Be sure to make time for the Meet & Greet Meeting we have at each National Convention. It is a chance to put a face to the folks you have heard from here on the Forum. Day, Time and Place will be posted here as we get closer to the Convention. Herman

BillAdams Report post Posted March 14, 2017 While I don't qualify under this category, most every other male on both sides of the family do. Last week we buried my Mom next to my Dad at Arlington National. Dad died over 30 years ago at 63 and it was a great blessing to finally be able to have Mom join him there (getting that done nearly took an act of Congress but that's another story). Mom and Dad lay in rest about 20 feet from her Dad, Adm. Smedberg (Captain of USS Iowa when it was recommissioned and former Superintendent of the Naval Academy later). Directly above Grandads grave is his fathers grave and about 20 yards away is my Mom's brother. Mom's youngest brother is 82 but will be buried there as well. I assume my brother, retired Navy Seal and then Doctor with Army Special forces, will end up there as well. This is all within steps of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was a very special day and just makes you smile and thank everyone involved for their service!
hermanmullins Report post Posted March 14, 2017 Bill, I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. God rest her soul as she joins you father and the rest of her family. Thanks for all the service your family has given. Sincerely, Herman
BillAdams Report post Posted March 15, 2017 Mom's passing was terribly sad but finally putting her beside Dad was a great day. Very few tears shed. I was just a celebration of her life. She had been married to a troll of a husband for over 20 years. He did not even have any interest in coming to the burial. We are all very happy that she is out of that situation and back with Dad. Thanks for you your comments. It's quite a family!
manholt Report post Posted March 16, 2017 Bill. Finally...glad to hear it all worked out for you! It's hard to believe that a retired General had no empathy for his dead wife, your mother! God bless her soul. May she rest in eternal peace! Thank you all for your service and dedication to our country Carl

five Report post Posted March 16, 2017 The problem in ANC is they are running out of room. They encourage "burial" in a columbarium. Eventually they will restrict in ground burials to military retirees/spouses and KIAs. Several years ago, my wife's uncle and aunt died, he was a surgeon in WW II, but not a retiree. Since I was the military guy in the family, I did the leg work with ANC...no problem with a columbarium.
hermanmullins Report post Posted March 17, 2017 Five, I understand what you say about ANC running out of space. My suggestion should be to cut out Foreign Aid to our enemies and purchase as much land around the ANC so our deserving veterans reverie the proper respect they were promised. Now back off my soap box. Herman
five Report post Posted March 18, 2017 Understand, Herman, but we have a long standing policy of giving millions of dollars to countries that hate us.
manholt Report post Posted March 18, 2017 Not to mention the country's that go to war against us, then lose and we build them back up, bigger and better and richer than they where to begin with! They still hate us! Ironically, they still take our money, that we somehow feel we have to give them! Bleep! I'll step off my box now and put myself on TIME OUT.....Again!
