach. I just followed the ground cable to the frame from the battery bank, strange thing was everything else in the coach worked great, but the generator would not start. Did you notice if anything dimmed down when you attempted to start the generator? Interior lights etc? Mine would shut off the interior lights while attempting to crank the generator.

I replaced the fuel line from the tank to the fuel separator, and the line from the separator to the fuel pump on the engine, that was a project! After 4 times of filling the filters and it stalling it finally stayed running and I left it run for 45min on high idle (cruise control on). I think I am good now. FYI anyone with a Cummins engine in this time frame (ISB,ISC, ISL,ISM, ISX same pump) you might want to replace the fuel pump or have it replaced, Cummins told me they had problems with the pumps sucking air due to a design flaw within the pump gasket where the electric part mounts to the housing. Good preventative maintenance if its a know problem, I just wonder what else should start to think about replacing on the chassis. Thank you Wolfe10, you are always a help!

I unhooked the line at the tank and dropped it into a jug of diesel up front to make sure it wasnt the fuel pickup in the tank pulling the air since the fuel tank is 3/4 full. The little beads of fuel over the on the fuel lines in the basement area actually made me happy I was headed in the right direction. Thanks for the replys, today will tell, I am going to replace both lines from the front to the back (feed and return).

Anyone ever replaced their fuel lines from the tank to the engine? Mine have fuel drops on them in the basement and the engine appears to be stalling due to air in the fuel. After 30 seconds the fuel filters go 3/4 empty, engine stalls, I thought it was the transfer pump and i replaced it with the latest updated Cummins pump today, no improvement Then I noticed the fuel drops when I lowered the ceiling down in the basement. The new pump is nice-- it self primes when you change the fuel filters, after 5 versions I feel like this was a good PM idea anyway. I unhooked the supply line from the tank and put it into a 5 gallon diesel fuel container, still stalls. Next is to replaced the lines from the front to the back, I am not happy about this but i guess it's my only option now. The Cummins dealer told me this is fairly common that the rubber breaks down. 2002 Monaco/HR anyone had this happen?

Found it, it is not purging and it was tucked up near the right rear wheel up high, funny, all of the space under the coach they thought that was a good place to mount it. Now I have to break out my air brake diagnostic book and start figuring out why.
-
I spoke to Monaco, they cannot tell me what if any it was equipped with when it was built, No help. Usually you have to manually drain your tanks, (D.O.T says daily) but I guess where you are traveling would impact that. Someone installed heated automatic drains on my coach and they seem to work fine, I am still going to purchase a dryer and install it, the less I have to worry about the happier our trips will be. Fuel separator I would drain at every oil change interval (if more than once a year) or just replace the filters annually.

I have a call into Monaco waiting for a return call, when I spoke to them I had no VIN number to provide, so I called them back with it and left a message. They told me they were under the assumption they were all equipped with a dryer and the rep told me where to find it, there was no way it would fit where he pointed me to look, my lower radiator hose is routed there and there is no marking anywhere to indicate it ever had one, nor would one fit. I researched the on-line brochures and they spell out the air system, no mention of a dryer. If it never had it should I let it go, or add it to the system? You know the old saying "if it isn't broken don't fix it".

I just purchased a 2002 Holiday Rambler Imperial with an ISL Cummins. Upon doing a full service I noticed I do not have an air dryer, is this normal? All of the air tanks have heated automatic water purge valves and there was no water in the tanks so they work but I thought it was strange not to see an air dryer. Being in the truck service industry I usually don't see an air system this complex without a dryer. Any thoughts?

Our's has a two stage jake brake and it is very strong on both settings, on an 8% grade it will slow us down too much and I find myself feathering the accelerator pedal to shut it off. you might want to get that checked out prior to purchase.

Watch out for the Maxxforce products! Navistar is replacing them with Cummins due to frequent breakdowns. When we were looking, the dealer had two purchase back units that "spent more time behind a tow truck". I strongly recommend looking another direction, especially since Navistar is ditching their own product, it can't be that good.

Thank you all for the replies, we purchased the unit and love it so far, its a big difference from the class C we had.

I just purchased a 2002 coach with an air leveling system by HWH, it does not level automaticially, the rear drops and the front raises, when I manually lower the front only the left side drops then I have to manually lower the right side, I want to replace this with hydraulic eventually but for now if it worked properly it would be great, any ideas?
-
Update; it is a 2001 ISL400 looked good, no leaks, I have a concern on the air leveling system and the aqua hot system that I am not familiar with, I wanted hydraulic leveling and the traditional RV LP heater would be good, especially since we are not full timers and we only camp in the cold by accident.

Did anyone check the lower radiator hose (engine return hose) to make sure it's not collapsing under load, from the suction? Also check with Cummins-- could the water pump be spinning backwards, Some manufactures offer water pumps with reverse impellers, or did the new engine come with the water pump or was you old one transferred to the new engine? If you are reusing the pump make sure the impeller is tight on the shaft.

Thank you Brett, I have been flip flopping back and forth on what year to purchase due to emissions technology, then new seem to be OK now with the SCR engines I just know to stay away from 2004-2009 with the EGR only engine. I think we're purchasing it. Thanks, Joe

We are considering our first Diesel Pusher purchase and we located a 2002 Holiday Rambler 40' with a 400hp ISM Cummins and a 6 speed Allison transmission. I do not know what the axle ratio is but it is on a Roadmaster chassis. Any ideas what to expect for fuel mileage not towing? We also looked a a new Fleetwood with a Cummins ISB 300 and was told 11-13 MPG which seemed high but sounded good. We currenly have a 31' Class C Ford E-450 V10 which is around 7-8, I am hoping with the diesel I can get enough fuel mileage to off set the MPG or better would be great. Any thoughts on the Roadmaster chassis in 2001-2002 good chassis? Thanks,

Thank you for the reply, we looked at several Newmar's and only one had a good roof that wasn,t leaking, the rest of the unit and the narrow minded dealer turned us away. Thanks.

Guy's I need some advice, we are considering our first diesel coach, looking at a new unit with the Cummins ISB, I am scared to death to buy this thing and it spending all it's time behind a tow truck. I am a diesel tech and I work on Ford products. I have no experience with the Cummins product, anyone have any advice? We want something that will give us good years of service, since I am still full time employed it won't see more than 6000 miles a year,. When we do go camping we run long distances, reason for the diesel, the v10 we have now struggles and its too small. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We have Pressure Pro for 6 years, my sensors are starting to need new batteries, other than that the system saved us two times. One leaking valve stem extension and one failed Goodyear tire starting to shed the tread, if it hadn't been for the system I would have not know until the tire came thru the floor there was a problem.

We are considering purchasing a used Newmar with the kitchen on the slide (not the refrigerator), this will be our first coach with a slide let alone critical utilities on the slide also. Has anyone seen problems with the gas or water plumbing leaking from being moved back and forth thru the years? Thank you
