Arizona Next Winter

Question

Does anyone have a suggestion for a RV resort in the Phoenix or Tucson area that is nice for a month or so and has good monthly rates? This will be our first winter experience there.

Try Happy Trails RV Resort in Surprise, AZ. Happy Trails is located at 17200 W Bell RD with 2,000 sites and numerous amenities.

Surprise is northwest out of Phoenix on US60. You can not tell where Phoenix, Sun City, Sun City West and Surprise begin and end.

Rates vary based on the amenities on the lot. IE: Building with or without washer and dryer, golf cart, part or all the lot covered, renting via a reality company or private individual.

Depending on what month you want, you may not need to have a covered lot. We face west on our lot. We never put out the awning, October through April.

The rates all depend on what you want - woodshop, silversmithing, ceramics, etc. We are at Happy Days RV Park in Apache Junction (east valley). All they have is a pool, shuffleboard, billiards and potlucks but that is all we wanted - we came here to visit family and see Arizona. There are many resorts here offering various amenities and many price levels - just depends on what you want to pay for. Palm Creek in Casa Grande is very nice but rates vary according to month - January and February >$1000.

You should perhaps first decide on how much of a park you want for your first time there. Some of them are full service that will keep you busy from sunup till sundown and way later. Others are more of a place to park and sit and relax. Perhaps you might want lots of free time go out and just travel around the area. And of course the cost for these two extreme types of parks are different also. My thought is perhaps just a basic park that will give you lots of time to go out looking around and become familiar with the area and what's available for future years in Arizona. Why pay for a bunch of services that you perhaps won't use.

Thanks for all the info. We are not into tons of activities kind of people. Just want to relax around a pool and spa after a day of sightseeing. Plan on going sometime for a month during January - March. Will look at places suggested and always welcome more ideas.

Silver Leaf Resort in Buckeye. Nice people, quiet, pool, etc., close to markets and shops. Was there in 12' for 2 weeks and would go again.

Try Yuma AZ - right on CA/AZ border - 120 miles to San Diego - great desert location - We stayed 2 winters ago at an RV park called Fortuan O'ro (sp?) Huge pool, golf course on site, reasonable rates, access to Dentists in Mexico - friends highly recommended -upgraded tennis courts, pickle ball courts (great sport) etc.

Would go back again in a heart beat !! Interesting things to see/explore in that part of the US !!

You ought to check out Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort in Casa Grande, exit 194 on I-10. Great golf, people, and good all around place to visit.

It is part of Sun Resorts and has discount pricing for first time stays. As you can see the lots are sized generously.

Just Another Old Doggy,

Don
