So you would recommend replacing air dryer every 3 years. Is this something I can do or best left to shop? -

Is this something you do when it is above freezing or even when it is below freezing? -

In checking my manual, my coach also automatically dumps air when I start, so I guess I am ok as far as air tanks. Again thanks all for the info Roland -

Bill, that is what I plan to do, we will have the mh over night before leaving and I can run a cord to plug it in from my garage. What is this about purging the air tanks? Roland -
Any recommendations for a campground in the Jackson-Vicksburg Mississippi area, need for overnight only

Blake, unfortunately we live in a condo and running gen over night not an option. Brett, when running down highway is it not necessary to run generator, will alternator keep batteries charged to run heater fan? Do Ineed to turn inverter on at control panel? I always keep it off because when on and coach sitting in storage for longer period batteries go way down. -

Brett, if the unit is plugged into my house will the fan use unit batteries or house current? -
Is there any problem or downside with leaving the engine block heater on all night? We will be leaving Michigan this coming Saturday and the overnight temperatures are going to be -11. I will have the motorhome at my house overnight and will be able to have it plugged in so I will be able to do this. It would be plugged into a 30 amp circuit, would I also be able to run furnace or might that be to much draw? Roland . ,

Try Pioneer RV Park just north of Phoenix or Butterfield RV Park at Benson. Both are nice parks that have casual spaces. Most parks will be booked, we booked last winter before we left for this year. Roland

If you are passing thru Memphis there is a great park on Arkansas side of Mississippi right on river. Tom Sawyer RV Park. You can camp within 100’ of the big muddy and watch the big boats go by. Roland

Thanks guys, that is what I was thinking but it never hurts to ask. This is the first year that it will be so cold while we are traveling. I guess we have been lucky in the past. Herman we only use little bay heater when we are parked for the night, the tanks are heated but in extreme cold a little more heat is a good thing. Roland

Shame on you Herman!! Roland

We are leaving 1/06 for the sunny southwest, our temperature is predicted to be in the single digits. Should I fill our fresh water tank before we leave or wait until we get to warmer weather? I have a small ceramic heater for water pump bay and plumbing bay. Will use bottled water for drinking and prefilled water jugs for washing and toilet. I have winterized with pink stuff. If I fill fresh water tank I would fill hot water tank and leave on. Roland

I know Carl, last night we had low of -17 and windchill of-34. Right now the two week forecast is better for northern route but as I said I am monitoring daily. As we get closer the forecast gets more accurate. We will go to Indianapolis first day and decide from there on a daily basis. Right now eastern US is going to be below normal right down to the gulf. We usually only drive 250-275 miles per day and do not want to go in bad weather.

Herman, We generally do south from Michigan to Memphis and then over thru Dallas, El Paso and on to Arizona. I have been monitoring the advanced weather forecasts for several weeks and if they hold up we might go thru St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Albuquerque and over to Arizona. This year the above route forecast is better than directly south, Ross Boyer has taken this route for many years without problem. I will be watching weather like a hawk and turn south at the sign of any trouble. Roland sorry Brett, I did mention Albuquerque

Rich, we are leaving Michigan 1/6/18, hope by then we will have above 10 out for high. Going to try northern route to Arizona weather permitting. Even if roads are snow free 10 degrees not my favorite travel weather. Roland

We have not found Memphis to be dangerous, Central Barbeque is a great stop. As you can see we travel by out stomachs.

Safety has to be the number one consideration, your personal safety and that of those around you. This brings us back to my original thoughts about home protection (house or motorhome) that maybe a shotgun is a better choice for home protection.

Wayne, would you say that while you might have never felt the need to draw your weapon you were glad to have it available if you needed it? I also have never felt the need to draw a weapon and I make every effort to keep myself and my family out of those conditions but in todays world that is harder to do.
